Chapter 190: Ferocious Battle

Chapter 190: Ferocious Battle

Planet 4581’s skies were ablaze with endless combat, smoke blanketing the entire globe. Four battleships recklessly rained down level-ten cannon fire on each other from mere miles apart, their attacks as relentless as a rainstorm, not pausing for a single second.

All the mechas either took cover far away or retreated inside the battleships, not daring to show themselves lightly.

"Darn it, they’re so bold!" Nick cursed loudly. He had assumed that once the level-ten artillery started, the Alliance’s ships would back off. But instead, they stood their ground and charged head-on.

"Boss, the exterior of our battleships is getting charred. If this keeps up, we might end up going down with them."

"We won’t both go down. If anyone’s going to die, it’s them. We’ve got large and medium-sized battleships, while they only have two medium ones."

"But boss, the medium-sized battleships belong to us, the Space-sparkle crew. If we lose them, we won’t have any battleships left. We won’t be able to afford a second one anytime soon."

"Damn it. Have the medium-sized battleships take a detour and land on Planet 4581, go and wipe out that little pest for me."

"Roger that."

As soon as the Space-sparkle’s medium-sized battleship left, Commander Ho and his crew immediately noticed something was off.

"Have another medium-sized battleship follow it, deploy a small battleship to patrol above Planet 4581. Report back immediately if the enemy is spotted. Do not let them land, even if it costs you your life," ordered Commander Ho through gritted teeth.

"But if we leave, you’ll only have one medium-sized battleship, not enough to hold off their large one," a subordinate voiced his concerns.

"Even if we can’t stop them, we have to try. Now go, no more chatter."

"Roger that."

Nick believed his large battleship could easily take down the medium one in less than fifteen minutes. But an hour had passed, and they were still holding strong.

"Boss, reinforcements from the closest planet, 4582, have been dispatched. They’ll arrive in no more than two hours."

Hearing this, Nick’s face darkened. "Unload all the level-ten artillery. I don’t think they can keep this up."

Nick was right in his guess; Commander Ho’s and his people was indeed reaching their limit.

"All crew, get into your mechas. The moment I open the hatch, fly out immediately. Escape from here as fast as you can," Commander Ho ordered, his eyes resolute.

"And what about you, Commander?" a crew member asked.

"Enough talk. Get moving," replied Commander Ho.

The crew member clenched his teeth, "If you’re not leaving, neither am I."

"I’m telling you to go and intercept the pirates. Don’t let them land. What’s the use of you staying here? If you’re going to die, make sure it’s worth it," Commander Ho growled.

The crew member’s face paled, then he shouted his acknowledgment.

The medium-sized battleship shielded the crew from the oncoming fire, allowing the mecha pilots to safely escape from the ship and fly off into the distance.

"Alert. Alert. The battleship has suffered over 50% damage and is entering hibernation mode."

"Alert. Alert. The battleship has suffered over 60% damage and is now in hibernation mode."

The alarm rang out through the battleship. Commander Ho chuckled coldly, pressing the battle mode again. "We’re all going to die anyway, why would you need rest? Join me in taking down their big toy."

"Boss, the enemy’s mecha soldiers are fleeing," one of Nick’s subordinate suddenly reported.

"Didn’t I tell you to fire all the level-ten artillery? What are you doing?" Nick shouted in fury.

"There are only five level-ten artillery shots left, boss. Everyone wanted to save them for a crucial moment. After all, we can’t get more even if we want to."

"I told you to fire, so just fire. No talking back. Once we kill Yuri’s little bastard, we can buy as many as we want from Herbert."

"Really?"

"Of course, would I lie to you? Now go!" Nick said, his chest hurting with frustration.

Less than two minutes later, a subordinate came to report, "All is ready, boss. Just give the order."

"Combine five and fire them together," Nick commanded mercilessly, a cruel smile on his face. He seemed to already see the enemy battleship turning into ashes.

But his smile faded in the next second.

Their artillery had just been fired when it was intercepted by the enemy’s medium-sized battleship mid-flight, getting lodged into the ship’s body. The medium-sized battleship, seeming to care nothing for its own survival, headed straight towards them—

"Run, run!" Nick’s frantic voice echoed through the ship.

It was too late.

With a thunderous explosion, the combined level-ten artillery exploded.

The medium-sized battleship was instantly reduced to ashes, leaving only a few pieces behind.

The large battleship was entirely charred, appearing as if it would shatter into pieces any moment.

Nick and his crew, bloodied and bruised, ignored their dizziness and quickly climbed into their mechas, rushing out of the battleship as fast as they could.

Boom—

Before all of them could escape, the battleship exploded into countless pieces of scrap metal.

The soldiers in the distance heard the massive explosion and tears streamed down their faces.

"Commander Ho is gone..."

"Don’t cry, we’re going to avenge him now."

"Yes, let’s take down Space-sparkle, for our commander."

"Let’s charge together, go!"

Nick and his crew barely escaped death when incoming fire rushed towards them. He tried to evade, but his mecha’s leg was still hit.

"Heh, just in time. Let’s see how I deal with you." Nick gasped for breath, a cold smile on his face as he charged at the soldiers.

Elsewhere, two medium-sized battleships were still in a stalemate, one wanting to land and the other refusing to let it. Neither side was willing to back down. As the two battleships kept pressing towards each other, both suffered severe damage, their exteriors barely recognizable.

"We’re out of level-ten artillery."

"Then use level-nine, level-eight. Don’t worry, if we’re out of artillery, they surely don’t have much left either."

"The ship has sustained more than 60% damage, forcing it to operate can only support us for half an hour."

"Half an hour is enough."

"It doesn’t matter; our artillery won’t last half an hour."

"Everyone get into your mechas. As soon as the battleship can’t hold on, we’ll leave immediately."

"This is the battleship that Officer Tuss bought after months of mining. Officer Yuri is definitely going to be heartbroken if it’s damaged."

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone imagined Yuri’s frowning face, full of distress.

"Hahaha—"

The soldiers laughed heartily. As they laughed, tears started to fall.

"Let’s take a photo together. Everyone, wipe your tears and try to look happy. This is for Officer Yuri to see."

"Alright. Let me wipe my face."

"Hey, let me fix my uniform."

"Hurry up, everyone. Don’t dawdle. Officer Yuri has seen you looking much worse."

"That’s why we need to look our best this time."

"True, when she thinks of us, she should remember us at our best."

"..."

With a click, the photo was taken. In it, everyone was squinting with laughter, appearing carefree.

Five minutes later, the two medium-sized battleships collided, exploding into pieces.

Thousands of mechas engaged in a fierce battle in the sky. Artillery fire lit up the surroundings, a fight that seemed unending.
