Chapter 185: Delivered to the Artificial Womb

No matter how hard everyone tried to persuade him, Officer Lyao wouldn’t budge.

"I’m heading to the ore planet in an hour," he declared, "even if it costs me my life, I will take down that level-nine insectoid queen. No one can disturb Yuri until I die. Yuri’s done plenty for the Alliance already. She doesn’t owe anything to the Alliance or those million people. On the contrary, the Alliance owes her, and all of you here owe her too. It’s her who solved your Sea of Consciousness issue, her who gave you a second chance at life. You should be grateful instead of throwing her into danger every time trouble arises. Instead of arguing here, why not join me at the frontlines?"

With that, Officer Lyao marched out of the conference room.

Yuri rarely used the interstellar net, and so she knew nothing of the ore planet of energy stone and the level-nine insectoid queen. Everyone around her kept their silence.

One day, while she was busily working on her mecha at home, Master Kim sent her a video with a message: "Yuri, I don’t know if this is the right thing to do, but I don’t think you should be kept in the dark."

Curious, Yuri clicked on the video.

It was a recording of Officer Lyao arguing with everyone in the conference room. The video ran until Officer Lyao left the room.

After watching the video, Yuri felt a mix of emotions. She sighed quietly and stood up to head towards the training ground.

As she left her dormitory, she observed a strange pattern. Everyone would smile when they faced her, but the moment they were out of her sight, their faces instantly turned serious and worried.

They all knew about the ore planet, but they were hiding it from her.

Yuri felt a sour, yet warm sensation in her heart.

She walked all the way to the training ground where Tuss was sparring with someone. Seeing her approaching, he stopped and walked over.

"What’s wrong? You don’t look too well," Tuss asked with concern.

With a sigh, Yuri said, "Somebody spilled what you all have been hiding from me."

On her way here, she wanted to be selfish and act as if she knew nothing. But a voice inside her told her that she couldn’t do that.

Tuss’s face turned grave. Yuri showed him the video of Officer Lyao arguing with everyone in the meeting, and asked, "What’s your take on this?"

Before Tuss could answer, Yuri continued, "If those people die, does it mean the Alliance’s foundation is shaken? Besides the insectoids, we also have the Empire to worry about. If those people die, won’t our child be born into a constant state of war and uncertainty —"

"Yuri, I’ll go. I’ll stop the level-nine insectoid queen," Tuss interrupted.

Yuri stared at Tuss. Whether it was due to pregnancy or not, she couldn’t hold back her tears. "That’s not what I meant," she choked out, "I didn’t want you to go on a suicide mission. I just... I just feel overwhelmed."

Tuss patted her back, his heart aching, and tried to comfort her. "Don’t cry, I know that’s not what you meant. I was planning to go anyway, I just didn’t know how to tell you."

"No, you can’t go," Yuri insisted, clinging to Tuss and sobbing uncontrollably.

The soldiers nearby watched the scene, their eyes growing damp.

Yuri cried for nearly ten minutes, letting out all her pent-up emotions, before she finally calmed down.

Tuss dried her tears with a tissue and said calmly, "Do whatever you feel you need to do. I support you, and our child won’t blame you either."

Yuri looked at him, surprised. "You know what I want to do?"

Tuss nodded. "I can guess. The reason you’re crying must be because of the baby. I think you want to put them in an artificial womb."

At Tuss’s words, Yuri was taken aback, and her tears began to flow again.

"Don’t cry, it’s a minor thing. In the Alliance, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of children are born from artificial wombs every year. They’re healthy and no different from ordinary people," Tuss reassured her seriously.

But Yuri still shook her head in disbelief.

Artificial wombs couldn’t possibly be that good; otherwise, why would it only be tens or hundreds of thousands, and not millions or even billions?

Seeing this, Tuss leaned in and whispered into her ear, "Once we’ve dealt with the level-nine insectoids, we can feed them Enova every day. Who knows, their metal Enova power might be at level four when they’re born."

Yuri gave him a glare, but a smile broke through her tears. "You really have some wild ideas."

An hour later, Yuri and Tuss appeared at the hospital.

The doctor looked at them and asked, "Are you sure you want to extract the fetus and place it in an artificial womb?"

The baby was only five months along; another five and the child could be born naturally from the mother. Both parents had SSS-tier talent; their child would surely be no less extraordinary, perhaps even surpassing them.

What a pity.

"We’re sure. When can the procedure be arranged?" Tuss asked.

"We can arrange it now. I’ll have my team prepare immediately," the doctor replied.

Knowing why they wanted to move their child to an artificial womb at this time, the doctor would even delay non-emergency surgeries to accommodate them.

The process of removing the embryo from the mother and placing it in the artificial womb took less than ten minutes. Yuri was still under the effects of anesthesia, lying in the medical pod.

Tuss, on the other hand, followed their "baby" to the nursery, quietly feeding all the Enova from the crystal core into the artificial womb.

"This should be enough for a few days. Be good, we’ll come to get you once we’re done dealing with the insectoids," Tuss whispered softly.

"The hospital is crowded and unsafe for the baby. It would be better to move to our military hospital. Although it’s small, it has all the necessary facilities. We’ll guard the baby with our lives," Xiva suddenly appeared behind Tuss.

Coming along with Xiva was Commander Ho. He didn’t say anything, but his erect posture beside Xiva gave a sense of dependability.

Tuss hesitated for a few seconds before replying carefully, "Then I’ll have to trouble you."

Xiva shook his head. "We’re doing this all for the Alliance, and so that you can focus on your mission without worries."

When Tuss left Planet 4581 in his red and green mecha, all the stationed soldiers came out to bid him farewell.

Yuri, lying in the medical pod, was oblivious to all of this.

The mecha traveled at top speed. When Yuri woke up, they were just a day’s journey away from the ore planet.

"How are you feeling? Are you okay?" Tuss asked her, his attention focused entirely on her.

Yuri lifted her shirt to look at her stomach. It was white and smooth, without a single scar.

Unexpectedly, she felt a touch of melancholy.

"I feel so well that I almost believe it was all a dream, that I just imagined the whole thing about our baby."

Tuss gently patted her head. "You’ll see him when we get back. It wasn’t just your imagination."

Yuri nodded and said, "I’m going to check on the current situation on the ore planet on the interstellarnet."

There were dozens of live streams from the battlefield. Some were from the military, while others were from different organizations or individuals. Without exception, they could only be filmed from afar.
