I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 172: Down to the Sea

Chapter 172: Down to the Sea

The all-steel lab turned into a lump of metal, and all the people inside turned into a spray of blood, seeping into the ground.

The ground under the single-story building was empty. With a forceful stomp, Tuss brought the building crashing down, leaving a big hole in the ground.

Snowflakes began to fall, and before long, the bottom of the hole was covered in white snow. Unless someone knew this place, they wouldn’t know that there had been two buildings here.

Tuss sent the evidence he had collected, including pictures and recordings, to Officer Lyao.

Soon, Officer Lyao sent a message back: I’ll send people to arrest them, send me the location.

Tuss replied, emotionless: They’re all dead.

Officer Lyao: You acted too rashly.

Tuss: They said they would go after Yuri again tomorrow.

Officer Lyao: Then... GOOD JOB.

Tuss returned to his and Yuri’s two-story home late at night.

A warm light had been left on for him in the living room. Seeing this light immediately eased his exhaustion.

First, he took a bath in the downstairs bathroom before heading up to his bedroom. His night vision allowed him to see the face he’d missed all day, even without a light.

Tuss lay down in bed, and Yuri, deep in sleep, sensed his familiar and comforting scent and unconsciously moved closer.

Tuss watched this scene, his heart softening.

"I’m sorry," Tuss whispered, gently pulling Yuri into his arms.

He had watched her live stream today and heard the explosion. In that moment, his heart felt as if it had been shattered, causing him physical pain.

At that moment, he finally understood why many alphas chose to perish with their betas after losing them.

Soon after, he flew towards her location in his mech.

But before he could arrive, she had escaped on her own, even starting a live stream. Seeing her safe and sound, his broken heart slowly began to heal.

Although she was okay, the hidden danger was still there. He wanted to eliminate the danger in the dark, so he turned around and went to Planet 4583.

The next morning, Yuri opened her eyes to meet a pair of deep eyes.

"Morning," Tuss greeted her, "Xiva said you were startled yesterday, so she gave you a couple of days off. You don’t have to get up early today, you can sleep in."

Yuri blinked, ignoring Tuss and turning her back to him.

"Are you mad?" Tuss turned her back around.

Yuri glared at him, "Last night you were on another planet, tell me, what were you doing?"

Seeing her glaring eyes, Tuss wasn’t scared in the slightest, instead he found it incredibly cute. He couldn’t help but pinch her face, "I was on a case. I found an illegal underground lab. I destroyed it last night."

All of Yuri’s pent up anger from the night vanished, "Was it dangerous?"

Tuss looked at her quietly, and after three seconds, he sighed softly, "Compared to the danger you faced yesterday, it’s not even worth mentioning."

Since there was no patrol, Yuri didn’t stream and left a message saying she would take two days off, so she wouldn’t be streaming for the next couple of days.

"I’m going mining." Yuri stretched her hand towards Tuss, indicating for him to pass her the dimensional button.

Tuss placed his hand over hers and said, "Sweetheart, let’s stay on Planet 4581 today. Thinking about yesterday’s incident still gives me chills."

Yuri looked at his scared face and rolled her eyes, "Fine, I won’t go. But then I’ll head to the mech repair section to learn. Yesterday, I brought back four mechs. Do they count as my spoils of war?"

Seeing her gleeful look, Tuss said, "Anything found ownerless outside the Alliance territory naturally belongs to you."

"Hehe, then my assets just increased again." Yuri said, delightfully.

"Not just once." Tuss handed her the lev he had confiscated from those two men the previous night, "This is yours too."

"Doesn’t it count as loot?" Yuri raised an eyebrow.

"No, it doesn’t." Nobody saw anyway.

Tuss thought to himself, unbothered.

Since Yuri didn’t have to patrol today, she left the house a bit late. As she was passing by the soldiers’ dorms, she bumped into a group of soldiers ready to head out.

"Officer." The soldiers saluted her in unison, shouting out loud.

Yuri saluted back, saying, "Don’t be so formal next time, be more relaxed."

"Yes, ma’am!" They shouted in unison again.

"What are you guys up to?" Yuri looked at their gear and the things they were carrying and asked out of curiosity.

"We’re going fishing in the sea." The leading soldier replied.

"Is the sea far from here?" Yuri asked, intrigued.

"Not if we drive the mechas. It takes less than an hour. Would you like to join us, ma’am?" The soldier earnestly invited Yuri.

"Do we have a lot of fish in the sea?" Yuri asked, interested.

"There are few people and vast ocean here. Not only are there plenty of fish and shrimps in the sea, they are also particularly big." The soldier showed a few pictures of their usual fish catch to Yuri.

Looking at the pictures, Yuri’s interest piqued, "I want to go too."

The small squad had a total of nine soldiers. The team leader was named Brian Chow, an A-tier alpha who had been serving at the 458 Defense Line for three years.

With him leading the way, Yuri followed closely behind.

The mecha’s public chat channel was quiet.

"Can I start a livestream?" Yuri asked.

"Of course, no problem. We watch your livestream every day."

"For those of us who can’t watch in real-time, we catch up later."

"How did you escape the dangerous situation yesterday?"

As soon as Yuri started talking, the others immediately became active.

While logging into the interstellarnet and setting up her device, Yuri replied, "I used my speed. When I realized something was wrong yesterday, I rushed out of the cave and covered myself with a metal shield."

Hearing this, the soldiers understood, "So that’s how."

An hour later, Yuri arrived at the seaside with Brian and the others.

Looking at the ice on the sea, Yuri got goosebumps, "Isn’t the water cold?"

"It’s warmer than onshore. You can wear a temperature-controlled diving suit." Brian said, and pulled out a diving suit from the dimensional button, "Although it’s a men’s suit, it’s brand new."

Yuri accepted it, "Thank you."

After changing into her diving suit inside the mech, Yuri stepped out to find Brian and the others ready as well. They went into the sea first, with Yuri following closely behind.

The number of viewers in the livestream slowly increased.

"Wow, the bodies of those nine soldiers look great."

"Do you think Yuri sneaked away?"

"Tuss is on his way."

"The previous comment isn’t right. Tuss is currently battling insectoids. He’s lucky today, he encountered a group of level-four and five insectoids."

"So meeting a group of level four and five insectoids is considered lucky?"

"Not for us, but for him, it’s like astracredits delivered to his door."

"I see."

...

After entering the sea, Yuri picked a direction for herself and swam towards the depths of the ocean floor.

The soldiers looked at each other in confusion. In the end, Brian stepped forward and made a hand gesture to the others, indicating that he would follow Yuri, and they could do as they pleased.

Seeing this, the others scattered in the sea.

Unaware of Brian following her, Yuri was busy searching around. She was planning to gather a complete set of gifts for the old technician in the repair department. Despite there being no formal teacher-student relationship, they shared the bond of a mentor and student.

She owed him a gift.

"Sea cucumbers, sea urchins, lobsters, crabs and the like, I want the best quality ones." Yuri thought to herself.

Thinking this, she dived even deeper.

Seeing this, Brian gritted his teeth and followed her. However, in a short while, his ears began to ring and he uncontrollably floated upwards.
