I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 146: Tuss Departed
Chapter 146: Tuss Departed
From Yuri’s arrival to the resolution of Master Vonyee’s consciousness collapse, the whole process took less than five minutes. Throughout it all, her face didn’t change, not even a furrow in her brow. It seemed as if this was the simplest thing in the world for her.
Astra, Zenitha, and Electra stood by, witnessing the entire event. When Yuri’s psychic power was unleashed, they felt an overpowering force, making their faces turn pale. The disparity between them and Yuri was clear.
No wonder Officer Lyao said he wouldn’t trade ten SSS-tier betas for one Yuri.
Officer Lyao wasn’t exaggerating. He truly believed that, and given the choice, he would have made the same decision. Because ten of them didn’t measure up to one Yuri.
"All settled, let’s go check on Master Vonyee." Yuri withdrew her psychic power and led the way to the workshop door.
Tuss followed her closely, in a protective stance.
Tuss remained focused, oblivious to the fact that ever since he arrived, a pair of eyes had been fixed on him, never straying.
However, even if he noticed, he probably wouldn’t care.
The soldiers and employees were in disbelief. Is everything okay already?
"Do you have a key to this door?" Yuri asked an employee nearby.
"Oh, yes, yes, I do." The employee snapped back to reality and hurried over.
Soldiers followed suit, immediately dialing for medical backup.
This was a door equipped with facial, fingerprint, and iris scanners, but no matter how many times the employee tried, there was no response.
"Master Vonyee probably locked it from the inside, fearing we would rush in against advice," the employee choked out.
"What now? Wait, or break in?" Yuri probed Master Vonyee’s condition psychically and concluded, "If we wait for the master to wake up, it could be a long time."
The employee gritted his teeth, "Then let’s break in. I’ll call for help now."
"No need," Tuss, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke, "I’ll do it."
The employee shook his head, "This door is incredibly sturdy. It might not even open with a bomb."
"No need for such trouble," Tuss said, and walked straight to the door, placing his hands on it.
To the others, it seemed he had done nothing. But the next moment, the door, which was supposed to be impervious to bombs, was gently pushed open by him.
The workshop’s alarm went off, snapping the stunned employees back to reality. They rushed in and turned off the alarm.
Yuri and the others also entered the workshop.
Upon stepping into the workshop, Yuri’s eyes widened in amazement, she muttered, "Now this is a true mecha workshop."
"Do you like it here?" Tuss asked.
Yuri nodded without hesitation, "I do."
Tuss seemed troubled, "I’m not sure what to do, I can’t provide something like this. But, you could ask Master Vonyee if he could let you intern here."
Yuri’s eyes lit up, of course, interning here would be better than groping around on her own.
"I’ll ask him when he wakes up," Yuri said, unable to hide her excitement.
Master Vonyee woke up on the third day, and immediately initiated a video call with Yuri.
"Did you save me?" Master Vonyee asked.
Yuri nodded, "Yes."
"How can I repay you?" Master Vonyee cut straight to the chase.
"I want to intern at your workshop, is that okay?" Yuri was surprisingly anxious, fearing the old man’s rejection, despite having faced hordes of zombies and level eight insectoids without flinching.
Master Vonyee thought for a moment, then asked, "You’re a mecha manufacturing major?"
"Yes, in my second year." Yuri replied, trying to seem as earnest as possible.
"Only second year, huh..." Master Vonyee frowned slightly.
"I’m the top of my class, and I’ve self-studied all of the third-year curriculum. I’m currently studying the fourth year’s curriculum." Yuri quickly added, noticing his hesitation.
An approving glint passed through Master Vonyee’s eyes as he said, "Report to the workshop tomorrow. Someone will get you once you’re there."
"Okay." Yuri was so excited she wanted to scream, but she held back. It wasn’t until she ended the call that she bolted out of the workshop, sprinted into the house, and leaped onto Tuss, announcing, "I can start my internship tomorrow."
"Congratulations." Tuss affectionately patted her head.
"But I won’t be able to stay at home with you anymore." Yuri said apologetically.
Tuss hesitated a moment before saying, "Yuri, there’s something I need to tell you as well."
"Hm?" Yuri looked at him intently, "You seem serious, what is it?"
"I’ve applied to Officer Lyao to undertake a mission. He’s agreed and asked me to investigate a beta trafficking case. So, I’m leaving Planet alpha tomorrow." Tuss continued, gently kissing her forehead, "I don’t know how long I’ll be gone. You’ll probably have to get through the next heat cycle on your own. So, if anyone should apologize, it’s me."
Yuri was taken aback. She had been on this planet for a year, and nearly every day she had been with Tuss. Often, they even spent the nights together. The sudden news of his departure left her feeling like a part of her had been hollowed out.
For a moment, she didn’t want to go to Master Vonyee’s workshop anymore; she wanted to accompany him on his mission.
"Yuri?" Tuss gently called her name.
Yuri pushed down her reluctance and said, "Be safe. I’ll wait for you here on Planet alpha."
"Alright." Tuss’s voice was low and husky. He kissed his way down her forehead, "Yuri, we haven’t seen each other for many days. How about we make up for lost time tonight?"
"No more than three times." She had to go to Master Vonyee’s workshop tomorrow and needed to be in good shape.
Tuss glanced at the time, it was just past noon, "Let’s start now then. Let’s finish three times of mine first, and then let’s deal with yours..."
"That’s not how it works—" Yuri’s words were cut off by Tuss’s kiss, and she never got to finish her sentence.
The next morning when Yuri woke up, Tuss’s spot beside her was already empty. She sent out her psychic power to search and found that the familiar presence was no longer in the manor.
"Habits are such terrifying things," Yuri muttered to herself. With Tuss gone, everything felt off.
This feeling persisted until she entered Master Vonyee’s workshop. It wasn’t until she was kept busy by her seniors there, that thoughts of Tuss faded from her mind, receding to a corner of her heart.
On the tenth day after Tuss’s departure, Yuri’s heat cycle made its forceful appearance.
That night, she was tormented by the sudden rush of need until she was deprived of any rational thought.
Her bedsheets were soaked with sweat, so drenched they could almost be wrung out.
Yuri tossed and turned in bed. Her heart felt empty, as did her body. The endless void of loneliness and isolation threatened to drive her mad.
She yearned for Tuss, for his pheromones. She longed for his embrace, for his kisses—
