Chapter 132: Yuri’s Counterstrike
Tuss had no clue that he was being watched. One day, as usual, he went to pick up Yuri after school, and they both headed to the cafeteria together.
"Find us a spot, Yuri. I’ll get our lunch," Tuss suggested.
Yuri, whose attention was still fixed on her opticomputer as she revised for midterms next week, didn’t even glance around. She simply picked a random seat and sat down.
To her surprise, as soon as she sat down, a crowd quickly filled the table behind her. And just her luck, they were all exchange students from the Empire, including Prince Theodore, Prince Herbert, Princess Jira, and several other Empire students.
Yuri didn’t notice any of this. She remained engrossed in her opticomputer. Tuss, returning with two trays of food, raised an eyebrow but kept quiet. He calmly sat down across from Yuri.
"Dude," Hoolin approached like a gust of wind, lowering his voice, "Why’d you guys choose this spot?"
Daleks, Ender, and Kilana had also arrived, their expressions thoughtful.
Looking puzzled, Yuri lifted her head and asked, "What’s wrong with this place?"
Hoolin gestured with his eyes for her to check behind. As Yuri turned around, Theodore was looking her way. Their eyes met, and Theodore gave her a nod. Yuri returned to her opticomputer, expressionless.
"Do you want to move?" Hoolin asked.
Shaking her head, Yuri replied, "Nope, let’s eat. I don’t have much time. I have to go to the library afterward."
"I’ll go with you," Tuss added.
Hoolin was flabbergasted. He pointed at Tuss and Yuri, asking Daleks, "Why are they not seeming tense at all?"
Daleks glanced at him sympathetically and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, thinking, Ah, the bliss of ignorance.
Seeing that Ender, Daleks, and Kilana also started eating without intending to leave, Hoolin decided to stay as well. He began to devour his food in huge bites, almost as if venting his frustration. Something’s up. They’re all too cool about this, he thought.
Even though Yuri and the others were not talking and appeared unfazed, they were far from relaxed. They knew they should stay alert, with potential enemies behind them.
So, when Tuss furrowed his brows slightly, they were immediately aware.
Tuss, noticing their worried glances, shook his head, indicating that he was fine.
A fleeting flicker of murderous intent flashed in Yuri’s eyes, so quickly that Hoolin wondered if he had imagined it. By the time he attempted to confirm what he saw, Yuri was casually enjoying her food.
Did I just see things? Hoolin wondered.
Behind Yuri and her friends, Princess Jira was secretly grinding her teeth. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead and slowly trickled down her beautiful face.
It was only when Yuri and her friends left that she let out a huge sigh of relief and slumped in her chair.
"Did it work?" Herbert asked eagerly.
Shaking her head, Jira replied, "His mental shield is too strong. I couldn’t break through."
Frowning, Theodore asked, "What about if you had more time?"
Still shaking her head, Jira answered, "This guy, Tuss, is different. His shield is too robust. No matter how hard I tried, there was no change at all."
"How could this be? You’re just a step away from SSS-tier. If you can’t enter his Sea of Consciousness, then who’s the one helping him with that?" Theodore narrowed his eyes, contemplating something, "Tuss must have a close relationship with that SSS-tier beta. Order an investigation, starting with people close to Tuss."
Theodore and his party left the cafeteria and strolled towards their villa, a group of about a dozen chatting and laughing. It looked like a cheerful scene until a scream echoed out.
Jira was crouched on the ground, clutching her head.
"Guard!" Herbert shouted, shielding Jira and scanning the surroundings warily. However, aside from students in the distance, there was nobody else within a hundred yards.
The Empire’s students were confused but formed a protective circle around Jira.
"It must be that SSS-tier beta." Theodore’s face was stormy.
Gritting his teeth, Herbert said, "Check the surroundings for any suspicious individuals."
"Understood." The dozen or so exchange students immediately dispersed.
"Well done, Yuri!" Daleks cheered, his face filled with excitement.
"She deserves to feel this kind of pain firsthand." Kilana spoke with a satisfying tone of vengeance.
"Isn’t this just narrowing down their search?" Ender pondered.
"Forget about it. They’re becoming more arrogant. It’s time to teach them a lesson." Daleks vented. It was frustrating to feel so oppressed in his own territory.
Yuri was indifferent. Anyone who dared to touch her or Tuss would pay the price, no matter who they were.
"You, you, you all..." Hoolin pointed at Daleks, Kilana, Ender, and finally Yuri and Tuss, incredulously stuttering, "And I’m just standing here, like a fool, oblivious to everything."
"At least you’re not the last to know." Daleks tried to comfort him.
"There were signs. If you’d been more observant, you wouldn’t be the last to know." Ender bluntly retorted.
"Why would you believe that Yuri, just an omega, would have such strength?" Kilana questioned.
Hoolin stammered, "Didn’t everyone say Yuri is an... android?"
The word "android" was barely audible.
"You actually believed that?" Daleks widened his eyes and looked at Hoolin as if he were a fool. "Tyrone, Vernon, Jo, Delamak, none of them believe it. Why did you?"
Hoolin doubted everything, "They don’t believe it? Then why did they say they wanted to order some androids from the factory?"
"That’s just an excuse to tease Tuz, don’t you think?" Ender shook his head.
Yuri and Tuss had already walked away, leaving the conversation behind.
News about the attack on Jira’s Sea of Consciousness, and her subsequent injury, spread quickly. Although the Empire’s people didn’t openly discuss it, many had witnessed the incident.
As soon as Officer Lyao received the news, he sent a message to Yuri: "Did you make a move on Jira?"
Yuri replied, "She was attacking Tuss’s mental shield."
Officer Lyao warned, "Stay safe, and don’t wander alone during this period."
Yuri responded, "Understood."
Still feeling uneasy, Officer Lyao added, "I’ll send some weapons and medicines over to you."
Yuri answered, "Okay."
After getting injured, Jira stayed quiet for a while.
Yuri put all her focus into studying for the upcoming midterms. A week later, the exams arrived.
"Relax, don’t stress, just treat it as usual." Arya comforted her.
"I’m not stressed. You too, Arya, stay calm, and good luck," Yuri said with a smile, "I’m heading to the exam now. See you tonight, Arya."
Yuri truly wasn’t stressed. With her enhanced psychic power, her memory had improved greatly, almost to the point of photographic recall.
She had already memorized the knowledge for this semester, and had reviewed numerous books and videos related to her mecha manufacturing major. She felt confident about tackling the midterm exams.
