I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 120: Wicked Experiments
Chapter 120: Wicked Experiments
Yuri couldn’t understand the heap of data he was looking at, but she knew it must be about her. Am I more than just an SSS?
From what she had learned, there had only been one SSS-tier beta in the entire galaxy, and that was a thousand years ago. That was the only one recorded in history.
And a four S’s? Forget beta; there wasn’t even an SSSS-tier alpha.
The old man quivered with excitement, unable to calm down. Just when it seemed like he was about to pass out, he picked up a syringe with his trembling hand and injected a dose of some sort of medicine into his body.
As the medicine spread through his body, he visibly steadied himself.
"Unprecedented... what a miracle," he murmured, hastily making his way toward the transparent container where Yuri was.
Yuri watched as if she was a bystander as he clipped her nails, plucked her hair, took tissue samples from her body, drew her blood...
Yuri concluded that this old man must be some sort of mad scientist. The wicked, inhuman kind.
Seeing that the old man had no intention of killing her, at least for now, Yuri decided to ignore him. Her priority was to find her necklace with the dimensional button and figure out how to return to her own body.
Ever since her jacket had been stolen last time, she had put a psychic lock on her dimensional button. With the psychic lock, even if someone got their hands on her dimensional button, they couldn’t open it, let alone retrieve anything from it.
Following the vibrations of her psychic power, Yuri quickly found her dimensional button. Not just hers, but Tuss’s as well, both necklaces quietly resting inside a metal box.
Yuri tried to open the box, but moving both necklaces back to her body was proving difficult, draining a significant amount of her psychic power.
So, she decided to give up for now.
"I need to scout the area first," she decided.
Yuri drifted out of the lab, finding herself in a long hallway stretching as far as her eyes could see, with neatly lined rooms on both sides.
Everything was bathed in a stark white, reminiscent of scenes she’d seen in horror movies. It gave her the chills.
She had a hunch that these rooms held nothing good.
Fueled by curiosity, Yuri decided to check out each room.
What she saw made her stomach churn. Creatures, part human and part beast, barely clinging to life inside petri dishes; bodies combined of parts from humans and wild animals, humans and insectoids, all twisted into bizarre shapes.
Each "creation" was hooked up to various tubes, likely their only lifeline. Without them, these monstrosities probably wouldn’t last for more than a few minutes.
This place was performing horrifying human-beast experiments.
Yuri’s spiritual form trembled with rage. She wanted nothing more than to incinerate this place into ashes, but she knew she couldn’t, not yet.
She clenched her teeth and continued exploring, soon coming across complete human beings. However, their eyes were blank as they allowed the scientists in white coats to inject various substances into their bodies, transforming them into something neither human nor monster...
It would have been a mercy to let them die.
Yuri’s desire to destroy this place grew stronger, her psychic power stirring restlessly.
She told herself to be patient, to wait until she had fully explored the area. Then, she would annihilate this horrific, lunatic place.
Eventually, Yuri found herself in a noisy room where she saw three female betas. They were watching the scientist in the white coat in terror, pleading, "No, don’t remove our marks."
The scientist wore a sinister smile, his voice soothing as he tried to coax them. "Don’t be afraid. Once the marks are removed, you’ll be free."
"No, we will die," the three female betas insisted, clearly aware of the implications of removing the marks. Their faces were pale, their eyes pleading.
"If you don’t remove the marks, what use are you to us? You’ll die anyway," the scientist said harshly. But the next second, he was smiling again, "Once you endure the pain of mark removal, you’ll live comfortably here. Be good. It’ll be over soon."
Yuri knew what mark removal meant. It was the process of completely removing an alpha’s mark from a beta. It was like a lock that only accepted one key, and to insert another, the original key had to be removed.
The process was agonizing, and those who couldn’t endure it would die.
Those who survived were left physically and psychologically damaged, with lingering effects.
That was why the Alliance had explicit rules against hospitals removing beta’s marks, unless their alpha was dead.
As the needle moved closer and closer, the three female betas looked on with a mixture of horror and despair.
Snap.
The needle broke. It all happened so quickly. The broken tip whizzed through the air, stabbing directly into the white-coated scientist’s eyeball.
A ghastly scream echoed throughout the underground lab.
The three betas looked at each other in confusion, frozen in place. What has just happened?
They looked towards the door of the room, which remained closed without any sign of having been opened.
And in the room, besides them, immobilized as they were, the only other person was the scientist.
Can it be that the scientist’s evildoings has finally drawn divine retribution?
The idea seemed ridiculous, but the three women couldn’t think of any other explanation. Not only had Yuri pierced the scientist’s eyeball with the needle, but she also used her psychic power to penetrate his skull, destroying his Sea of Consciousness.
If possible, she would have preferred to end him with a single stroke. Such a man was nothing but a pollutant, a waste of air.
The scientist’s agonizing screams attracted the guards. Yuri watched as they rushed in, each one burly and fierce-looking.
These men were desperadoes.
Yuri was alarmed. These men didn’t look like traffickers, but more like ruthless pirates.
"What happened to the guy on the floor?" one of the pirates demanded, pointing his gun at the three female betas. He glanced at the scientist on the floor, with burst eyeballs and blood flowing from all his orifices, breathing his last breaths.
"We don’t know, he suddenly ended up like this," the betas cried.
"Beat them up first. These delicate betas fear pain the most. Give them a beating, and they’ll tell us the truth," another man suggested, speaking from experience.
"Such beautiful women, can you really do it?"
"If not, then just torment them thoroughly. Make them submit to us, they will still obey."
"Heh, that’s not a bad idea. Conveniently, one for each of us, no need to fight over."
The pirates laughed ominously, moving closer to the betas while stripping off their vests and unbuckling their belts.
"Look at these soft skins, tormenting them must feel really good."
"Take it easy, don’t kill them, after all, they are valuable betas."
"Don’t worry, I’m waiting for them to help me manage my Sea of Consciousness, I won’t kill them."
The three betas huddled together, faces filled with grief, and a hint of determination flashed across them.
Rather than staying here and being violated, they would rather die.
They exchanged glances, each seeing the others’ determination in their eyes.
Just as they were about to bite down in a bid to end their own lives, a piercing alarm sounded.
The three pirates cursed under their breaths, hurriedly dressed, and rushed out of the room.
