Chapter 104: [Bonus Chapter]Misunderstanding
Yuri was surprised that the first day of school wasn’t the opening ceremony but a health check. What’s more, she was told she was exempt.
While everyone else was lining up for their various tests, Yuri was left with nothing to do but wander around the school. Well, not exactly wander; she was familiarizing herself with the different college departments, classroom buildings, cafeterias, and the campus bus routes.
The original host had studied here for half a year. It would be a bit odd if she weren’t familiar with the layout of the buildings.
"Yuri doesn’t need a health check?"
The students in the first class of the Mecha Manufacturing Department had been eager to see this classmate who had taken a half-year leave of absence. They were shocked when the teacher informed them Yuri didn’t need a check.
"Why not?" Every first day of the semester, everyone had to get a health check. They had never seen an exception. Even if someone was ill, they would still need to get up and attend the check. Missing it meant a lot of trouble with make-ups. And without the health check results, many school courses and activities would turn you away.
Now, there was actually an exemption.
What a surprise!
"I don’t know," the teacher shook her head. It was an order from higher-ups. She wanted to investigate the reason but was surprised to find that Yuri’s identity information was at the highest level of confidentiality, which made her quite startled.
What had happened to Yuri in the past six months made everyone curious.
It wasn’t until the opening ceremony in the evening that the students from the Mecha Manufacturing Department finally saw Yuri again.
Looking at this aloof beauty, they found her unrecognizable. Although it had only been half a year, she seemed like a completely different person, making them feel utterly unfamiliar.
"Actually, to be precise, Yuri didn’t take a full semester off. She got injured less than a month into the second semester. So how did she manage to change so much in just a few months?" One student asked.
No one present could answer his question. They were all equally baffled.
"Yuri," Daleks rushed over from the Mecha Combat Department, swiftly tossed a small bag onto her lap, and motioned for her to hide it.
Yuri pocketed the bag, which was only half the size of her fist, and asked, "What is this?"
"Candy. All sorts of flavors. If you get bored later, you can have some," Daleks explained before darting back to his own class.
He was like a gust of wind.
The whole scene left everyone present in shock. Who dares to make a move on Tuss’s girl?
On the other side, watching Daleks rush away and then hurry back, Ender asked, "Where’d you go?"
"I brought Yuri some snacks," Daleks replied.
Ender raised an eyebrow, "Does Tuz know about this?"
Daleks rolled his eyes, "Do I look like the type to cross lines? I’ve already informed him."
"So, as long as you inform, you can give her things?" Vernon chimed in.
"Yeah, is it just a matter of informing?"
"Can I give her something too?"
Others joined in, their interest piqued.
"Go away, you guys. Instead of finding girlfriends of your own, you’re all interested in someone else’s girlfriend." Daleks brushed away the heads crowding around him.
"Hey, Daleks, give us a chance. We want to get to know Tuss’s wife who seems even more formidable than Tuss himself."
"You’re brave enough, go find Tuss yourself."
"We wouldn’t dare. The minute we mention Yuri, he gives us the cold shoulder."
"Well, then I can’t help you."
"Come on, Daleks, you have Yuri’s contact number, right? Share it with us."
"No chance."
"..."
Opening ceremonies are invariably dull, and that’s true in any world.
Yuri spent most of the ceremony in a daydream, eyes vacant, chewing on the candies Daleks had given her. She wasn’t sure what kind of candy it was, not overly sweet, but the flavor seemed to intensify with each chew.
It wasn’t until the student representative speeches that Yuri began to pay attention. There were four student representatives in all, two old students, two new ones. Yuri recognized two of them, Tuss and Hoolin.
Yuri was puzzled. Can a student who had been on leave for half a year still be a representative?
When Tuss appeared, Yuri noticed the increased number of glances directed at her, a few of which carried a hefty dose of malice.
Yuri remained calm, her eyes fixed on a certain upright figure on the stage. Tuss in his uniform was an exceptionally handsome sight.
Tuss, on stage, was also looking towards the audience. Given the dim light, locating Yuri should have been challenging, yet he locked onto her instantly.
Amidst the crowd, she seemed to shine with a gentle, calm radiance.
After the ceremony, Yuri went with the flow of people exiting. Just as she stepped outside the auditorium, she was stopped.
Faced with over twenty towering young men and a group of elegant, tall beauties at their side, Yuri furrowed her brows. Am I about to experience some sort of schoolyard bullying?
In this moment, she felt a strange sense of anticipation.
"Hey, what are you guys doing?" A voice echoed from behind Yuri. She recognized him from photos of the first class of the Mecha Manufacturing Department. His name was Sagato Woo, their class president.
Sagato stood in front of Yuri, and several other girls came along with him, standing beside Yuri.
Not only them, but gradually, the other students from the Mecha Manufacturing Department gathered.
Clearly divided sides stood opposing each other before the auditorium.
"Seems like there’s been some misunderstanding."
"A big misunderstanding, at that."
"What do we do now?"
"Of course, we clear the misunderstanding."
The people on the other side were whispering amongst themselves, their faces showing signs of unease.
Hearing their conversation, Yuri’s forehead creased. She took the initiative to ask, "Do you need something from me?"
"We’d like to invite you to the mecha training room tomorrow night," a young man, who was pushed to the front, said loudly. Upon finishing, his face turned red, reaching all the way down to his neck.
"Sure," Yuri agreed.
The group on the other side was stunned. Is that it?
"Is there anything else?" Yuri asked.
"No, nothing else. See you tomorrow night, Mrs. Hiro," the young man shyly replied.
Yuri nodded, "See you tomorrow."
"The people from Class One are here, everyone, run!"
Someone suddenly shouted.
"Holy cow, they’re quick. Let’s go!"
The next second, the more than twenty young men and the few girls in front of Yuri disappeared, running off at an astonishing speed.
"Yuri, did those jerks from Class Two bully you?" Daleks asked, clenching his fists, looking like he was ready to start a fight if she answered yes.
"No, they invited me to the mecha training room tomorrow." So it was the people from the second class.
"You didn’t agree, did you?" Daleks stared at her.
"I did. Was I not supposed to?" Was there a grudge between Classes One and Class Two?"
"Of course not. I was about to invite you. Our class also wants to go to the training room with you." Daleks spoke anxiously.
"How about the day after tomorrow then?" Yuri also seemed to be in a bit of a perplexity.
The evenings at Military Academy No. 1 were free, to be arranged at each student’s discretion.
"That works. I’ll go tell them." After saying that, Daleks turned around and ran towards the students from the Mecha Combat Department first class, not far away.
After this misunderstanding, the students from the first class of the Mecha Manufacturing Department were slightly embarrassed. They were just about to retreat quietly when they heard Yuri say, "Thank you all for just now."
"It’s nothing, we didn’t really help."
"We’re classmates, it’s no big deal. No need to thank us."
"Miss Cheng, you’re too polite."
The crowd spoke up, drawing everyone closer together.
