I Have A Sword -
Chapter 1443: Blue Robe, Plain Skirt
Chapter 1443: Blue Robe, Plain Skirt
Inside the Ruler Divine Temple, Sui Gujin and Ye Guan stared at each other. Sui Gujin no longer wore the calm and composed expression she had before. Her beautiful eyes now reflected confusion and shock.
Seeing that, Ye Guan smiled and said, "The trap was so seamless and perfect. Are you wondering how I managed to figure it out?"
Sui Gujin nodded.
Ye Guan said, "Because you're too brilliant."
Sui Gujin stared at him, puzzled.
Ye Guan smiled faintly and said, "Along my journey, I've rarely admired anyone, but I admire you, especially after reading 'Ten Policies to Benefit the People,' which you wrote for Mu Shuo to govern the Guanxuan Universe.
"That was when I truly understood how much I still lacked. Later on, when you helped me govern the Guanxuan Universe, and the things you did in the Academy... you truly impressed me."
A spark of excitement lit up in Ye Guan's eyes, and his expression became animated, revealing a childlike joy. "And do you know what it feels like to be around you? I once said that I liked looking into your eyes, but actually... I was also afraid of them.
"Because your eyes are full of wisdom, and they can see through the innocent facade I put on, the shameful motives underneath, and even the secrets buried deep inside me."
Looking at him behaving so excitedly like a child, a faint ripple stirred in the depths of Sui Gujin's heart for the first time.
Ye Guan smiled. "You're so smart and so... powerful. Why would someone like you choose me? Why would you do that? Compared to you, my Order is still immature. How could someone immature ever catch your eye?
"As for my aunt, who created the Qingxuan Sword and the mysterious spacetime within the pagoda, I know you admire her. But me? Ye Guan?
"What do I have that's worthy of your admiration? I've asked myself that again and again... and the answer is nothing. Not a single thing."
The woman before him was unmatched in brilliance. How could she ever fall for him? The more deeply she acted in love, the more he realized that something wasn't right.
From the very beginning, it had all been a setup. It was all a trap.
Sui Gujin looked at him, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. She hadn't expected that he was aware of the trap from the very beginning.
Ye Guan continued, "Maybe others would think that you ought to have chosen me. Why? Because my aunt and my father are so powerful that they are invincible, but I knew that you wouldn't do that. Definitely not."
Sui Gujin stared at him. "Why?"
Ye Guan replied, "Because you're Sui Gujin. You would never entrust your fate to someone else. You want to hold your fate in your own hands. You want to shape your own fate."
Upon hearing that, a ripple stirred in Sui Gujin's eyes. For the first time, she realized just how little she truly knew about the man before her, while he seemed to know so much about her.
Sui Gujin looked straight at him. "Since you knew from the beginning, then why..."
Instead of answering the question, Ye Guan turned to look at the Ruler Divine Throne. Then, he softly said, "I once said that I wanted to unify the vast expanse and establish a brand-new order.
"Now that I'm looking at it again, aside from some hot-blooded passion, what else do I have? I don't understand politics; I don't understand laws, and I don't know how to govern a region. I also lack vision...
"Actually, my father and aunt knew all these flaws of mine from the very beginning. They knew, and still, they let me try. And they gave everything they had to support me.
"If I, Ye Guan, was ever good at something, it'd be my luck. I was born lucky. I have an amazing aunt and father. They always have my back."
Sui Gujin slowly turned to face the Ruler Divine Throne, which was just a few steps away.
"I've been using you this whole time," she said.
"I know." Ye Guan nodded. "Do you remember what my father said to me before he left? He told me not to worry about the schemes and that what matters most is acting with a clear conscience.
"He told me that he always has my back..."
"I finally realized that he wasn't telling me to become obsessed with building a grand Order. He was telling me to live this life the way I want, to be true to myself, and most importantly... to be happy.
"Whenever I'm with you, I'm happy. Whether this was a scheme or not, I just didn't think too much about it."
Sui Gujin said nothing. Her eyes were now completely calm and emotionless.
He took her hand and led her to the Ruler Divine Throne. He gently placed his hands on her shoulders and guided her to sit down.
The moment she sat, the two swords behind the throne trembled, and murderous intent locked onto her. The instant that murderous intent brushed against Ye Guan, it vanished completely. Not only that, the two swords even seemed a little afraid of him.
That familiar aura... the young man carried the bloodline of that white-robed man from long ago!
Ye Guan smiled. "You once told me you wanted to sit on a throne. I knew it wasn't the Old Lands' throne. It was thisthrone, the Ruler Divine Throne."
Sui Gujin remembered the words he had once said to her. "I'll help you."
What she said back then was true. And what he said was also true.
Ye Guan looked into her eyes and smiled. "Lady Sui, you helped me build the Guanxuan Universe's Order, rules, and systems. Today, I helped you sit on the Ruler Divine Throne.
"From now on, we owe each other nothing. May we both walk our own paths and live well."
After saying that, Ye Guan turned and walked away, not a trace of longing remained in his eyes.
People had to avoid falling for a woman with no love for them. When a woman was standing against a man who she had no love for, she would be twice as cruel and heartless. Moreover, a simp was worse than a dog.
Sui Gujin watched as Ye Guan's figure disappeared into the distance, and her vision blurred. A wave of emotion surged up from deep within her heart, one that she had never felt before, and with it came an unprecedented impulse.
She wanted to stand up and say something, but in the end, she suppressed that emotion.
Her gaze grew resolute as she stared at Ye Guan walking farther and farther away.
When Ye Guan walked out of the hall, everyone stared at him. He looked up at the Great Daoist Brush Master and smiled. "You win."
Qiu Yuan and the others heaved a heavy sigh of relief. They had never truly chosen Ye Guan. They had chosen... Sui Gujin.
It could be said that at this very moment, Ye Guan was completely alone.
Everyone present was on the Great Daoist Brush Master's side.
He never stood a chance.
The Great Daoist Brush Master looked at Ye Guan, and then he shifted his gaze to the distant Sui Gujin, whose face was still cold and emotionless. Something didn't feel quite right, but it didn't matter. The grand plan was complete.
Now, they could finally obtain the scroll beneath the Ruler Divine Throne.
Ye Guan no longer paid attention to the crowd around him. He raised his head and looked towards the distant void. Just then, the void shattered, and three figures appeared.
The three figures were Fan Zhaodi, and she was accompanied by two Civilization Founders.
Ye Gua flew slowly toward her.
Fan Zhaodi looked at him but said nothing.
When Ye Guan was right in front of her, he asked, "Are you... Yi Nian?"
Tears burst from Fan Zhaodi's eyes.
Ye Guan's heart sank, and he knew his guess was right. He stepped forward and embraced her; his voice was hoarse as he stammered, "Silly girl..."
Yi Nian clung tightly to him, tears streaming like a flood. "Husband..."
Ye Guan's voice trembled. "Back then, you must've hated me a lot, right?"
Yi Nian shook her head vigorously.
Ye Guan wrapped an arm around her shoulders and wiped her tears clean. Then, with a grin, he said, "Come on, let's go home."
Yi Nian glanced at the experts around them.
Ye Guan saw that and calmly remarked, "I've already surrendered."
With that, he took her hand and flew away.
"You think surrendering is enough?!" Shang Hongyi roared, "You think this is some kind of game, you pathetic bastard?!"
Swoosh!
She transformed into a streak of light and shot toward Ye Guan and Yi Nian. A fierce killing intent radiated from her eyes. Her clash with Ye Guan earlier told her that he was a terrifying individual.
If he were allowed to live, he would become an unimaginable threat in the future. If the root of the problem wasn't eliminated, it would always return.
Her sneak attack startled many onlookers, but they quickly understood her goal and nodded in agreement. A genius as monstrous as Ye Guan had to be killed today, or he would become a terrifying enemy tomorrow.
Surrendering wasn't enough. It wasn't about winning or losing anymore. He had to die here.
"Kill him! Eliminate the threat once and for all!"
"Strike him while he's down! Finish him!"
"We can't let him go, he's too monstrous. Letting him leave is like releasing a tiger back into the mountains. The consequences will be endless..."
"Surrender? What a joke. Kill his whole family and wipe out his bloodline!"
"Kill him!"
"Fuck him up!"
Amidst the furious roars, numerous experts charged forward. They charged alongside Shang Hongyi. They only had one goal—kill him!
The Great Daoist Brush Master's face changed drastically, and his face twisted in fury. He cursed and was about to stop Shang Hongyi, but his face stiffened. Then, his eyes became filled with terror.
At some unknown point in time, a lady in a plain skirt had appeared behind Ye Guan and Yi Nian.
"Surrendering is not enough? You want to wipe out the entire Yang Family, too? Have I been too nice to all of you?" A clear voice echoed just then.
Rumble!
The fabric of spacetime was split open, and a man in a long, blue robe slowly stepped out of the rift. His face was as cold as ice.
Shang Hongyi was unfamiliar with the lady in the plain skirt. When her avatar was slain, she couldn't retrieve her memories, so she had no idea just who the lady in a plain skirt was. However, she felt uneasy at the sight of her.
Instinctively, she changed directions and charged straight at Yang Ye instead. She glared at him, and her face contorted into a twisted grin. "Perfect, just perfect!"
Two kills or three... it didn't matter. She was going to kill them all. Once she was done with these four, she would trace them back to their roots and wipe out Ye Guan's entire family.
They had to be annihilated!
