Chapter 67: Gacha

Junior slowly opened his eyes, groaning as his body screamed in pain, each muscle sore and tight. He winced and stretched his arms, trying to shake off the discomfort. The pain was sharp and sudden, causing him to let out a strangled gasp. "Ouch, my body hurts," he muttered to himself, holding his side as he pushed himself upright.

His eyes drifted toward the window, and the sight outside caught his attention. The sky was already dark, the last traces of daylight fading into the horizon. The soft orange and purple hues of the setting sun had disappeared, leaving the world shrouded in a soft, cool evening. Junior turned back toward the bed, where he expected to find Emma still fast asleep. However, the space next to him was empty.

"Emma?" he called softly, his voice barely a whisper as he turned his head toward the spot where she should have been. But the bed was cold, and the sheets were undisturbed. His brow furrowed in confusion.

Feeling a flicker of unease, Junior swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. He immediately began to search the room, his gaze sweeping over every corner, from the desk to the small fireplace, but there was no sign of her. He walked toward the door, hesitated, then swung it open, peeking into the bathroom. It was empty. He checked the closet, under the bed, and even behind the curtains, but there was no sign of Emma.

As the last traces of hope faded, Junior sighed heavily and returned to the bed, his mood shifting from confusion to frustration. His shoulders slumped as he sat back down, and he muttered bitterly to himself, "She should have just stayed overnight."

In the midst of his self-talk, something caught his eye: a new system prompt suddenly appeared before him, disrupting his thoughts. He blinked at it, his attention shifting entirely.

[New Skills Available to Choose From]

[Skills that can be obtained from Emma and Skills that she hasn’t unlocked will be shown]

[Say the word "Status" to open the page]

Junior didn’t hesitate for a moment. "System," he muttered, and instantly, the screen opened in front of him, flickering with new information. The first thing he saw was Emma’s status.

[Status Window: Emma Watt]

Name: Emma Watt

Age: 18

Race: Human

Class: Thief

Mood: Happy and madly in love with Albert Eric Junior

He scanned the information, his eyes lingering on the last line. "So her full name is Emma Watt... her class is Thief? No wonder she could get away from people she takes things from." Junior chuckled softly. But as he read the next part, a small grin tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Madly in love with Albert Eric Junior," he whispered under his breath. "That’s new."

Excited, Junior scrolled down to the skills list. He had an eager look on his face as he continued reading, but then his eyes narrowed in confusion. There was something off about this page compared to the ones he had seen before.

[Skills]

[You have a 30% chance of getting a skill not unlocked by Emma due to the character love being maxed towards you]

"Wow, this is like a steal," Junior thought to himself, his excitement building. But then he quickly frowned. "Wait, 30%? Isn’t that kinda low?" He paused, tapping his chin in thought. "But hey, I’m used to gambling, and my luck’s pretty good. Maybe I’ll hit the jackpot like Kazuma from Konosuba."

He glanced back at the skill list and began reading the unlocked and locked skills with a more focused look.

[1. Gale Step] [Unlocked]

Junior’s heart sank as he read the list. He had been hoping for something different, something that would give him an edge. But instead, all the important skills were locked. "Why are all of her skills locked except one?" he groaned, slumping back against the bed. "So right now my chances of getting the skill I want have dropped drastically." He felt a wave of frustration wash over him. "No wonder the system gave me that 30% notification. This is literally what we call scamming."

He let out a dramatic sigh. "This is terrible. All my luck’s just gone down the drain."

Suddenly, the system prompt reappeared:

[<••> Are you going to spin for the random skills you want?]
