I Don't Want To Be An Omega In My Sister's Trashy Reverse Harem [BL] -
Chapter 37: Holy Kiss!
Chapter 37: Holy Kiss!
Rin opened his mouth, but his throat was dry. His tongue felt like a heavy rock that... no words came out.
His mind went blank. Completely.
The question... "What the hell are you?"... echoed in his ears again and again like a cursed ringtone he couldn’t silence.
It was as if Ezra knew what Rin was and wanted a confirmation from him since he didn’t use the word ’Who’.
Sweat began to crawl down his neck, and he didn’t know if it was fear or the heat radiating from Ezra’s unnatural, priestly holiness.
He had to speak. Or whisper. Even though it was gibberish.
But just when Rin’s lips parted and his brain decided to throw out whatever it could process...
"Now, now," came a familiar voice, smooth and arrogant.
A heavy arm landed on Rin’s shoulder like a weighted cloak.
"Is this how we welcome a new member now?" Lucien asked, eyes narrowed, his other hand casually resting at his hip like a noble villain stepping into the scene too late on purpose.
Rin’s eyes widened as he saw Lucien.
’Oh no... Not him.’
He almost shoved Lucien’s arm off, but before he could, he noticed something.
Ezra’s gaze changed immediately.
The moment he looked at Lucien, his expression softened, and he straightened slightly. There was a flicker of recognition in his silver eyes. fre.ewebnov el.com
"Lord Lucien," Ezra said, bowing deeply.
’Wait... did he just say Lord?!’ Rin mentally screamed. ’Why is everyone always bowing to this overgrown red flag?!’
Lucien smirked like he was used to it. He raised his hand lazily, telling Ezra,
"No need to be so formal. We’re all family here, aren’t we?"
Ezra slowly straightened as he spoke without being asked.
"The Vortellions have always been friends to the temple. It is an honour to serve your bloodline."
Rin’s jaw dropped a little.
’The entire temple is allied with the Vortellions? Are you kidding me?’
Lucien pulled Rin even closer, his arm tightening around his shoulders.
Ezra’s gaze flicked down to where they touched. He tried to hide every bit of annoyance in his eyes.
"Forgive me," he said, nodding at Rin with a slight ’fake’ smile. "It seems I’ve made you uncomfortable."
Rin blinked.
’Wait. That’s it? That fast?! What happened to "what the hell are you?"’
Ezra continued, his tone polite, like a priest hosting a tea party. His smile got even more charming as he spoke.
"I must have been mistaken. Perhaps the goddess was testing my senses today."
Rin stood dumbfounded.
’He flipped so fast. Like... how?? Is this really the same man who almost tried to perform an exorcism on my soul five minutes ago?’
Lucien took a step forward, letting go of Rin.
"Tell me something, High Priest." His voice dropped to a darker tone, just sharp enough to cut. "Is it true you can see people’s pasts and futures just by looking into their eyes?"
Ezra gave a nod.
"Yes. Though sometimes... the heavens remain silent."
Lucien stepped closer until their faces were barely a foot apart.
"Then look at me."
Rin watched, wide-eyed.
’What the hell is this bastard doing? What if he sees yesterday’s...’
Rin stopped thinking as Lucien held Ezra’s gaze. It was silent and unmoving.
Rin didn’t even breathe. He couldn’t. Not with the drama going on in front of him.
Ezra stared into Lucien’s grey eyes for a long while. Then blinked... and smiled.
"I see nothing. I guess I must have used all of my powers during the service today,"
Rin almost fell to his knees.
’Did he really see NOTHING?’
Ezra didn’t elaborate. He just bowed his head again.
But Rin could tell. Something was off.
Ezra wasn’t confused. He wasn’t surprised either. He was... suppressing something. Rin had just met him and he felt like he knew him already. He was someone who could hide his emotions easily. He is a hard person to read.
Ezra knew something was wrong with Rin. He had already found him suspicious ever since he bumped into him. But since Lucien... a Vortellion... was beside him, he was choosing silence.
And Rin knew that.
’Politics. Freaking religion and politics. Even here.’
Ezra turned back to Rin, his expression suddenly gentle.
"I apologise for earlier, Sir."
Rin squinted.
"Uhm... okay?"
Ezra offered a smile.
"May the goddess continue to guide your steps. And... if I may say... be careful with... who you grow close to."
Lucien’s smirk sharpened as he looked at Rin.
"Careful’s not in his vocabulary."
"I can tell." He replied and paused, giving them both a final glance. He could tell something was up between these two.
"Do remember," he said smoothly, "relationships between staff and students are strictly forbidden."
Rin’s head snapped up as soon as he heard that.
"Nothing is going on I swear!"
He couldn’t stop his voice from rising.
Ezra gave a knowing hum.
"Of course... I could see that. I meant no offence."
Rin grumbled under his breath,
’This world’s priests are way too powerful... and nosy... Did he see what happened between Lucien and me yesterday? Is that why he said those words?’
He snapped back to reality when a huge hand grabbed his.
It was Ezra again.
Rin didn’t know what was happening but before he could react, the priest lifted Rin’s hand and kissed his knuckles.
He flinched when he felt a lip on his knuckle. He could feel the heat burning up on his hand and not just his hand, from the person standing close to him.
"I shall meet you frequently from now on," Ezra said with a soft smile. "Perhaps... one day, I will bless you with Divine Magic. I hope you’ll accept."
Rin’s heart skipped. There’s no way he could accept that. He was a half-demon, and Divine Magic could probably kill him.
’Reject. Reject. Say no!’
"I... uh..."
But before Rin could speak, Lucien cut in, "He accepts."
He took Rin’s hand from Ezra’s forcefully.
Ezra smiled.
"Splendid. I’ll be looking forward to it."
And with that, he walked away.
Rin stood frozen and relieved, his knuckles burning. He took a step back, just as Lucien leaned closer.
He was still staring at them when Lucien gently took his hand and kissed the same spot.
’HUH?!’
