I Don't Want To Be An Omega In My Sister's Trashy Reverse Harem [BL] -
Chapter 29: System’s Reward! 2
Chapter 29: System’s Reward! 2
A few seconds ago... before the kiss. Before the system notification... Before Theron pinned him to the wall. Rin stared blankly at the glowing system screen.
DING!
[Reward Loading Completed!]
[Initiate Move.]
"What the hell do you mean by ’initiate move’?" Rin muttered, still hunched by the wall, feeling Theron’s lap between his legs. His heart thumped violently against his ribs.
DING!
[Auto-Initiating in 5... 4... 3...]
"Wait, wait, wait...!"
[2... 1...]
Before he could process anything, his hand shot up... like it wasn’t his and grabbed Theron’s face, kissing him.
His eyes were huge the whole time. The move he had to initiate... was the kiss. He could have done something, but he had no idea what to do, especially if the system was doing a countdown.
DING!
[’Kiss’ Registered!]
[Reward Loading Completed!]
’Hey System?! What the hell are you doing?!’ he screamed internally. His face turned red with panic and shame. When Theron seemed like he wanted more, he pushed Theron away and slapped his cheeks, trying to reboot his brain.
Theron looked stunned, his fingers brushing over his lips. His eyes were wide... then darkened like something dangerous was unravelling inside him.
"That..." Theron whispered, stepping closer again. "You kissed me.."
Rin scrambled back, waving his hands.
"No... no. That was... I mean, it wasn’t me. It was the... I mean, it was a mistake! I already told you I don’t even like men!"
Theron blinked slowly.
"Then what the hell was that?"
Rin racked his brain. "I... I panicked! It was the only way to get rid of you!"
Theron’s brows furrowed. "You kissed me... to make me leave?"
"That sounds terrible when you say it like that!" Rin groaned. "Look... I don’t do men. That’s all. Whatever you’re feeling for me? It’s probably the scent confusion... the sweet perfume on me or something... I’m literally no one."
He took a cautious step back. He must have said something bad to Theron. Maybe, he would get hit or smacked on his face. But, Theron didn’t move.
Rin’s back hit the table and Theron leaned closer, eyes locked on his.
"Then why is your heart racing?"
Rin’s eyes widened, and he looked away with his flushed face.
"That’s because you’re crowding me!"
Theron grabbed Rin’s hand and pressed it to his bare chest. Rin could feel it. The hard, steady beat.
"That’s how mine beats... when I see you. When I’m around you..."
Rin stopped breathing.
’This man is serious. I have to let him go so I can focus on the system, but...’
Theron didn’t see any reaction from Rin. His smile suddenly faded. Even the smirk, too.
"I’m not asking for anything now," he said quietly. "My rut is in five days. I’ll wait for you to make your decision. If after five days, you still don’t want anything to do with me... I’ll walk away. I swear."
Rin blinked, stunned.
’Five days? That was... kind of a relief.’
"Fine," Rin whispered. "Good. Five days."
Theron finally let go and stepped back.
"I’m serious, Rin. I won’t force you. But please... think about it."
"I won’t," Rin muttered, grabbing the edge of the door and nudging it open. "That’s the point."
Theron didn’t argue. He walked out slowly, one glance over his shoulder.
Rin slammed the door shut and locked it immediately.
"God. What the hell is wrong with this world?"
He turned back to the door and slid to the floor with a sigh. Niblet yawned from the bed, still curled like a loaf of bread.
"Don’t look at me like that," Rin groaned. "I didn’t plan to kiss anyone."
DING!
[System Alert: Reward Has Been Issued! Opening Interface...]
Rin blinked. He finally had the chance to check what this ’reward’ was all about. It was a huge task trying to get rid of Theron.
A new screen popped open like a floating window in the air. A golden border, sparkling animations, and a very obnoxiously pink title at the top.
’Of course, it’s pink. Bloody Pink!’
[Welcome to Rin’s Reward Store!]
[Currency: Kiss Points - 5 earned]
"Kiss points...?" Rin muttered.
He squinted at the explanation below.
[Each registered kiss with emotional or physical connection equals 5 Kiss Points.]
[Weekly Wheel Spins Available: 2]
"What is this, a casino for horny otomes?!" Rin snapped.
He stared at the shimmering wheel on the screen with different slots:
Bonus Kiss Points.
Discount.
Try Again.
Free Gift.
"How can this be my reward? What the hell is happening?" He slipped his fingers into his hair. Niblet was still on the bed, tilting his head and wondering what was wrong with Rin. He was talking and pointing at the air. "...Fine. Let’s just get this over with," he muttered and tapped ’Spin.’
The wheel whirled.
Round and round.
His eyes followed the blinking lights.
And...
PONPON!
>Try Again
Rin’s eye twitched.
"Of course. What should I expect from this cheat of a system?"
He hit ’Spin Again’ with a little more force.
This time, the wheel spun slower and finally...
TA-DA!
>Free Gift!
"Woah! Free gift? The system isn’t that bad,"
DING!
A flash of light erupted in the room, and in Rin’s lap appeared... a sleek silver gun. Modern. Polished. Engraved on the side was his name, Rin.
He stared at it for more than a whole minute before his trembling hands grabbed it.
"...Holy shit. It’s real!"
It was a semi-automatic handgun. Lightweight. Sharp. Definitely not from this world.
"I... I trained with this in the army... back home."
For a moment, he forgot where he was. His hand ran down the gun’s length, fingers curling around the grip. It was familiar. It was real.
DING!
[Gift: Sig Sauer P226 – Silver Edition]
[A personal weapon from your world.]
[Barrel: Empty.]
[Ammo can be purchased - 50 Kiss Points per bullet.]
Rin choked.
"FIFTY?! For ONE bullet?!" he screamed.
He opened the magazine. It was empty. Not even a single bullet to scare someone with.
He swiped to the next page of the store in frustration. There were a few other options.
And then he saw something annoying.
CONDOMS - 10 Kiss Points.
Rin’s face went blank.
"...I want to kill the floating pink dog."
Niblet let out a soft bark from the bed.
"Not you."
Still scowling, Rin clicked on the ’Inventory’ button and stored the gun. The feature allowed him to summon anything stored just by whispering the name. It was quite handy and secretive.
"I swear... if anyone saw this, I’d be executed before I could say ’hello.’"
He exhaled and walked back to the bed. Niblet adjusted for him and he leaned back, rubbing his temple.
His brain was too full. He was too tired to train tonight. He wished he had the comm crystal, he would have told Lucien not to wait up for him.
He pulled Niblet close and fed him a few drops of blood from his finger, watching the dog lick his hand carefully.
"Good night, Niblet."
He shut his eyes, trying not to think of kisses, bullets, or Theron’s stupid heartbeat. There had to be nothing between him and Theron. He’s just a side character.
But... side characters die in stories. Would Theron die? That question kept Rin’s eyes open.
If his imp of a sister was around the academy, he would have asked her but she disappeared to god knows where.
"Theron is strong... Nothing can kill him," he grumbled as he forced himself to sleep.
.
.
Later that night...
The room was still, quiet and calm. Moonlight streamed faintly through the sealed glass.
Niblet lay on his belly beside the bed, watching silently, like a watchdog.
In the far corner of the room, shadows twisted. Like something moved. It curled around the edge of the bed.
Rin shifted in his sleep, one hand dangling over the mattress, a faint cut from earlier still fresh on his finger.
The figure emerged. Pale. Unnaturally tall. Skin grey with shifting black veins in his neck, hands and other parts of his body.
He leaned down and licked the wound gently, slowly. Then he kissed the fingers, then the knuckles and finally kissed his wrists.
"You’re growing up..." he whispered, voice cold and deep. "Just like her."
He smiled faintly.
"Soon... you’ll come to us. To the underworld. Where you truly belong. Not here... not among the filth that treats you like an animal."
Niblet didn’t move. He didn’t bark like he did on the first day he appeared.
He just kept watching.
The man raised Rin’s hand again, ready to kiss it one more time...
SHINK.
A sword glinted in the moonlight. It stopped at his neck, just barely grazing his pale skin.
The intruder froze.
Then turned his head slightly to look at who it was.
Lucien Vortellion.
He stood in the room, his expression like carved ice.
"Who are you," he said in a cold, quiet voice, "and what are you doing with Rin?"
The demon smiled slowly. A grin that hadn’t been used in centuries.
"...Ahh... Finally. Someone interesting."
