I Cultivated Too Long and Got Isekai'd Into a Game
Chapter 111: Fight to Protect

Chapter 111: Fight to Protect

Jehanne wasn’t one to take insults without retaliation.

Like in a joust, she ran straight with her spear pointing forward, creating a windbreak that increased her speed even further.

The leviathan-like monster was about a hundred meters tall... but its length was more than five times that. The only blessing in disguise was that its two thick hands were too unwieldy and short to reach her at its back.

That meant the distance between Jehanne—who stood in the middle of the monster’s back—and the Dual-Soul Wraith was at least 200 meters.

"HAAAP!"

A distance she covered in a literal blink.

Her spear shot forward, aiming for the Wraith’s face—but to her surprise, the attack, which leveraged her extreme speed, missed. No, it was dodged!

"Why should I care what I call you?" the Wraith scoffed, a look of disdain on her face. "Trash will be trash, no matter what!" And in the next instant, she pulled Jehanne’s spear while launching an elbow strike to her solar plexus.

"Urk...!"

It was a heavy blow, completely unexpected from such a small frame!

For a moment, Jehanne couldn’t breathe... but that still didn’t stop her. "Hnngggh!"

Jehanne used the principle of leverage with her arms as pivot.

She placed her forearm ahead of the shaft, pulling at it, before pushing the spear’s butt forcefully out of the Wraith’s grip. Jehanne let it go half a spin over her arm, and a three-quarters spin around her neck—before slapping the Wraith’s cheek with the spear’s butt with all the momentum stored.

This time, it hit properly—but it wasn’t very effective. It just left a slight bruise, nothing more.

The Wraith, however, didn’t take the hit well. "How dare you...!"

She roared in anger, manifesting a pitch-black sword in her right hand and slashing it down at Jehanne’s head. It was so fast that Jehanne’s body froze, unable to decide.

’I need to block...!’ she thought, realizing that dodging wouldn’t make it in time.

Fortunately, the spear was still half on top of her shoulders. With just a slight tip, she managed to adjust the spear’s shaft diagonally, ready to parry the sword.

"...!"

But the strike was heavier than she’d thought. Much heavier than the earlier elbow, which she still hadn’t fully recovered from!

Jehanne was forced to one knee before finally letting the blade skitter off her spear, sparks flying. As soon as that happened, she quickly jumped backward, trying to gain distance. She was at a disadvantage fighting from too close!

’My hands are trembling and numb... What brute strength!’ she thought while keeping a watchful gaze, waiting for the Wraith to pursue.

But to her surprise, the enemy stood still, turning her back like she wasn’t even there.

"Huh...?" Jehanne gasped. "Could it be..."

Noticing something, she decided to test it out. She held the spear as far out as possible before engaging not in thrusts, but slashes!

"Wench...!" the Wraith cursed immediately, blocking the incoming spear with her sword. "I was being lenient and letting you go, and you’re pushing your luck?!"

’As expected...!’ Jehanne gasped, discovering a "weakness."

Her lips curled into a frenzied smile, returning the curse with her own. "I don’t know who you’re talking about. I don’t know anyone named Wench, after all!"

As she spoke, the spear continued waving around, slashing. With its length being three meters, her DEX being four times the usual, and STR doubled—the tip of her spear was practically a whip, barely visible as it flashed across.

"Grrr!"

The Wraith growled, unable to do anything but block.

Right... for whatever reason, she couldn’t move away from her spot! Jehanne wasn’t sure if this was by design, or just her holding back—but either way, it was a fatal weakness that could be exploited!

Through sheer speed, her spear blade sometimes slipped past defenses, opening small cuts and bruises over the Dual-Soul Wraith’s body. It was minor, but the frequency was still a threat nonetheless.

"I’ll grind you slowly to dust...!"

Without fear of getting hit, she could literally go all out on the offensive.

Jehanne’s rampage was just beginning!

🔷🔷🔷

On the other side, Xu Tao was troubled.

"Shit! There’s just too many of them...!"

The monsters were just level 400, but there were tons of them around. And to make matters worse, they didn’t move in unison but rather in a random manner. Some tried to intercept him, while others took advantage of his delay to head further down—to the civilians still evacuating.

At such moments, he had no choice but to handle those trying to skip the line—but doing so only created more openings instead.

’If this continues, I’ll definitely let one or two slip through soon!’

Of course, it wasn’t like he had no plan. However, that one required meticulous preparation. Meaning, he’d need time before he could complete it. And time was the one thing he sorely lacked right now.

If push came to shove, he could unleash the most destructive technique he could muster at the moment and wipe out a majority of them... but that would leave him sapped, out of Qi, and with a backlash to bother him.

"Oh...!" Just as he dodged another bug rushing at him, freezing it with a tap of his fan, an idea suddenly came to mind. "I got the System with me...!"

In a moment, he pulled the main menu and visited a nostalgic tab.

As he did, he was dodging monster attacks, keeping those who wanted to rush in first in check, and setting his "trap" in place... all at practically the same time! Multitasking level 999!

With a fraction of his attention on the tab—the familiar "Gacha" tab—he selected whatever banner was up on the first line and clicked the 10x Roll!

"Skip! Skip! Skip!"

The roll animation was just a waste of time, so he tapped the skip button each time, not even bothering to see whose banner it was.

Items appeared around him, before vanishing into his SSR Storage Ring.

His attention wasn’t on the number of pulls he made, but rather, on two things: the rarity of the drawn loot, and whether it was the banner’s UR Character.

"Shit! Was fighting while rolling bad for my luck?! I should’ve saved over 10 days worth of luck by now!" Xu Tao cursed, seeing that his 100th roll still didn’t yield anything better than SR.

By then, the distance of the monsters to the ground had halved. Any more delay could mean big trouble!

"Come on...! Just a few more...!"

He muttered, the words carrying two meanings. "Just a few more" for both his trap, and his patience for the Gacha.

Right when he reached the 220th roll, finally...

"This is it!"

A mix of all colored lights appeared—the effects of a UR Roll arrived!
