Chapter 551 - 551 Relic 302 Fifth Layer (4000)_1
Chapter 551: Relic 302 Fifth Layer (4000)_1 Chapter 551: Relic 302 Fifth Layer (4000)_1 In short, it was a small misunderstanding.
Sheng Feinan and Feng Liusi’s encounter with Casio was different. After the three of them got lost around a corner, Sheng Feinan had been alone all the time.
He never ran into the Scales Monster in disguise.
So all along, he thought that the relic’s mechanisms had inadvertently separated the three of them, leaving each of them isolated.
He remained on guard throughout the journey and encountered no dangers. The only issue was getting a bit lost due to changing passageways. After wandering around for half the day and finally finding his bearings, he met up with the others.
Unexpectedly, Casio suddenly attacked, unleashing almost a full-strength punch.
His specialties were swordsmanship and whip handling, and his strength and speed could not compare to Casio’s, not to mention his rushed attempt at blocking. As a result, he was unable to block the first punch, leading to a deeper level of misunderstanding.
Luckily, Sheng Feinan’s injuries weren’t severe. It was just that the first punch that he failed to block hit his chest, causing some internal injuries.
Casio only needed to channel a bit of life vibration energy, and the minor injury was healed completely. While healing, the three of them exchanged what they had each experienced over the past half-hour. Casio’s experiences were undoubtedly the most bountiful. At least four or five groups of Scales Monsters had tried to deceive him by disguising themselves as illusions, even adjusting their approach based on the circumstances.
They were not stagnant but seemed to possess intelligence.
The exotic beasts the group had previously encountered were driven purely by instinct, but now things seemed to be changing.
The trio became even more attentive.
There was only a small distance left to the entrance of the fourth layer, and within this period, no illusions or dangers approached them.
Casio and the others quickly found their target, an underground cavern resemblant of a botanical garden. The top was full of grotesque rocks and moist moss in the crevices. The lower part was covered by a large swath of luxuriantly growing creeper-like plants.
Large heart-shaped leaves clustered together, densely covering the ground. Yellow-green weeds grew in the gaps.
The place was considerably damp and carried the heat reminiscent of summer. The air was filled with a strange mix of the odors of rotting roots and fragrant leaves. It wasn’t foul-smelling, but it definitely couldn’t be said to smell nice. Casio took a deep breath and opened his eyes.
“There’s a certain amount of poison in the air, but very weak. It can only affect ordinary people. The spikes on the leaves of these creepers might also carry poison, be a bit careful…”
He warned. The lungs transformed by phantom image not only filtered out poisonous impurities but could also act as an air quality detector.
“It’s better to play safe. Let’s hold our breath,” Feng Liusi said. He glanced at Sheng Feinan and both of them quickly entered a turtle-breathing state, their chest movements slowing down. By the time they reached the inhuman realm of fighters, their breath holding ability could easily last for tens of minutes whilst maintaining normal physical actions.
However, that time would be significantly shortened if it involved intense combat.
“Let’s go.”
Sheng Feinan signaled to Casio and nodded.
“Wait a moment.”
Casio raised his hand and abruptly clawed at the cave wall next to him, digging down like a bucket, removing a large piece of rock.
He weighed it two or three times before flinging it.
The stone accelerated in the air and hit the ground of the cavern covered by plant roots, creating a low, muffled sound.
Several more stones quickly flew over, smashing the dense green leaves and exposing the black-yellow soil underneath.
“There should be no traps, and the ground beneath is not hollow.” Casio slightly nodded his head, and then spoke to the two behind him, “Let’s go…”.
The group entered this botanical garden of roughly a few football fields in size, creating a small path in the sea of green leaves.
Going forward, approximately reaching the middle position.
All of a sudden, the roots on the ground started to squirm as if they were snakes. They moved quickly, emitting deep green flashes in the air. These creepers, with the position of Casio and the others as the center, rotated to form a spiral cone. On the inside, poisonous spikes grew out.
They were finger-length, and the tips were suffused with a purplish-red color.
The cone contracted as if it was about to crush inward quickly.
Zing!
A spiral longsword with black flames burning on its surface slashed out, and the sword light quickly spread to a distance of several meters.
It cut off the dense creepers and roots, causing juice to splatter.
Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing!
From the surface of the room-size cone, four rays of sword light blasted out from within, instantly shredding the brittle cage.
Swish, swish, swish…
Three figures effortlessly leapt out from the light of the fire.
One of them was holding a sword that was wide and impressively 1.8 meters long. Its blade was traced with a flickering silhouette of black flames, subtly vibrating, and spinning at high speed like a chainsaw.
Every swing of the massive cross-sword produced a concentrated ray of sword light that sliced through the air, severing the surrounding plants.
The usually sturdy creeping roots were like tofu against the edge of the sword. They shattered upon impact. They couldn’t slow or cage the three of them at all. The trio easily left the cavern.
Leaving a mess behind.
At the end of the cavern was a pitch-black cave. Without hesitation, Casio and the others entered it, sprinting in the darkness.
The sound of their footsteps faded while the sound of flowing water got closer.
“Whoosh, whoosh…”, the clear sound of water reached Casio’s ears, and the air held a humid smell. There must be an underground river ahead.
The trio quickened their pace, and abruptly stopped after several turns.
