Chapter 199: 145 Mysterious Call (4000) (Wishing you all a Happy June 2nd Children’s Day)_2 Chapter 199: 145 Mysterious Call (4000) (Wishing you all a Happy June 2nd Children’s Day)_2 The man in the trench coat shared some general information, not worrying about revealing anything, as the woman was a police officer from Jinghu city. They, the mercury hunters, had just established a partnership with the Jinghu City Police Department. They would definitely need police assistance when they take action against the Blood Clan after their investigation.
All the informed persons would sign a non-disclosure agreement.
“Boom!”
As the two were conversing, an explosion sounded from the rubble of a nearby wooden house. Cathy and the man in the trench coat rushed over immediately.
Only to see Casio, full of blood, his face as gloomy as iron.
And on the ground was a corpse of the Blood Clan. The injury on the skull had healed, but a hole was opened at the position of the heart.
There were traces of explosion at the football-sized wound.
When Casio struck this Blood Clan, he intended to kill it directly, but considering the subsequent interrogations, he held back. Just now, he was waiting for this Blood Clan to recover, intending to ask some useful intelligence, but the creature chose to self-detonate on the spot.
Heart burst, bloody stench splattered all over Casio.
He was a little upset right now.
Boom.
The sandbag-sized fist slammed the dead Blood Clan’s head into the mud. The surrounding ground shook, and broken wooden planks slipped off.
Boom, boom, two more punches.
In the pit on the ground was a jam-like lump of mangled flesh.
Casio slowly stood up, his muscles twitching and flexing.
Blood droplets on his skin surface were instantly tossed away, leaving only two drops of blood on his face, the whole upper body was clean again.
He said to the two people who came over, “I plan to stay here for a while. If you have nothing to do, you can go. Take the other two common people with you too…”
The intention in his words was clear, Casio was starting to drive people away.
He wanted to use this small wooden house as a battlefield, waiting for the Blood Clan that would come here. He wondered whether all the direct descendants of Alfama were as defiant as this one.
“Okay.” The man in the trench coat did not hesitate.
Casio was brave and capable, he had the strength to do so. The trench coat man knew his own abilities, though he was quite powerful among the mercury hunters, his ability was limited to restraining one elite Blood Clan to a draw at most, and that too after weakening it with Thorny Mercury. This was a stronghold of the Blood Clan, the frequency and number of Blood Clan coming and going would definitely not be low. He didn’t want to die in the mountains at such a young age.
Casio had no obligation to protect him.
“Ms. Cathy, take the other two people and go with me,” the man in the trench coat turned to speak to the policewoman nearby.
Half a minute later, several people walked out of the wooden house. Just about to leave quickly, the man in the trench coat frowned, looking around.
A pale white fog rose everywhere in the woods. Like a living thing, with a strange flow, it spread rapidly along the ground. Under the moonlight, like a soft white veil hanging from the trees slowly swaying, presenting a strange blurry color.
“It’s foggy?” Cathy said in a daze.
The man in the trenchcoat extended his hand and casually grabbed a handful. The fog was like a flowing slurry, as if it could lift people up.
“This fog is too thick…”
He murmured to himself and turned to look at the wooden house. Compared to the harmless fog that might at most get people lost, the danger here was slightly higher. He has previously marked the trees at regular intervals. With cautious and slower travel, it was not difficult to get out.
“Let’s go!”
The man in the trench coat took Cathy and the other two and left promptly.
As they were swallowed by the fog, Casio walked out of the house. His expression was surprised when he took a look around; the intense fog of the night seemed sudden.
Within his field of view, white fog particles rolled around between the trees, making a rustling sound. Grasslands and tree trunks appear blurry in the fog, as if seen through a layer of gauze.
Whoosh whoosh… it seemed like something was floating slowly in the fog. Casio hurriedly glanced towards the corner of his eye, but everything was normal there as if it was just a shadow of a tree. “Pulling all sorts of spooky crap…”
He stepped toward that direction without hesitation.
His fists clenched, muscles tightened. His body’s strength distributed throughout his limbs, ready to engage in an attack storm-like attacks of Casio should there be any rustling in the vicinity. He seemed rather cautious.
His keen senses did not bring any danger warnings.
About a hundred meters out, Casio placed one hand on a tree trunk, furrowing his brows as he looked around. For some reason, he felt a faint unease. Perhaps there was something odd about the fog, or perhaps something within the fog was watching him…
The surroundings were eerily silent, save for the dense fog that swirled in the air. Casio seemed to hear something then, holding his breath in concentration.
The soft whooshing of the wind brushing past tree tops, the faint chirping of birds from possibly miles away, his own heartbeat and breathing…and additionally…a barely audible voice calling his name.
“Cas…Cas…io…sss…come…sss…here…”
“sss…here…this way…sss…”
The voice appeared in bits and spurts, akin to how an old cassette tape would sound. Mixed into the voice was a chaotic assortment of static, along with a murmuring in the background, as if many people were whispering at once.
At first, Casio simply found it eerie, but he soon comprehended something that startled him. This voice somehow knew him – Casio – by name. Could this be Duomeng? Or was it one of the young Blood Clan members from the log cabin, calling out for help?
He spun around immediately, only to have a dark silhouette flit past him. A chill ran down Casio’s spine. He launched himself into a fit of rage and charged forward, his Iron Fist power coursing through him.
Thud!
A large tree big enough to be encircled by an adult’s arms was smashed through, leaving a gaping hole.
Casio drew back his fist, glancing around him.
The dense fog resembled a blurry, mobile, monolithic barrier. It seemed like a towering wall ascending from the ground blocking him from the rest of the world.
The surroundings were deathly silent. It felt like he’d been isolated in another world – hollow, empty, lonely and vague.
Swish!
Another shadow darted past him.
Casio lashed out again, accelerating into his third blood speed state at an incredible pace. As his Iron Fist whirled through the air, it caused a vortex in the fog.
However, there was still no sign of the shadow’s host.
“Enough with these tricks, show yourself!”
Casio’s right hand gripped a tree, his fingers digging deep into the bark. It looked as though he would uproot it entirely in the next second.
Once again, a deafening silence fell around him.
All that could be heard was Casio’s heavy, ragged breathing. This unfamiliar feeling of not being in control of the situation was infuriating.
Just as Casio was about to lose his temper, he remembered the principles of the Wind Elephant Fist and drew in a calming breath, telling himself to keep calm. Gradually, he managed to regain his composure.
“Fol…sss…me…sss…here…”
That haunting voice echoed in Casio’s ear once again.
He suddenly saw a vague silhouette in the fog to his left front, seemingly guiding the way. Casio’s eyes flickered as he unleashed all his power and pounced.
After running at a fast speed for several hundred meters, the shadow still remained roughly in the same position to his left front, blurry as though ready to dissipate at any moment.
“Such incredible speed…or is this just an illusion?”
Casio flexed his fist and assessed himself. His own strength, shaped by achieving mastery in the Secret Martial Art of a fist fighter, suggested that he hadn’t been poisoned.
“Whatever.”
His instincts told him that there was no malice in this entity. Casio decided to see where this shadow sought to guide him.
Half an hour later, in the middle of a steep mountain forest.
A member of the Blood Clan was feeling around a tree, struggling to find his way amid the thick fog that had suddenly engulfed the mountain trail.
“Tick tock tick tock…”
A series of hurried footsteps suddenly sounded from the left.
The Blood Clan member quickly turned to look, but a dark figure instantly closed the distance before him like a gust of wind. “Get lost!” Torn apart by an invisible force, the Blood Clan member was ripped in half, his blood ballooning into the air in a misty haze.
The huge figure charged past.
The resulting wind gust formed a half-red, half-white vortex in mid-air, resembling a hovering bloody eye.
