I Can Program My Body? -
Chapter 122: Team Assessment
Chapter 122: Team Assessment
"Can I still come to eat with you from time to time, boss?"
"Of course. As long as you’re free, you’re welcome to join me. Why, where are you going?"
"I’m going to focus on training. I can’t fall behind you, boss." William sighed.
Seeing Nash’s strength grow stronger and stronger while he progressed at a crawling pace, William couldn’t help but feel a surge of urgency.
Having completed the family’s initiation, he was supposed to start concentrating on increasing his saturation rate to make up for lost training time.
Instead, he wasted time playing, joining Nash and the others to earn merits he didn’t need.
With the backing of the Stanley family, he could have hundreds of millions of merits in his account just by asking.
The dark beasts at this level couldn’t hone his fighting ability either.
As a result, after hours of hunting, fighting a few dark beasts, earning meager merits, and occasionally eating good food, his training lagged behind.
Although spending time with Nash and indulging in good food was enjoyable, William knew deep down, it wasn’t his path.
He was the heir of the Stanley family, destined to become the future War God of the Nova Sector.
At first, he didn’t take it too seriously. As long as he was having fun, he thought it was fine to grow slowly alongside his friends.
But watching Nash’s rapid growth, far beyond anything he had expected, his mindset began to shift.
His carefree attitude began to crumble, replaced by a growing urgency. If he kept treating this like a game, he would be left behind, with no chance of catching up.
With a friend like Nash, a monster rising faster than he could fathom, William realized he had to focus on training to stay alongside him.
Hearing William’s plight, Nash nodded in encouragement.
"It’s true, joining us here is a waste of time. It’s better to focus on training and get stronger as soon as possible."
If he had William’s wealth and backing, why would Nash tire himself out in the dark plane?
He would’ve stayed home until his family could no longer support him.
After a bit more talking, the two formally said their goodbyes.
"If you have any questions or problems, just come to me," Nash said.
"You too, boss. Call me if you run into anything..."
---
The next day, Nash arrived at their residence in the Dark Willow Shelter on time.
Not seeing the familiar William, he felt unaccustomed for a moment.
"Boss, you’re here! A few people are already waiting for you to assess them."
Knowing Nash wanted more team members, they had called their friends and acquaintances to try out.
Joining the team was not only profitable but also relatively safe.
"I called one of my friends to join," Elisha said.
"Me too," Colson added, having invited a fellow four-star void warrior.
"Then let’s go to the back and see how many people are there."
At the back of the residence, Nash saw dozens of people standing around restlessly.
"The boss is here!"
Hearing of his arrival, they quickly stood at attention, eyeing him curiously.
"Not bad. The assessment would be easy, for three-star void warriors, the assessment is to identify a hundred herbs from what I will show you. For four-star void warriors, you’ll fight me directly to assess your combat skills."
Identifying herbs was the basic requirement for herb pickers.
Knowing the herbs’ details would make them faster and more efficient in their work.
For four-star void warriors, the only requirement was fighting ability to better protect the team.
"Let’s start. We don’t have much time to waste."
Handing papers and writing tools to all three-star void warriors, Nash pulled a thousand herbs from his storage ring.
"You have ten minutes to write down all the herbs you identify. The passing score is a hundred, but the more herbs you name, and the more detailed your answers, the larger your share of the profits will be."
Giving them a moment to process his words, Nash started the clock.
As time ticked down, they quickly gathered around the herbs he’d laid out, writing frantically on their papers.
"Watch them for me. Don’t let them cheat," Nash said to his teammates as he headed toward the two four-star void warriors on the scene.
"Who’s going first?" Nash asked, inviting them to spar.
"I’ll go first. I’m Kelsey, Elisha’s friend. I’m a four-star void warrior proficient in defense."
"Oh? Then let’s see if you can withstand a few of my attacks."
"Come on!"
Seeing Kelsey was ready, Nash took his stance and attacked.
Seeing him dash toward her, Kelsey’s face turned solemn.
Propping up her shield, Nash quickly vanished from her sight.
Experienced in battle, she quickly senses him coming from the left, letting her tilt her shield to catch an attack.
However, like a ghost, Nash reappeared in front, punching her wide-open body.
Left with no other option, she could only waste void energy to reinforce her entire body.
Bang!
"Nice reaction!"
Impressed by her quick response, Nash increased his power and the intensity of his attacks.
Under a storm of blows, Kelsey’s void energy began to be depleted rapidly.
Like a toy being tossed around, no matter what she did, Nash seemed to find her weak spots.
Finally, just a minute into the spar, Kelsey jumped back, surrendering.
"I give up! You’re stronger than Elisha said. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were a five-star void warrior pretending to be a weakling," Kelsey sighed, her body aching.
Though Nash’s raw power wasn’t quite at the level of a five-star void warrior, his speed, flexibility, reflexes, and precision were comparable or even better.
"I just haven’t had time to take the five-star void warrior qualification test. If it makes you feel better, think of me as one," Nash said.
He figured his battle badge rank was enough and was too lazy to bother with another test.
"That’s better. So, did I pass?"
Taking his suggestion, Kelsey no longer felt so defeated.
"Hmm, you’re not bad. You should be able to fight one or two five-star dark beasts on your own."
During the fight, Nash wasn’t just beating Kelsey but testing her attributes, reflexes, situational awareness, and her will to face a stronger opponent.
"I passed? Great! Haha, sister Elisha, we can be together again!"
"That’s right! You’ll never go wrong sticking with the boss!" Elisha smiled, cheering like a little girl.
Shaking his head, Nash turned to the other four-star void warrior.
"I’m Matteo, a berserk-type warrior," Matteo introduced, oozing with great fighting intent.
"Then let’s start."
