I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1063 - 625: The Choice Under Temptation

"Councilman?"

Lis looked at Oriolan, and asked in a deep voice.

Regardless, the condition proposed by the Pan-Continent Mage Association truly surprised him.

Within the Pan-Continent Mage Association, the highest authority is held by the Legendary Council.

Except in extremely special situations, the members of the Legendary Council are all Legendary Mages within the association.

And becoming the council's chairman, no matter how you see it, this power is quite a temptation for Lis.

It also shows the Pan-Continent Mage Association's sincerity in inviting Lis.

For a moment, Lis couldn't help but feel somewhat excited.

Chairman of the Pan-Continent Mage Association, just the title alone is exhilarating.

In a sense, the identity of the council chairman is already equivalent to the Pope of the Church of the Gods.

However, looking at Oriolan's determined expression in front of him, Lis's mood suddenly calmed down.

Would the Pan-Continent Mage Association really be so generous?

Although Lis doesn't know much about the Pan-Continent Mage Association, he is quite clear that the association would never make impulsive decisions.

Especially when it's such an important matter related to the Fourth Councilman of the association.

While the position of Fourth Councilman is quite enticing to Lis, he quickly regained his calm.

Being the Fourth Councilman is good, but ultimately, it's just a title and status.

It's not that becoming the Fourth Councilman of the Pan-Continent Mage Association would make Lis's strength equal to powerful entities like Osiris Chronos, the Master of Time Traces; Stephens Fran, the Judgement Flame; or Akanshas Talindra, the Star Realm Weaver.

If that were possible, Lis might indeed pay the price.

But clearly, even those Divine beings couldn't achieve such a thing.

Thus, it becomes clear that the reason the Pan-Continent Mage Association is willing to make Lis a councilman is because they believe the benefits to the association outweigh the costs.

Though there's indeed a chance for win-win cooperation, Lis had to consider whether making such a choice would ultimately be beneficial to him.

"I'm sorry, I didn't expect the association would make such a decision."

"It does surprise me."

Lis shifted his gaze from the ring in front of him, slightly breathed a sigh of relief, and looked at Oriolan as he spoke.

Oriolan's brows furrowed slightly. He noticed that Lis's emotions have stabilized, unlike the sharp edges earlier when he heard about the possibility of becoming the council chairman.

Instead, he seemed to have made some sort of decision, easing his entire demeanor, looking at Oriolan with a hint of a smile in his eyes.

For a moment, Oriolan couldn't quite grasp Lis's true thoughts.

"Of course, the association sincerely invites you, Lis, to join, hoping you will consider it seriously."

Even as the leader of the Star Ring School, Oriolan holds a fairly high position within the Pan-Continent Mage Association.

Even so, he would sacrifice anything if he could become the chairman.

Lis would pay a certain price, but compared to the gains, it would be quite worth it.

Originally, considering such terms, Oriolan felt Lis should readily agree, but now, he wasn't too sure of his judgment of Lis.

"I want to ask, what specific method does the Pan-Continent Mage Association plan to use to involve Kane Floating City within the association?"

After pondering for a moment, Lis asked Oriolan.

"Lis, you should know the association already has two Floating Cities, and under the association's protection for countless years, these two Floating Cities have become increasingly powerful, proving the association's mature management of Floating Cities."

"Regarding the Kane Floating City you control, after you join the association, you will still be the Controller of Kane Floating City."

"But the association will need equal permissions as your Floating City, and manage Kane Floating City according to the management system of the previous two Floating Cities, stationing the association's Mages and guards within Kane Floating City."

"I hope you understand, Lis, although you have achieved legendary status, it's still too difficult for you to maintain a Floating City with your own strength."

"Only the Pan-Continent Mage Association can truly exert the great power of a Floating City, fully utilize its value."

Lis nodded at this, but didn't say much else.

As he expected, if the Pan-Continent Mage Association paid such a price, naturally, they had their needs.

Compared to Lis, they naturally valued the Floating City more, which is quite normal.

The condition proposed by the Pan-Continent Mage Association is equivalent to Lis splitting half of Kane Floating City's ownership, co-managing it with the association.

After such conditions were met, Lis could become a council chairman of the Pan-Continent Mage Association, simultaneously gaining support from various aspects of the Mage Association.

The offer sounds wonderful, but once Lis calmed down, it didn't seem as advantageous as it appeared.

Firstly, the so-called identity of the Fourth Councilman of the Pan-Continent Mage Association doesn't hold the imagined value for Lis.

To be sure, becoming the Fourth Councilman would elevate Lis's status within the Pan-Continent Mage Association, just trailing those three pinnacle Legends, but what real benefits would it bring to Lis?

Gaining respect from other Mages, even Legends?

This holds no attraction for Lis.

Being able to mobilize the authority of the Pan-Continent Mage Association?
