Chapter 111: The Alstria Heroes Association Branch
Chapter 111: The Alstria Heroes Association Branch
"What do you mean that we can not do the interrogation? He might be a mutant criminal but he is still an indigene of Davenport. He is still under our jurisdiction when it comes to interviews and court filings. Yes. We might have cooperated with you but that does not mean we hand over our authority. Then, Gauze, it would be wise to forward the call to someone who has the authority to decide. Yes, Mr Blunt, Arlen Sinclair, Captain of the Davenport Bureau. No, it is not Sinclair." Arlen, who should be in bed resting, was next to the window calling the Alstria Heroes Association Branch.
There was a knock on the door and a tall woman entered inside.
"Good morning!" Kora said as she entered the door, ’I heard the news this morning. Congratulations on closing the case."
"Kora! I mean Doctor Klenn." Lisa said, turning with a smile. The woman was carrying several bags and she rushed over to help her carry them. Taking a deep breath, her gaze towards the forensic doctor became even warmer.
"You can call me Kora." Kora looked at all the offices, "All of you can."
Sarah smiled and came over, "Doctor Klenn, you did not have to come all the way here." She came over to help but Kora handed her a different colored bag, "For you."
"Oh! Why is hers different?" Lisa said, pouting and looking at Kora.
Draco rolled his eyes, "Be grateful that you were given any." He said. taking out the meat bun with an excited expression, he bit into it and raised his thumb to take Kora for breakfast. There was also a bottle of juice in everyone’s bag.
Sarah looked at hers that had two packages and her brows narrowed, She looked at Kora and the other just smiled.
"Your daughter is doing her homework in the reception, isn’t she? Very cute, she looks just like you." Kora said, her voice low.
Sarah’s ability was enhanced auditory sense so she caught every word. Kora had been speaking quietly for her own benefit. During these few days, her preliminary opinion of the new forensic doctor was that she was cold, not Ravi’s coldness that clearly said that he had no time or strength for anyone but a kind of coldness where she was lost in her own world and every other person is a stranger.
It turns out she was also thoughtful and kind.
"Thank you!" She said before leaving, closing the door quietly behind her.
"Where is mine?" Arlen said as he looked around. He was done with his call and slipped the phone into his pocket, only to turn and see his team enjoying dinner.
Kora’s expression had returned to usual, "I did not know you liked this kind of food."
Arlen’s eyes narrowed, "Who hates steamed buns?"
"Mani Tsele."
"Who is that?"
Kora was quiet for a few seconds, "The serial killer that was caught in Pelumi early this week."
Arlen opened his mouth and shut it, opened and shut it again.
"Captain. You can have mine." Draco said.
Arlen looked at the teeth marks on the bun and looked away, completely acting like he could not see it.
"Where is the Sergeant?" He asked.
Lisa drank her mango juice, "He sneaked out after receiving his breakfast."
"Captain, I came to ask if I can go over some cold cases. Just for research purposes."
Arlen waved her off, "Go. Go. I don’t want to see you anymore. As for the two of you, finish your breakfast, we are going to Alstria."
On his way to check himself out, he met both Tom and Sarah, bending down to tease the little girl, he told Sarah that she could go home now.
The three of them came out of the hospital, "Captain, are we not going to visit that woman?"
"What woman?"
"Maia Black." Draco replied.
"There would be time for that later."
Ten minutes later, they were on the road, Draco was driving, Lisa was in the passenger seat, and as for Arlen, he bit into the roll, the meat was tender and the sauce was so creamy.
He sighed. So good.
"Is that delicious, Captain." Lisa said looking at the rearview mirror, she swallowed.
"Very. Draco drives a little faster. If we take too much time, they might just move him." Draco stepped on the gas but it was still two hours before they reached the Heroes Association in Alstria.
Looking up at the towering skyscraper, Lisa felt like a miniature ant.
"Does it have to be that big?"
"Yes. It must have 52 floors, each one for the hero that perished in the Nest Explosion of 1765."
"Captain Sinclair." A voice said as they entered the ground floor. High arched windows and a graceful banister that curved up towards the second floor.
"Gauze." Arlen greeted.
The other was more respectful than he had been last night and the team noticed it. Draco and Lisa looked at each other.
"Come this way. He is a contained cell." Gauze said and led the way past the ground floor. They entered the elevator and Gauze pressed a button and the elevator started going down.
"The cells are in the basement." Gauze explained as he touched his finger to the lock.
When Arlen, Lisa, and Draco entered the contained cell, Lucas Harrow was sitting with his head lowered. The cell was very simple with a table and a chair that had been hastily added and a small bed with a white sink by the side.
He looked up when he saw them, the man looked older than his thirty-seven years with green eyes that looked more empty than cold, "You are the officer that jumped in the building. So, what happened?"
"I saved her. She is in the hospital recovering." Arlen had a little bit of understanding when it came to interrogation psychology. This kind of criminal who had no connection to anything and had lived his entire life in pursuit of revenge was very difficult to deal with.
