I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 774 - 770: Formation of the Dead Knight Corps _1
Chapter 774: Chapter 770: Formation of the Dead Knight Corps _1
"That’s settled then. The Knight Order will be in your hands from now on." Tang Ye laughed heartily, but there was a murderous intent hidden within his laughter. "Once I’ve formed the Dead Knight Corps, I’ll level the United District! Anyone who dares to touch my things will have to pay back tenfold!"
Chen Zhouquan and Chen Zhou’an exchanged glances. They weren’t aware of any feud between Tang Ye and the United District, but they didn’t care. In the apocalypse, there weren’t many grand principles left. As long as Tang Ye gave them what they wanted, they’d pledge allegiance to him, whether he was human or ghost.
"But boss, we’re definitely going to need more zombie beasts to form the Knight Order. What do we do about that?"
"You two need not worry about that. You should get familiar with these two zombie beasts for now. From this day forward, they will be your mounts. In Liang City, I have over five thousand Level 3 zombie beasts."
"Holy shit, boss, you’re awesome!"
Upon hearing that there were over five thousand Level 3 zombie beasts, the Chen brothers were initially shocked but quickly expressed their admiration.
If there really were over five thousand Level 3 zombie beasts, forming the Dead Knight Corps didn’t seem too difficult.
"Alright, that’s settled. You two can choose one each now," said Tang Ye. After some consideration, Chen Zhouquan chose the Level 4 zombie hawk for the thrill of flight, while Chen Zhou’an went with the zombie wolf.
Tang Ye told both of them how to control their respective beasts, and the Chen brothers couldn’t wait to mount their new rides and initiate their first control sessions.
At first, both the zombie wolf and the zombie hawk fiercely resisted being ridden, running wild and trying their best to turn their heads and devour their riders. However, under Tang Ye’s intervention, both zombie beasts got used to the Chen brothers riding on them.
Initially, the brothers weren’t very skilled at controlling the zombie beasts. But gradually, with more runs and flights, they got the hang of it, which put Tang Ye at ease.
With this progress, he felt confident that the Dead Knight Corps could be formed. If that was the case, he didn’t need to worry about advanced weaponry any longer.
With the Dead Knight Corps in his control, even if they weren’t tremendously strong, they could at least hold their own against Exoskeleton Armor Soldiers!
After taking care of these matters, Tang Ye sought out Xu Haishui, instructing him to halt production in all remaining factories, both public and private, immediately.
In the afternoon, when Ah Fu returned, Tang Ye gathered every skilled craftsman left in the base and brought them face to face with the two zombie beasts.
The sight of two enormous zombie beasts at the start startled the craftsmen, but they quickly composed themselves. However, when Tang Ye voiced his intentions, they were utterly astonished.
Form the Dead Knight Corps?
Without giving the artisans time to ask further questions, Tang Ye ordered the two beasts brought forth, impressing upon them not to eat people unless fed to do so.
Seeing Tang Ye pulling the zombie beasts over, the craftsmen backed away, terror-stricken. They were mostly ordinary people, deeply afraid of zombies, especially such large ones. They didn’t dare approach.
"Don’t worry, everyone. These two zombie beasts have been trained. They won’t eat people randomly. Go and observe them bravely. I’ll give you one week to finalize the design for their saddles."
When the craftsmen heard this, some hesitated before stepping closer to the zombie wolf. They were surprised to find that it didn’t attack, lay on the ground, its eyes wide open, as if devoid of life.
Having a lead, the rest of the craftsmen followed suit. There was soon a buzz of conversation among them.
Then, Tang Ye announced, "Whoever designs the most practical saddle will not need to do anything else from now on and will receive thirty Yajin every month!"
Upon hearing this, many craftsmen looked eager, the chatter becoming even more fervent. Some highly talented individuals had even begun sketching designs.
Every day after, different types of saddles were brought in for trial fittings on the zombie beasts. However, without exception, all were rejected by Tang Ye.
Things moved faster than Tang Ye had anticipated. Just three days in, he saw a saddle fitting his requirements. It was designed by an ordinary man named Ding Hong. He took into consideration that the size of the zombie beasts might increase as they evolved to higher levels, so he designed the saddle with adjustable size fittings.
Tang Ye was delighted with this design. A huge reward was immediately granted. Though the evolution crystals at the Peace Party had been looted by the bandits in the United District, he still managed to give out sixty Yajin as a reward.
Once he approved the saddle design, Tang Ye instructed the factories to start mass-producing saddles and manufacture armor for the zombie mounts, all made from abundant supplies of H-steel.
Every Death Knight was equipped with a Canghe-P90 rifle - Shiwuguan Base’s standard issue. Originally, Tang Ye wanted to arm every soldier with a Guan Dao, similar to the one Advisor Guan wielded. But he quickly dismissed the idea upon seeing the large mouths of the zombie mounts, their sharp fangs exposed. Instead of chopping at the enemy like in ancient times, it would be more beneficial to direct the zombie beasts to bite the enemy and earn them some extra food.
The next day, Tang Ye gathered all his soldiers, allowing the Chen Brothers to select personnel for the Knight Order. Everyone’s eyes lit up when they heard they’d be riding zombie beasts as part of the Dead Knight Corps.
They’d heard of riding horses, oxen, mules, and donkeys, but never zombies.
That same day, Tang Ye assembled all the zombie hawks and wolves in the vicinity of the mother nest and began the daunting task of herding them toward Shiwuguan Base.
As the horde of zombie beasts appeared at Shiwuguan Base, numerous survivors came out to watch. Having heard the Peace Party was forming the Dead Knight Corps with zombie mounts, they were deeply curious.
To them, the act of riding zombies was certainly the most intriguing.
This month was the busiest for Qinshan Base, with factories frantically recruiting workers to manufacture saddles and armor for the zombie mounts as quickly as possible. The Peace Party’s treasury was significantly depleted, with over half the Yajin moved to Shiwuguan Base, causing much dismay among the party’s upper echelons and fueling their hatred for the United District.
Then, two days ago, the corpse of Yang Jiaoyong, the base commander of Xingnan Base, was discovered in a sewage ditch. High-ranking members sought to vie for the position of base commander, only to be brutally killed by the people from the City of Bright Moon. Thus, Xingnan Base changed hands to become the possession of Su Sigui.
