Chapter 744: Chapter 740 The Black Spot on the Horizon_1

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in."

Wu Zhanping walked in, saw Tang Ye and respectfully said, "Boss, those soldiers have entered our jurisdiction. Should we ..."

"Get them out of here!"

"Okay!"

Wu Zhanping nodded, took a few Peace Party soldiers, and went out. At this point, soldiers of the Qinshan Base saw that people were not obeying orders and started attacking one by one. A laser burst out, and people at the front fell like cut wheat. Crimson blood pooled on the ground, staining the earth red.

"What are you doing? Get out of here, or don’t blame us for being rude!"

When the soldiers of the Qinshan Base began their massacre, Peace Party soldiers came running out one group after another. Seeing them, the soldiers of the Qinshan Base backed down. The leading sergeant glanced over, then motioned with his hand for his men to leave.

"Let’s go!"

Watching the soldiers leave in droves, Wu Zhanping spat on the ground, a vicious look on his scarred face that reminded one of a centipede moving forward. His hostile aura frightened the survivors passing by, each of them giving him a wide berth.

"What exactly is going on?"

Observing the scene below, Tang Ye asked the newly arrived Xu Haishui, who also looked down the street and after scratching his nose said, "Not quite sure, but apparently the soldiers who were sent out yesterday to monitor the zombie tide found a Level 6 zombie hiding amongst them, and came back to report it."

"Usually, the United District would cover up this kind of situation to prevent panic, but for some reason, the news got out. Some soldiers caught word of it, and the rumor started to spread. They tried to flee Qinshan Base overnight, but along the way, they were shouting about the Level 6 zombie, causing a panic."

Tang Ye nodded. The morning glow on the horizon grew brighter, and the red sun slowly rose, emitting a blazing light.

As word about the Level 6 zombie spread, almost everyone in the base came to know about it. Panic was widespread, and many people tried to escape Qinshan Base while the zombie tide was still at bay. More often than not, fleeing survivors would be caught and executed in the streets by soldiers.

There were also soldiers patrolling the streets, keeping a close watch on the survivors. They could even be seen in large groups guarding the entrances of buildings, not so much guarding as monitoring and preventing any unexpected escapes.

As time passed, a large crowd of survivors gathered in front of the closed gate of the infested wall, shouting and raising their fists in protest. The soldiers on the wall, impassive, watched these desperate survivors coldly.

An officer with a megaphone tried to warn them about the dangers outside, but it had no effect. The terror and dread of the zombies, especially the prospect of a Level 6 zombie, had deeply imprinted itself in their minds.

To the survivors, a Level 6 zombie was like an evil superman, a sadistic entity coming to kill them. Faced with such a threat, ordinary people didn’t even contemplate resistance. In their minds, escape seemed like the only way to avoid impending disaster.

Just as the sun was rising, several specks appeared in the sky. They were noticed instantly and people pointed at them, exclaiming, "Look, what’s that flying towards us?"

The soldiers guarding the gate, hearing these words, all turned their gaze in that direction, confirming that several specks had indeed appeared on the horizon and were rapidly approaching.

"What is it?" someone wondered.

As the specks got closer, it became clear that they were flying machines marked with a symbol of two hands holding flowers. From the looks of it, the technology was advanced, far beyond the capability of Qinshan Base.

In one of the offices in the Comprehensive Management Area government building, Li Songhua’s face was flushed, and the veins on his forehead were bulging. His fanged mouth was open, looking quite hostile, showing just how angry he was.

Sitting opposite him was a man in his fifties. He bore a jovial expression and was watching Li Songhua with amusement.

"Ah ... calm down. Anger is bad for your health ..."

Bang!

As soon as he finished speaking, Li Songhua stood up abruptly, his eyes full of fury, and roared, "Calm down? How do you expect me to calm down? If it wasn’t for you people, would it be so chaotic out there? There’s a Level 6 zombie in the horde. How come you didn’t tell me?"

Killing intent was evident in Li Songhua’s voice. He could no longer suppress the raging fury within him. At this point, ideas of the United District, Exoskeleton Armor Soldiers, and mobile troops could all go to hell. All he wanted was to kill, completely forgetting about the formidable power of the United District.

The elderly man on the other side seemed to realize his own blunder and didn’t agitate Li Songhua any further. Despite the disparity in their statuses, Li Songhua was a Level 4 New Human. Provoking him while he was in a fit of rage was not going to end well.

"Erm... I understand that this mistake was our fault. However, Director Li, rest assured. All we need is a little time, and we can handle this for you!"

"You better keep your word!"

Hearing his words, Li Songhua’s anger lessened a bit, but he was still seething.

"Of course!"

"So, how exactly do you plan on settling this?"

"Our United District will send troops to suppress the disorderly survivors. Also, as compensation to you, we can take on the job of repelling the attacking zombie horde, but... if things go bad, we can’t make any promises."

"Hmph, Yang Tong, that’s it? After all, this isn’t your base. Who knows if you’ll cut corners or cause further damage? "

"What... how could that be possible? Look, I know you don’t trust me, so how about this: I will give you the blueprints and production line of the ’Mechanical Claw’ as compensation."

"That’s more like it."

Li Songhua’s anger dissipated somewhat. The so-called ’Mechanical Claw’ was a particle beam laser weapon used by the United District soldiers, which was much more powerful than the Canghe-P90. Trading this chaos for the production line and blueprints of the Mechanical Claw didn’t seem like a bad deal, and could even be considered somewhat profitable.

"So, it’s settled then. I’ll go inform them, and our United District soldiers will soon assist the compatriots of the Qinshan Base in suppressing this situation. Director Li, you can rest assured."

"Hmm, okay then."

As Li Songhua was about to ask them to leave, he noticed the black specks flying in from the horizon.

"Huh?"
