Chapter 721: Chapter 717 Floating Flower Park_1

"What’s going on today? Why are there no guards? Are they all that busy?"

A man’s moderately-paced complaining voice sounded from outside. His footsteps quickened as he approached the area.

From the sounds of it, there seemed to only be one outsider.

The three individuals behind the door tensed their muscles, crouched down like leopards ready for the hunt!

The man outside apparently didn’t notice anything strange and immediately opened the door, continuing to grumble under his breath.

"Dammit! It’s just someone from the United District, acting high and mighty! F*ck, Li Songhua you’re such a coward!"

"Jinhai, Jinhai! F*ck! It’s all your fault!"

"Bastards!"

As the man reached out and pressed down on the doorknob, his complaints abruptly halted as his expression flipped from anger to horror!

The moment he opened the door, he felt something cold pressed against his neck. Years of experience surviving in this post-apocalyptic world told him that this was the chilling sensation of a blade!

Who would have known that he would be met with such a surprise right from the start!

The room’s lights were turned on brightly, and from behind the door, three soldiers in uniform emerged, one of whom was a middle-aged man who was brandishing a blade against his neck.

"He’s a civilian," said Zhang Ding.

Dai Changhao scrutinized the man who had just entered. His eyes lit up as he noticed that the man was dressed not in a military uniform but a white protective suit. The badge pinned on his chest indicated that this man was a scientific researcher at Qinshan Base.

As a scientific researcher, he should know the location of the item they were looking for!

Once they realized he was an ordinary civilian, the three of them hesitated slightly. After ensuring no one was outside, they closed the door. Dai Changhao moved the sofa forward and sat down comfortably.

The researcher looked horrified, he tried a few times to brush off the blade from his neck that emitted this chilling aura, but Zhang Ding slapped his hands away each time.

"You... you aren’t from here..."

The researcher, sounding shaken, asked. It had just occurred to him that something was off about these three.

"Correct, we came to find something. As long as you tell us, we can let you go."

"What are you looking for?"

The man promptly asked without any hesitation.

"You should know about the incident that happened yesterday. We came here to find that ’super cannon’ capable of defeating a Level 6 zombie."

"Super cannon?"

The man looked puzzled for a moment. After considering it for some time, he finally said, "You’re probably looking for the Dragon Slayer Sword, not some super cannon..."

"Who cares what the hell it is, the Dragon Slayer Sword... You even know its name, don’t you? So, you should know where Li Songhua hid it."

Dai Changhao asked. However, upon saying this, the man threatened by Zhang Ding suddenly became anxious and pleaded, "Gentlemen, although I am part of the research team, I am only a D-tier staff member. I don’t know where the Dragon Slayer Sword is hidden. I... I don’t know how to answer..."

"Don’t know? So you’re of no use? Okay! Then you can go to hell!"

A murderous aura emanated from Dai Changhao. His weapon, the Canghe-P90, was aimed at the man’s head.

Startled, the man cowered, pleading quickly, "No, no, no, even though I don’t know where the Dragon Slayer Sword is, I was present yesterday. It seemed to be fired from the Floating Flower Park. It was rumored that the park used to be Chen Huaijiang’s storage place and there was a shelter with a basement in it. It should be hidden there. Please don’t kill me, I’ve told you everything I know."

"Floating Flower Park?"

Dai Changhao stood up abruptly, commanding, "Let’s go!" He then took the lead, opened the door and headed out.

Before the researcher could even fully exhale, he heard Zhang Ding’s sinister voice.

"Want to live? You might go and snitch. However, we are men of our word. So, why don’t you die for a bit."

Bang!

Without warning, the man’s speech was cut off as Zhang Ding struck him on the back of the head with his elbow, causing him to lose consciousness on the spot.

The three men moved swiftly, leaving Li’s Mansion and traversing several blocks to arrive at Floating Flower Park. But when they got there, they realized that the original park had been torn down. In its place, seven to eight-story residential buildings had been erected. There was quite a bustle of activity, with people coming and going from a few of the buildings.

"This place... has been turned into barracks for the soldiers by Li Songhua." Little Wu frowned.

"Wait, look closely. Those people don’t seem to be Qinshan Base’s soldiers."

Dai Changhao noticed something off. As a Level 4 New Human, his eyesight was excellent, allowing him to clearly see that something was off about the people in the brightly lit barracks.

There was a constant flow of individuals on the third floor. Groups of people, carrying washbasins, walked down the hallway, laughing and joking. They seemed to be freshening up before bed, but it was only around eight o’clock. Soldiers at Qinshan Base usually slept at around eleven, so those who returned to their dormitories to freshen up by eight were unprecedented.

"Their uniforms..."

After Dai Changhao’s reminder, Little Wu and Zhang Ding noticed that although the upper garments worn by the people in the dormitory were military uniforms, the dye was slightly lighter than that of Qinshan Base’s military uniforms. Moreover, the patterns embroidered on their chests were distinctly different from those at Qinshan Base!

"Great, these people might be reinforcements coming from Jinhai to assist Li Songhua."

"So, how are we supposed to search now?" Little Wu became a bit irritable.

Just then, a voice, carrying an undeniable tone, rang out in the darkness.

"Hey, you three from Qinshan, come here."

Dai Changhao turned to look, noticing a few flickering red lights in the darkness. They were the glowing ends of lit cigarettes.

"There are people over there."

"Didn’t you hear? Are you looking for trouble?"

The few men squatting in the darkness and stealthily smoking seemed slightly annoyed when they saw that Dai Changhao and his group didn’t respond.

The three men didn’t move, they just quietly observed the men in the dark.

"Ah, a few audacious old fuckers, are you defying us?"

The three continued to remain indifferent, which infuriated the smokers in the dark. They spouted some dialect, instantly rising to their feet and striding towards Dai Changhao and his group.

"Are you fucking deaf? Can’t understand people’s language?"

"What are they saying?" Little Wu scratched his head and gave a confused look. The men spoke too fast and in dialect, making it hard to understand. In China, people from neighboring counties could have difficulty understanding each other’s dialects, let alone from a different province?

"Damn it, they seem to be saying we are deaf and can’t understand them!" Zhang Ding got the general idea, and a murdurous glint flashed in his eyes.

"Don’t jump the gun, let’s ask what they want first," Dai Changhao placated Zhang Ding, then politely asked the men approaching them.

"Excuse me, what do you need us for?"
