Chapter 702: Chapter 698 Strange Perfume Scent_1
Just as a few people were conversing in the room, outside the government building of Qinshan Base.
Ah Fu saw some people from the City of Bright Moon guarding the back door and couldn’t help but wonder what Su Sigui was trying to discuss with Li Songhua. However, upon being unable to enter, Ah fu turned his curiosity towards the Bright Moon City soldiers who had slinked away from the main group.
Their behavior was too peculiar, like thieves scoping out a target before a heist.
Without making a sound, Ah Fu left and went to the location where the soldiers from the City of Bright Moon had stealthily passed by. Through the lingering scent in the air, he was able to follow their trail.
Although he was not quick, and as a mutant zombie, he was not adept at speed, he was so powerful that even his pace was not sluggish.
The few soldiers from the City of Bright Moon who had sneaked away from the group were no ordinary ones. The lowest-ranked among them was a Level 3 New Human. Moving at extreme speeds, dodging bullets and the like were effortless for them. However, it seemed they had some restraints, for they were carefully advancing, seemingly in search of something.
They split into three groups. Ah Fu followed one of the groups. With so many guards around the government building, Ah Fu, being of a large build, knew he was easily detectable. However, he did not seem worried at all.
When Ah Fu caught up, the soldiers from the City of Bright Moon had already moved quite the distance. He trailed behind them, sniffing their scent and following with a swagger. It was only when he saw the silhouette of a soldier from the City of Bright Moon in the distance that he halted.
"Looks like I’ve caught up."
With a snicker, Ah Fu retracted all his vitality. After he was confident that he wasn’t giving off any human scent, he sniffed his arm and wore a contemplative face.
"The Boss said that one cannot smell their own scent. Just to be safe, I should spray some perfume."
With that thought, Ah Fu pulled out a small bottle of perfume from god-knows-where and sprayed it on himself. He sniffed at it until he could smell the sweet fragrance that followed, and then he stopped.
Just when he was about to continue his course, a deep voice resonated from beside him.
"Brother Fu, what are you doing here?"
The voice’s sudden emergence startled even Ah Fu. When he recovered, he saw a soldier looking at him peculiarly.
The soldier was the leader of a patrol squad Ah Fu had encountered earlier. Although earlier, he was leading a dozen soldiers, now he was alone.
Without missing a beat, Ah Fu casually shook his head and said, "Nothing much? Just taking a stroll."
"In that case, I won’t disturb your leisurely stroll."
The sight of Ah Fu filled the leader with fear. Not daring to chat further, he turned to leave but was stopped by Ah Fu.
"Hey, wait a minute."
"What’s up?"
The leader asked in confusion only to see Ah Fu gesture for him to come over.
"Brother Fu, do you need something?"
The leader had no suspicion towards Ah Fu and hurried over with an earnest face at his call.
"I’m not doing anything, just need to borrow something."
"Ah? If only I have it, feel free to take it, Brother Fu."
"Very good."
Just as the leader stepped in front of Ah Fu, Ah Fu showed a wicked smile. He raised a stout arm and clawed it towards the leader.
At the sight of Ah Fu’s movements, the leader’s pupils contracted. Suddenly, Ah Fu made his move. The leader’s vision blurred as he saw Ah Fu’s hand lifting and before he could react, he lost consciousness.
"Your body is so sturdy, it should be able to let me get inside."
Ah Fu mumbled, his words giving one an eerie feeling. Now, he had already turned his hand into a sharp zombie claw, slashing two wounds that formed a cross shape on the leader’s head.
Without wasting much time, Ah Fu pulled open the leader’s scalp and let out a stream of black fog, drilling into the leader’s skin.
The flesh inside the skin was quickly eroded, even the bones were corroded by a force of the Five Elements. Soon, an undamaged leader stood in place. However, his eyes now looked extremely strange and his body was twisted. There were lumps of flesh appearing on his skin from time to time, like a container filled with liquid more than its capacity, being squeezed too hard.
The pupils in his eyes were very large, turning slightly red, but soon, after a few adjustments, the pupils returned to their normal size and restored their brown color.
Meanwhile, Ah Fu had successfully morphed into the leader. Controlling his gaze, he looked around. Ah Fu moved his body, producing a crackling sound, and then moved towards the direction where the soldiers from the City of Bright Moon had gone.
"Eh, do you guys smell a fragrance?"
Soldiers from the City of Bright Moon were moving through the bushes and trees. After perfectly evading a patrol squad, from a dense bush, a head popped out, sniffing vigorously and asked in a low voice.
"There’s a fragrance."
Another head emerged, but this one was looking back where there were no people.
"There’s no human scent, there shouldn’t be anyone following us. This fragrance is very light, it seems like a woman’s, no, not the body, it’s perfume, strawberry flavored...."
"There’s no one, it’s strange."
"This perfume scent should have come from far away, it must have been sprayed quite recklessly. If someone was really following us, they wouldn’t have sprayed so much perfume, don’t worry."
Three voices sounded from the bush. After their brief discussion, the two heads that had emerged calmed down, took a careful look around, and continued their advance aimlessly, still unsure of what they were actually trying to do.
They did not know that they had overthought things. The truth was Ah Fu had only sprayed the perfume to cover the zombie scent on his body. He didn’t think much of it, yet coincidentally, this made the three soldiers from the City of Bright Moon unsuspecting.
After they left, another head emerged from a distant bush. It was Ah Fu who had disguised himself as the leader, scanned the surroundings in confusion, scratched his head in puzzlement, and then quickly followed the soldiers.
The three soldiers from the City of Bright Moon moved at a moderate pace. Successfully evading the patrolling soldiers several times, they stopped at a corner in the yard.
One of them cautiously peeked out, looked around and upon ensuring that no one was around, informed his companions, "There’s no one."
"Let’s go."
Everyone was intentionally lowering their voices to virtual whispers, and they could not be heard clearly. Even Ah Fu, with his exceptional hearing, could not make out what the three were talking about. All he could do was to follow along cluelessly.
Su Sigui coming to find Li Songhua was strange in itself. These soldiers from the City of Bright Moon, who were secretly prowling around the yard, exuded an aura of conspiracy, seemingly harboring ill intentions towards Li Songhua.
