I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World

Chapter 677: Chapter 675: You’ve completely disgraced the Zombie King_1

Clearing the wilderness in early spring was a strenuous task. However, the survivors were doing it with gusto due to the coercion of Peace Party’s policies and the prospect of unearthing valuable finds during the process, just like this particular survivor.

Unlike animals, which become zombies or evolve, it was typically harder to identify plant evolution unless the plant had evolved peculiarly. Hoping to obtain their Evolution Crystal Core or Evolution Crystal purely relied upon luck.

You might dig up a large clump of vegetation without discovering a shred of an Evolution Crystal Core, or by chance, obtain these resources from a handful of wild grass.

After digging up some Evolution Crystal Cores and Evolution Crystals, you could exchange them for food at the designated hut.

Those tasks which carried the chance of striking a profitable find were the most exhilarating. Many survivors shared this lottery-like hopeful mindset, hence their growing enthusiasm.

Therein lies the reason why there were thousands of survivors engaged in wilderness reclamation.

Only when the survivor dashed into the hut did Tang Ye withdraw his gaze. Xu Changchi then explained the reason behind the phenomenon.

He nodded, then cast a puzzled glance at a massive pile of corpses, next to a truck in the distance. Each corpse had a bullethole, suggesting it has been shot. To his knowledge, only Peace Party’s soldiers currently in Gujin Base had firearms.

Xu Changchi also turned to look at the site and quickly replied, "Chairman, those who fell foul of the rules... as you just saw."

"Hello, Chairman!"

Before he could finish, a group of survivors armed with farming implements greeted Tang Ye enthusiastically, cutting off Xu Changchi’s explanation.

Tang Ye waved back. Once the group moved away, Xu Changchi continued, "As you witnessed, Chairman, some individuals find Evolution Crystals while digging. When we first set up the food exchange shop, many ignored the rules—killing others as soon as they unearthed something substantial."

"Without rules, there can be no harmony. Thus, I ordered some people to come and supervise, not so much to monitor their work but rather to prevent them from killing for profit. Those corpses over there? They belong to those who violated the rules."

"Hmm."

Tang Ye nodded in affirmation, his eyes trained on a nearby pond where a pair of Peace Party soldiers patrolled with guns.

With its burgeoning community, Gujin Base had begun to resemble a society. Because of Tang Ye’s presence, it was different from other survivor bases. These other bases always needed to be on guard against zombies outside, but not Gujin Base. Due to Liang Hanyang driving all the zombies ten kilometers away, the survivors here could reclaim and cultivate both farmland and crops in the wild, offering a source of food supplies to Gujin Base and even the Peace Party.

But in every faction, there are different types of people. In troubled times, strict laws are needed, the stricter, the better! Human nature can be terrifying and taking people for granted can lead to exploitation. Left unchecked, things quickly spiraled out of control.

To manage a faction, a balanced mixture of rewards and punishments was required—showing people that you could be harsh but also capable of being generous.

Walking ahead with Xu Changchi at their side, Tang Ye saw more and more cultivated earth as they neared. Since it was only March, the regular planting season in April had yet to arrive. But once it did, seeds would be sown.

However, looking at these fields, Tang Ye couldn’t help but remember the heat lamps at Chenyang 169 Base. These could facilitate year-round cultivation. But these lamps could only be found in the North China region; in the South China region, when to plant depended completely on the seasons.

In the afternoon, after touring for two hours, Xu Changchi accompanied Tang Ye back to base.

"That’s enough, you should get back to work."

"Alright."

Xu Changchi bowed and left with a few soldiers. Once he was gone, survivors in the base began approaching Tang Ye, either to flatter or out of admiration, until Tang Ye was worn out by their constant greetings.

"Chairman, Chairman, you... hello!"

"So this is the Chairman, he looks so young."

"I heard he’s a Level 6 New Human, wow."

"That’s so amazing?"

Listening to the survivors discussing in excitement, Tang Ye frowned, and with a sudden flash, disappeared, leaving a large crowd stunned.

A while later, Tang Ye pulled Ah Fu out of an unknown building, kicking him to the ground right afterwards.

"Chief, why did you hit me?"

Ah Fu appeared wronged, scratching his head and dared not to look at Tang Ye’s face. Seeing Tang Ye’s darkening expression, he looked on helplessly and received another kick.

"You’re enjoying yourself, huh? Found a new haunt? Get lost!"

"I won’t play anymore..."

Ah Fu quickly got up and ran away, only stopping when there was a safe distance between him and Tang Ye. Ever since his encounter at Chenghuang Hotel, Ah Fu had been fascinated, always going back to watch it repeatedly and becoming a notorious pervert.

While Tang Ye had no control over Ah Fu’s habits, what rubbed him wrong was how the rest of the Peace Party gossip about Ah Fu’s indecent conduct. As Ah Fu’s superior, Tang Ye couldn’t help but feel melancholic each time he heard the talks.

More than once, Tang Ye had heard of Ah Fu’s public harassment of local women. Each time, anger surged within him. The moment he left, Ah Fu snuck into some red-light alley to have his fun.

"Let’s go!"

Seeing the curious survivors crowding around again, Tang Ye couldn’t help but curse out loud and gave Ah Fu another vicious kick in the butt, nearly knocking him over.

"What are you looking at? Disperse!"

Tang Ye shouted around, and immediately, more than a dozen Peace Party soldiers dispersed the crowd. He stooped to pick up Ah Fu and shot him a menacing message.

"You’ve made me lose face as the Zombie King!"

"It wasn’t on purpose..."

When facing Tang Ye, Ah Fu could only look at him like a child who had made a mistake.

"Dammit! Be more careful in the future. You have a crowd watching the moment you step in there. I don’t know how you could show your face!"

Tang Ye roared angrily. He recalled how, three minutes ago, when he found Ah Fu’s location, he saw a crowd gathered outside the house. Perhaps it was Ah Fu’s huge body that sparked their curiosity, and they came to listen in.
