I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 647 - 645 Assassination Mission_1

Chapter 647: Chapter 645 Assassination Mission_1

"You knew it all along, didn’t you?" Gong Xiao spoke weakly.

Tang Ye ignored her and instead focused on the reanimated silver-armored zombie. Of all the corpses, only this one stirred back to life. The rest remained still, drained of life by Gong Xiao and left without a chance to transform into a silver-armored zombie.

This silver-armored zombie was infected by Gong Xiao, yet to his surprise, Tang Ye found that he was able to see from its perspective and control it, too!

What did this mean? It suggested that the zombies he infected who went on to infect others remained under his direct command even after the transformation.

The only difference was that the silver-armored zombies he infected had a slightly darker armor than his own, but Gong Xiao’s infected zombie was significantly darker. It even emanated a faint black iron...

"Ah, what are you doing? Stop! Ok, ok... please, I was wrong! Bro, please, don’t hurt me. Have mercy!!"

Suddenly, Tang Ye roughly pulled Gong Xiao away and cut off one of her hands with his flesh-and-blood knife. He estimated his strength, ignored her cries, and rushed back to kneel in front of the silver-armored zombie. As if repeating the same move, he lifted its hand and swung his knife downwards.

Swoosh!

The zombie’s arm was effortlessly severed and began to regenerate after a while.

"Gong Xiao’s infected silver-armored zombie has a significantly lower defense." Tang Ye silently remarked.

When he had cut off Gong Xiao’s arm, it had required a considerable amount of force, creating a dull sensation in his hand. However, the infected zombie felt much softer under his blade.

He had tested the defense of a Level 1 silver-armored zombie in Lin City before. Its defense was nearly twice as resilient as this silver-armored zombie.

Perhaps as the infection continued, the defense of subsequent generations of silver-armored zombies would decline with each generation.

"What are you doing? It really hurts...ah...my hand."

Gong Xiao, with tear-streaked cheeks, was miserably sobbing. She didn’t dare to complain or fight back as Tang Ye had swiftly severed her hand. So she just helplessly cried out.

"You have no respect for women."

"And what gem are you? You were a creation of mine."

"Humph."

Rolling his eyes, Tang Ye tossed aside the hand of the zombie Gong Xiao had infected, turned around, and threw her severed hand back into her arms.

"Here, take it. I was just curious. It’s not like we can’t reattach it."

Gong Xiao received the hand and cast a glance between it and her severed stump with a sigh of defeat.

"Why are you giving this back to me? It grew back already."

"Then throw it away." Tang Ye said nonchalantly. He put on his helmet and headphones, brought out a new phone, and set an electronic song (one from the pre-apocalypse era) as his ringtone. He then got on his motorbike and tilted his head towards Gong Xiao, gesturing for her to hop on.

Pouting, she muttered quietly, "Being zombies is so boring, humans are much more interesting."

Tang Ye just smiled and didn’t respond. He knew precisely what Gong Xiao was talking about. Zombies were devoid of emotions, only a person deeply in love would willingly serve someone else’s needs - something a zombie wouldn’t comprehend.

Tang Ye knew about it, but his mentality had been altered by his physical mutation. Even if he wanted to, he lacked the emotional capacity for it. Besides, Gong Xiao’s appearance and figure were his own creations, which always felt somewhat odd.

Gong Xiao sat behind Tang Ye and asked in a teasing tone. Her voice was enchanting, like a bewitching melody.

"Are we going back to Lin City?"

Tang Ye seemed to be oblivious to her tone and replied, "No, I have an errand to run."

With that, he revved the engine and sped down the mountain.

Three days ago, a drone patrol from Chenyang 169 Base spotted a Level 5 Water Guanyin emerging from a branch of the Qulong River. The creature was moving east, leaving a path of destruction in its wake through numerous small towns. After a day of observation, Chenyang 169 Base confirmed that its destination was, shockingly, Yunchuan City!

On its way, it wiped out seven survivor refuges, each with a population exceeding several thousand.

Two months prior, the large survivor base in Donglan City had managed to capture and kill a Level 4 Water Guanyin zombie. Research revealed that it possessed a strong telepathic ability. Unlike other zombies which could only maintain a psychic connection with their own kind, it could sense the brainwaves of all living beings, thereby pinpointing its prey!

It remained unclear whether the zombie outbreak was related to the Water Guanyin.

Because of these abilities, the Water Guanyin could easily locate its prey. At the same time, this capability led this breed of zombies to disdain attacking places with fewer living beings. There were nearly a million lives residing at Chenyang 169 Base, so the high concentration of brainwaves was sure to attract the Water Guanyin’s attention.

Moreover, Chenyang 169 Base was the nearest base from where the Water Guanyin had emerged!

Upon realising this, Chenyang 169 Base immediately issued a red alert. It was predicted that the Level 5 Water Guanyin would arrive by dusk the next day. Meanwhile, the higher-ups at Chenyang 169 Base decided to dispatch their army to intercept and kill the creature.

Long military trucks carrying countless soldiers and various advanced weaponry rumbled down the spacious roads. The soldiers sat rigidly, holding the Sirius Star laser weapons firmly in their hands. However, their faces were devoid of smiles and replaced by emotionless expressions.

None of them knew whether they would survive the upcoming battle.

The Water Guanyin was colossal, its power far surpassing any Level 5 zombie transformed from human; it was countless times stronger!

The Chenyang 169 Base decided not to withhold any information from the participating soldiers and publicized all known data on the Water Guanyin. Needless to say, the details sent chills down everyone’s spine.

According to the escalating power levels seen after a zombie’s evolution, the power of a Level 5 Water Guanyin could terrifyingly surpass that of a regular Level 6 zombie!

As for the laser weapon Sirius Star, few were confident that it could penetrate the thick skin of a Level 5 Water Guanyin.

"We’re entering the west district of Yunchuan City. Everyone prepare for combat and clear out the zombies along the way."

"Yes, sir!"

The soldiers let out a loud roar to boost morale. With their weapons in hand, each jumped off their trucks, gearing up with determined hearts. Formation intact, they began to march into the west district of Yunchuan City.

Upon nearing the city zone, the numerous zombies on the streets picked up the scent of humans and began charging towards the incoming soldiers with bloodthirsty roars. Regardless of their behavior - skulking, pretending to be dead, feasting on the corpses, or just standing idly -they all began to rush towards the outskirts of the city.

A minute later, a multitude of lasers accompanied by a flurry of bullets rained down upon the horde of zombies. In an instant, the frontline zombies were shredded and ripped apart by the devastating firepower.

A fleet of enormous tanks resembling monstrous steel beasts rumbled forward at undiminished speed, crushing everything in their path as the deafening blasts of their cannons roared.

And behind them, a war vehicle several times larger than a tank inched forward, the chilling glare on its front making the entire road crumble into ruins with its sheer bulk.
