"What, you want to live?"

Tang Ye looked coldly surprised, holding a hand to his ear as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

"Haha, you sure didn’t wear this expression when you tried to control me."

Tang Ye sneered, his intent to kill palpable. "I’m sorry, but I won’t let you off."

With that, Tang Ye turned to leave. Chen Zhou’an looked pale, opening his mouth to speak but saying nothing. He watched as Tang Ye walked through the horde of evolved zombies, no longer intending to command them to attack Tang Ye.

After all, Tang Ye was a Level 6 zombie. To send these lesser zombies against him would only result in their guaranteed death!

Desolate and distraught, Chen Zhou’an collapsed onto the ground, despair apparent in his eyes. After a while, his expression changed sharply. He shivered, gasping as he noticed the iron rod, kicked over by Tang Ye, sticking out of his gut.

Chen Zhouquan hurriedly came forward to help him up.

"What just happened to me?"

"Old bro, you were under the control of that monster. You started pleading for your life with Lord Zombie King. But before you could finish speaking, his Lordship threw this rod into your stomach."

After Chen Zhouquan’s explanation, Chen Zhou’an nodded. He took a few deep breaths, pulled the iron rod out of his gut and blood started to flow, staining his clothes red. However, as an evolved human, he had strong vitality. Plus, the injury on his stomach wasn’t life-threatening. After moving a bit, his only complaint was discomfort.

The horde of evolved zombies ceased their attack, and the motor gang stopped firing as well. All eyes were on the stationary zombies. The atmosphere fell silent for a few seconds. The remaining people sheathed their weapons and followed Tang Ye’s figure into the factory.

Tang Ye swept through the zombie horde and the factory. He focused on the smart zombie, whose tentacles had grown into a separate entity granting him a unique field of vision. The smart zombie was not trying to escape, but instead was sitting on a sofa in a room, lost in thought.

He could smell her. Her scent led him in a particular direction. With the motor gang in tow, Tang Ye walked toward a large aluminum shed.

The shed had been built against a wall and had been abandoned for a long while. It was entirely empty, with only a few skeletal remains in the corner. The flesh had rotted away, with only a few tendons still clinging to the bone.

A wall on the side of the shed had been violently blasted open. Tang Ye’s eyes lit up and he led the group inside. It was a medium-sized courtyard with lots of rooms and overgrown grass.

On the ground were bodies and discarded food packaging. Judging by the dirt smeared over them, they had been there for quite some time. Among the bodies, some had clearly been dead for a long time, while others had been dead for less than a month.

It was impossible to discern how the older bodies had died, but the cause of death for the fresher ones was evident.

"This is...they had their skin peeled off. Who the f*ck did this?"

"Old bro, come over here. Doesn’t this necklace look familiar?" Chen Zhouquan discovered something unusual and called Chen Zhou’an over. On one of the bodies lying on the ground, a necklace was casually placed around its neck.

Chen Zhou’an bent down to pick up the necklace. After examining it and the other flayed, bloody bodies on the ground, he seemed to have a sudden realization.

"These are all female bodies," one of the bikers preemptively announced after kicking the leg of one of the bodies and taking a closer look.

The rest of the biker gang turned to look. Tang Ye glanced over before quickly moving to a door. He ripped the door off its hinges and stepped inside. Soon after, a figure was thrown out and smashed into another room.

Tang Ye burst out, clutching the figure’s throat. It was the smart zombie!

"Why aren’t you resisting?" Tang Ye asked, incredulous.

The smart zombie looked lifeless. Her skin had more wrinkles than a week ago, making her appear a decade older. On some of her cracked and split skin, the grey zombie flesh was visible.

Hoisted up by Tang Ye, she moved weakly. "[gasp] Resist? How can I resist? You are dozens of times stronger than me. I can’t fight you, and I can’t run now either. You won’t even let me go. I’d rather you kill me straight away instead of torturing me to death."

Tang Ye rubbed his nose, feeling a bit taken aback. He had expected her to resist and make a fuss, but she had admitted defeat so easily.

"So it’s a zombie you’ve been looking for..."

Bai Xinran looked a bit weird, while Tang Ye glanced at everyone, returned his gaze to the smart zombie, and let her down.

"Everybody out." Tang Ye spoke to the crowd.

Chen Zhou’an and others were taken aback. They had imagined Tang Ye would kill this despicable zombie with a thunderous blow, but now he was asking them to leave?

What was he planning to do?

However, no one dared question Tang Ye’s words, and everyone obediently left.

"Everybody leave the factory. I don’t want to see anyone here now." Tang Ye added.

"Okay."

After everyone left, the smart zombie looked a bit confused. She couldn’t understand what Tang Ye was planning to do. She wasn’t attractive, was she?

"You’re not going to kill me?" She asked.

"Mmm, I won’t kill you."

"What?"

She couldn’t believe it and looked at Tang Ye in confusion.

"But I do have a better option."

"What option?"

Tang Ye gave a sinister smile, making her shiver in fear. She knew this option would definitely be detrimental to her.

"What’s your name?"

Tang Ye looked around, his gaze lingering on her wrinkled skin, then moved to the bodies behind her. He took his time before speaking.

"My name... I can’t quite remember. It’s been a long time since anyone called me by my name. I think it’s... "

Her pale eyes sparkled with a glint of reminiscence. After some thought, she finally said, "Ah, I remember now. My name is Gong Xiao."

"Gong Xiao, that’s a nice name." Tang Ye nodded approvingly.

"What are you going to do now?"

"Nothing, I’m just figuring out what to do with you."

"What!" She screamed and stepped backward in fear.

Tang Ye turned his head and gave her a bright yet terrifying smile.

"You’re a smart zombie. Killed so many people just to peel their skin and disguise yourself as a human?"
