Chapter 574: Chapter 571 Corrosive Dragon Breath_1
"Hold back these monsters!"
The Level 3 New Human officer gritted his teeth as he and his fellow soldiers resolutely rebuilt their human shield. However, as the number of rampaging spectral zombies multiplied, they found that their bullets could hardly keep pace with the growing horde.
The tragic scene was heartrending. The onlookers yearned to offer help, but soon realized that they were completely powerless in this situation.
The cruel irony was insufferable - their sympathy made them feel guilty about their inaction, yet they understood that to participate would surely mean a swift death.
Round after round of bullets, glowing with an orange light, whirled through the mob of spectral zombies, piercing flesh and causing explosions of a dark green ichor.
The survivors at the front had vanished around a corner. The people behind them tried to aid those who had fallen after catching sight of the true form of the spectral zombies. Just then, a large contingent of spectral zombies crashed into the human shield formed by the soldiers, sending bodies soaring through the air, as dark green blood mixed with crimson.
An odor of decay hit a survivor who had just been helped up to his feet. Heart filled with dread, he wanted to run but could hardly move. Among the crowd, a soldier managed to break away, spraying bullets into the air behind him in a desperate attempt to halt the advancing spectral zombies.
"No!"
A woman cried out as her husband was cleaved into two right before her eyes, then saw an enormous, four-meter-tall spectral zombie appear in front of her.
Ahh!
Closing her eyes reflexively, she braced herself for the pain to come, but instead, an abrupt transformation took place!
Seeing Qiongli finally disappear from his sight, Tang Ye underwent a world-shaking transformation. His clothes bulged outwards as his muscles expanded at an explosive rate, tearing the fabric apart. His skin, the natural flesh tone of a human, turned alarmingly pale with blackish-purple veins visible underneath.
His eyes transformed into circles of solid black, and his hair grew rapidly as if it was turbocharged grass, reaching his waist within seconds while turning a wan white.
The shredded remnants of his clothes fell to the ground like sand, swiftly turning into a black mist that wrapped around Tang Ye, forming a long black robe.
"Come on!"
Stretching his mouth to a bizarre angle, he roared out the challenge. Then, he leapt, and blood-streaked lumps started to swell on his back. Soon, a pair of skeletal wings sprouted there, sending out tendrils of dark-purple flesh that quickly filled out into a set of forty-meter-long wings, spanning the breadth of the valley.
Boom boom boom!
The tips of the Level 6 Zombie’s wings dug into the rocky walls on either side, dislodging rocks and stones and knocking down entire trees, widening the thirty-meter-wide entrance of the valley due to his tremendous power.
For a moment, people couldn’t register what had happened. When they turned around, they saw a gigantic pair of wings extending from above, effectively dividing them from the spectral zombies.
"What is that?"
"Could it be a high-level zombie?"
"Those wings are huge! Run!"
TangYe’s wings spanned the width of the valley, the open area in front of him only filled with the corpses of fallen soldiers.
"Die!"
With a bellow, Tang Ye thrust his elongated hands forward, his countless tendrils and bone spines piercing outwards like a swarm of dragons.
The zombie flesh which was already greenish-black from the start, exploded one after the other from Tang Ye, and every bone spike and tendril moved to the sides, piercing into the rocky walls. Under Tang Ye’s immense strength, large chunks were torn apart and flung violently into the spectral zombie crowd.
"Corpse Dragon! Come forth!"
Tang Ye roared out, he needed a sidekick!
At his summons, a rumbling draconic roar echoed through the sky. The ground cracked open, and a colossal dragon head emerged, rapidly ascending and coiling in the sky.
The dragon’s roar was thunderous, drawing people’s attention. As they turned to look, they gasped at the dragon’s clearly visible scales and the intricate patterns - it appeared so real!
For a moment, people doubted their eyes - how could there possibly be a dragon in this world?
But the pain of their clenched hands on their faces felt too real. If that wasn’t a dragon, then what was it?
"A dragon?"
"Oh no, it’s a zombie dragon! Run!"
Although initially taken aback by the majesty of the Corpse Dragon, many could tell from a glance at its eerie, patterned scales and the dead look in its eyes that it was a high-ranking zombie.
Zombies don’t protect world peace—they seek living organisms in this world!
Therefore, the appearance of the Corpse Dragon didn’t elicit reverential awe from the people, but only made them run even faster!
After circling the sky and making a display of its power, the Corpse Dragon – following Tang Ye’s will – opened its mouth towards the open area in front of him. From its throat gushed a rust-colored liquid that slowly seeped onto the ground.
Sizzle sizzle sizzle~
The moment the liquid touched the ground, a plume of white smoke billowed upwards. The liquid was corrosive! The Corpse Dragon’s mouth continued to produce more of the fluid, which trickled out slowly at first but gradually increased in flow, like a slowly opened tap, until it finally gushed out.
Roar~!
The dragon lifted its head, its mouth overflowing with the rusty liquid. With a thunderous roar, it blasted out the liquid in a massive jet, much akin to dragon’s breath!
The corrosive liquid spanned the massive open land. In an instant, countless spectral zombies appeared, their flesh visibly dissolving at an alarming rate, while white smoke hissed around them.
The Corpse Dragon swung its head around, the arc of its corrosive breath changing with each movement. Wherever the breath reached, spectral zombies disintegrated into pools of dark green blood.
The main issue they faced was that the spectral zombies tended to remain invisible unless they wished to be seen. So, Tang Ye and the Corpse Dragon had no idea how many remained. All they could do was flail around with their tendrils and bone spines, killing on contact.
Even the Corpse Dragon couldn’t see them. The placid willpower it released with Tang Ye had no effect on the spectral zombies. The Corpse Dragon spewed its corrosive breath ceaselessly until Tang Ye commanded it to stop.
"They should all be gone now, right?"
Tang Ye stood atop the head of the Corpse Dragon, gazing down at the pockmarked terrain beneath him and murmured to himself. Wisps of white smoke still rose periodically from the dissolving ground, carrying with it an acrid smell reminiscent of burning plastic.
It was a nose-wrinkling stench.
"There should be none left. Come down, Ah-Long."
After a thorough scan, TangYe was finally confident that there were no spectral zombies left. The ability to spew corrosive breath was an ability the Corpse Dragon gained only when it evolved to Level 6. If it had possessed this power back when they were in Jinhe City, perhaps Tang Ye could have flooded the whole temple.
The Corpse Dragon leisurely floated in the air for a moment before gradually descending to the ground. The moment Tang Ye jumped down, his flesh and skin started to squirm, quickly returning to his human form.
