Chapter 558: Chapter 555 Motorhome_1

"Hahaha! Serves you right! Let’s die together!"

"Dare to steal our car! The karma has come, hasn’t it? I want to see how you are going to escape!"

"Escape? Just go to hell!"

Without a means of transportation, the survivors had no chance of escape. Fear of death spread within them, breeding resentment towards those who might be able to escape.

They had already witnessed what those silver-armored zombies were like; they couldn’t be defeated, no matter how much you attacked. Even headshots wouldn’t take them down. Essentially, they were undying beings. How could they hope to survive if such creatures got to them?

Impossible!

As they watched the silver-armored zombies on the convoy, they felt a perverse pleasure. Such warped human nature meant they couldn’t bear to see anyone faring better than themselves. Since they were going to die anyway, why not drag a few others down with them?

Several survivors dropped their guns and gave up their resistance. All their minds could envisage were scenes of people on the car being torn apart by the silver-armored zombies.

Their screams attracted the Level 5 Silver Armored Zombie that Tang Ye had kicked away. Drawn by the noise, it immediately rose to its feet, roared angrily, and began devouring the screaming survivors.

Ironically, up until their final seconds, they were still staring at the speeding refitted truck. Even after they died, the zombie they had seen lying motionless on the roof of the truck, eyes fixed forward, did not show any intent to harm the people inside the vehicle.

In death, they did not witness the scene they had hoped for.

But speaking of it, it was indeed the most heinous act to deprive others of their means of survival! Regardless of the post-apocalyptic world or even before the apocalypse, many sought to maximize their interests, often at the expense of others. In such times, if you wanted to survive, you inevitably had to take away others’ chances of doing so. Even if you didn’t want to do such things, it didn’t mean that others wouldn’t sacrifice you for their own survival.

In short, you could live by denying others’ chances of survival, or you’d die so others can live.

Even saints might hesitate to make such decisions. In other words, anyone willing to make such a choice was stupid!

Humans were opportunistic creatures. Not all, but at least a majority of them, were. Why would you give up what you could have to others?

The refitted truck was driving unsteadily on the road, looking a bit wobbly. The reason was simple, Tang Ye was driving. Although he had learned some driving basics while at Qinshan, he was still a novice driver.

Moreover, because this vehicle came from Jinhe City, and due to the influence of the invisible zombies, he had had to spray black paint to fully cover the windows. Tang Ye couldn’t rely on his eyesight and had to drive while relying on the view provided by the silver-armored zombie on top of the truck. A task he, let alone anyone else, would readily accept.

In other words, Tang Ye could only rely on the zombie’s eyes to view the road ahead. Even though it provided some vision for him, since the view was higher than his normal perspective, he struggled to adapt.

Furthermore, from the silver-armored zombie’s point of view, the world didn’t possess the myriad colors visible to humans.

In fact, everything appeared in a yeallow-hued tint, like viewing the world through night-vision goggles—everything was either green or black.

With Tang Ye’s subpar driving skills, the truck sped away from the territory covered by the silver-armored zombie. Ahead, hordes of invisible zombies appeared. Unlike other cities, such as Lin City which was densely packed with zombies on every street, Jinhe City wasn’t as congested. Despite the large number of invisible zombies, they didn’t form zombie tidal waves as often as in Lin City.

"Damn it!" Tang Ye spat out the curse, his eyes widened at the sight of the countless number of invisible zombies front of him stretching out to the limits of his vision. The Gaochong Bridge on the other side of Jinhe City was still at least five or six kilometers away. Tang Ye wasn’t sure if this modified truck could plow through the hoard.

"There are many bald...invisible monsters ahead." Tang Ye usually referred to invisible zombies as ’Bald Ghosts’ because of their shiny, bald heads. But before he could finish his sentence, he became aware of something and stopped.

Though he could have continued, he feared that anything else he might say would arouse others’ suspicion. After all, everyone had heard the loud voice he had let out earlier. Besides, he didn’t know if anyone else referred to the invisible zombies as ’Bald Ghosts’ like he did.

What Tang Ye didn’t know was that by being so overly cautious, it only made him appear more suspicious. Qiongli ,sitting next to him, squinted at him for a bit but didn’t think too much of it.

After all, it was because he was rescuing her that he got entangled with an invisible zombie. How could he have survived till now without having seen the real form of an invisible zombie? It must be a coincidence, she concluded.

Meanwhile, Bai Xinran at the back was silently staring at the back of Tang Ye’s head, her face showing signs of confusion.

"The saw at the front of the vehicle should be able to be activated."

"You try it, I really have no idea which button to press. Don’t know if we can make it through like this..." Tang Ye looked around and saw that no one had any particularly septic expressions, which eased his worries.

Qiongli, riding shotgun, began trying out each button after having ruled out the basic drive controls of the truck.

"Is it this one?"

She randomly hit a button which caused a "clack" sound from the back. The back panel split in two, revealing a living area complete with a sofa, bed, TV, water dispenser. What was most shocking was the food, it was everywhere!

"Damn!"

The man who had rescued Qiongli was taken aback. He left his seat and walked in, revealing a surprise expression. Qiongli on the other hand continued pressing buttons until she hit a yellow one, after which Tang Ye said: "There, it’s on now."

"Really?"

"Hmm!"

The saw blades at the front of the truck formed an inverted "Z". It started to rotate slowly at first, then faster and faster until it was spinning rapidly, its loud groans permeating the cabin.

"Here we go!"

Tang Ye closed his eyes, concentrating his attention on the view provided by the silver-armored zombie as he stepped hard on the accelerator.

Squelch! Squelch! Squelch!

Bit by bit, chunks of invisible zombie bodies were scattered in the air. The spinning saw blades tore through the invisible zombies’ bodies. Even though the vehicle’s windows were completely covered by black paint, everyone was startled as they saw blobs of flesh periodically splattering against the windows.

From the view of the silver-armored zombie, the invisible zombies on the street were like debris swept up by the truck, then shredded by the series of spinning saw blades, scattering their remains all over the road.

At the same time, the invisible zombies noticed that the silver-armored zombie could see them and began leaping onto the roof of the vehicle to attack.
