I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1669 - 1663 The Food Snatcher
Chapter 1669: Chapter 1663 The Food Snatcher
He remembered the moment he became a "Tong", when many of his kind knelt before him, coronating him. At that time, he had killed another long-standing "Tong", and survived the onslaught of other "Tongs"! His name—Bone! It was then that it became a whispered word among his kind!
But in that world, "Tong" were not the rulers. They might be the rulers of small tribes in that world, but in larger tribes, there would never be only one "Tong"! In his place, "High Cliff", there were nearly forty "Tongs"!
In theory, under such circumstances, even though there were many "Tongs", they were almost akin to "rulers" as the top combat power, but this was not the case. "Tongs" might hold an absolute position, but they could lose their lives at any moment. They would suddenly turn into ashes, absorbed by the ground, or die when tentacles suddenly appeared and extracted the "stones" from their bodies.
"Tongs" were on guard for anomalies around them every moment!
Bone didn’t know the history of that world. The language they spoke was taught by a peer named Abeng, who taught every "Tong" word by word, phrase by phrase. This learning persisted until Bone learned the language.
Every word they knew was learned from the mouths of others, but there was an exception—a word called "feeding"!
This term came from a legend that they were actually being bred by an incredibly powerful entity in that world. To always have readily available energy, this entity bred them in that dark world where countless of their kind killed each other, leading to the birth of stronger beings. The "stones" in these beings’ bodies could be taken at any time by that entity when needed!
According to the sages, "feeding" was like how "Tongs" would raise "dragons", "Awakeners", and others at their homes to conveniently extract the stones from their bodies when needed!
This legend made them furious, and there were "Tongs" who gathered others to rebel against this entity’s "feeding", but all attempts ended in failure, and those rebellious "Tongs" had their stones taken by some unfamiliar but stronger "Tongs" than them!
In the last rebellion, Bone was fortunate enough to witness it. He was relieved not to have participated, seeing the "Tongs" he once fought with kneel and have their heads crushed one by one by a towering giant named "Tiger", who barbarically extracted the stones from their bodies!
Those "Tongs" who chose to rebel merely saw that entity’s "Tong", but not even a shadow of the entity itself!
In that world, the class hierarchy was extremely strict. Every word a stronger being said to a weaker one was followed without question, much like a program, where instructions given by someone’s actions were strictly executed!
There were no exceptions. Before this, he couldn’t even imagine a weaker being disobeying his orders!
He was genuinely puzzled, furrowing his brows tightly, unable to unclench them. He was stronger than those three strange creatures, but why did they not listen to him?
But soon, he seemed to realize something. The confusion on his face slowly disappeared, replaced by a smile, and he muttered, "This world... is fascinating."
When he was still in the original world, he had no concept of size. He only knew that in that world, it took him dozens of breaths to walk around once!
But now, he saw colors that didn’t exist in that world and things that were unfamiliar. Even the green patches and stripes on the streets fascinated him. Even though they appeared miserable due to being caught in battles, he found it hard to look away!
And the glaring orb in the sky, although its light made his body somewhat weak, he still liked its brilliance, simply because he had never seen anything like it! This world was so beautiful in his eyes, vast and boundless!
Also... he encountered more pleasant-smelling and better-looking... food!
The food he was once sick of eating was abundant in this world. While survival instincts led him to embrace new experiences, it was hard to abandon everything he’d seen. The environment had drastically changed, but his habits didn’t adapt. To continue living, he needed to stock up more because, in this "new world", he was not alone!
The cake may be huge, but if too many people desire it, it won’t be enough. He must get more before the "cake" is completely taken!
So, he didn’t chase those three individuals, merely shook his head as their figures disappeared from view. He whispered with slightly parted lips, "There should still be a lot here..."
After whispering, he glanced at the same tribe member standing across from him. That creature was furious, its originally crimson eyes turned even more blood-red, looking as if it desperately wished to devour him. The reason for this was because resources in that world were extremely scarce. "Tongs" had a massive demand for food, and the total of all life forms below "Tong" could only fully nourish a few "Tongs". Thus, most of the time, they lived with empty stomachs while the ground constantly drained energy from their bodies. When Abeng said they could feast freely outside, the target wasn’t their kind but those zombies of different colors!
Although they didn’t understand why, they discovered upon reaching the surface that there were many different beings besides those who, like them, were silver. Among them were those with a dark purple hue!
In conclusion, such an opportunity was so rare. Along the way, he saw others of his kind from that world gorging themselves. If they weren’t eating, then they were on the way to find food, never stopping for a moment. Additionally, in this place, the ground didn’t absorb energy from their bodies, allowing them to remain active in this "world" with a minimal amount of energy for a long time. However, despite this, those who had been severely drained in that world were still frantically storing energy, even when the copious active energy overflowed from their bodies!
The silver-armored corpse opposite hadn’t been out for long, and upon seeing so much freely enjoyable "food", naturally, it seized them first. But when others came to share, this instantly touched the entity’s bottom line!
Even Bone stood from this perspective, but now his role was that of a food snatcher.
