Chapter 438: 432, "Sugar" MV! (Third Update)_1

When Ren He picked up Liu Erbao, the equipment wasn’t with them; it had been shipped separately. Even though they could rent equipment at the location, Liu Erbao still felt that he was more accustomed to his own gear.

Abroad, no one was tailing them, and in fact, this time, no one even knew they had quietly left the country.

On the way, Ren He went over the schedule with Liu Erbao, who then realized he had come out much too early... It turned out there were still two months until the challenge would start.

However, Ren He also shared his brand-new plan with him: to shoot several music videos for Yang Xi within these two months.

All the music videos from Yang Xi’s last album were shot by Liu Erbao and received unanimous praise.

Before Yang Xi, all celebrities who had asked Liu Erbao to shoot their music videos were turned down. His reasoning was that the projects were too simple, lacked technical depth, and he refused to take them on.

There wasn’t a single music video made by him in the public eye; some even mocked him in private: shooting commercial films and music videos was, after all, different—entirely separate industries—so it was normal for Liu Erbao not to take on such projects.

But when Yang Xi’s music videos came out, it was obvious that their quality stood on a completely different level from those currently on the market, they were leagues above!

The visuals, plots, post-production, all met incredibly high standards; each music video felt like a blockbuster.

This was the confidence Liu Erbao had all along.

Now, when Ren He suddenly said he had an idea and wanted Liu Erbao to assist him in filming, anyone else might have been immediately rejected.

In the filming industry, Liu Erbao was always dominant, and having someone else directing was out of the question.

But Ren He was different. It could be said that several advertisement films about Knight were his own creative concepts. Honestly, Liu Erbao’s recognition of Ren He was not limited to songwriting, extreme sports, or starting businesses. When it came to filming creativity, it wasn’t about admiration or worship, but there was definitely approval and appreciation.

So, Ren He taking the director’s chair was fine by him.

However, Ren He disputed his statement, "Not directing, I’m not going to be a director. I’ll come up with the ideas, and we’ll have fun together!"

Liu Erbao liked what Ren He said: We’ll have fun together!

The focus was on the word "fun". He had long noticed a pattern—whether it was writing songs, extreme sports, or anything else, Ren He loved to describe it as "playing".

Playing with one’s life.

It sounded carefree, and from this idea of "playing", Liu Erbao could discern Ren He’s open-minded and carefree attitude. But after all, it was about life, and definitely not something Liu Erbao himself would play with in the same way.

Liu Erbao had long joked that Ren He was a Big Player. For others, times of struggle in life seemed like playtime for him, but it was not about being superficial. It was about being focused.

In the past few days, Yang Xi found out about Liu Erbao’s arrival, but due to her fame, it was inconvenient for her to meet with him. She had become too well-known in North America, and every day after leaving the Juilliard School of Music, she would encounter more than a dozen fans waiting for her autograph, and they would even ask her to convey greetings to Knight...

Yang Xi found it amusing and awkward. She now seemed to be tied to Knight, as if they were one entity.

But this feeling was a happy one for her. She could even say that she felt more joy when she heard others praise Knight than when they praised her.

She had an indescribable feeling. Occasionally, Yang Xi felt that signing autographs for fans was somewhat burdensome, since it happened every day like a routine task.

Yet, when people asked her to convey greetings to Knight, she found it endlessly enjoyable...

These past two days, Ren He suddenly disappeared after work, and Yang Xi had no idea where he went; it all seemed very secretive.

Could it be that he had another challenge he was keeping from her? It shouldn’t be the case; after Mount Everest, Ren He had promised that he would tell her about any challenges, and Yang Xi believed he would never break his word.

But if it wasn’t extreme sports, then what could it be related to? It was too mysterious, and whenever she asked Ren He, he just laughed and didn’t answer.

Yang Xi finally played her trump card, saying if Ren He told the truth, she would kiss him. In response, Ren He counter-offered, saying he would only tell after a kiss.

After some thought, Yang Xi decided knowing the answer was more important and kissed him first.

But after Yang Xi kissed him, Ren He just ran off without revealing the truth. Yang Xi was nearly livid; what a shameless jerk!

Ren He and Liu Erbao rented a small venue on the outskirts of New York for rehearsals. To be honest, Liu Erbao’s team met Ren He’s requirements quite well, as they were all music enthusiasts. With at least two drummers, guitarists, bassists, and keyboardists each, everyone played an instrument.

Ren He first auditioned their skills and picked the best group, then instructed them to practice the songs.

The remaining members followed Ren He’s arrangements to practice routines, and he sent out the one with the best English to gather information.

Liu Erbao, showing his teeth, asked, "Is it really okay to keep this from your sister-in-law? And... aren’t we playing too big? I’m afraid we’re going to get beaten up!"

"Haha," Ren He laughed, "whether or not you get beaten up depends on your eloquence. Anyway, if someone’s going to get hit, it’s not going to be me; I’m the behind-the-scenes director, and you’re the field director."

Liu Erbao felt a headache coming on, having never seen someone so shameless and direct at passing the buck. Whether one gets hit or not depends on his eloquence? What eloquence does he have!

"This idea of yours is brilliant, but controlling the situation on-site is not so easy," Liu Erbao said with an aching heart.

"No problem, we believe in you. When the time comes, you’ll be in charge of things like the on-site cameras and setting up the equipment. We trust you!" Ren He said with conviction.

That’s when Liu Erbao realized just how thick-skinned Ren He was; he took a deep breath and braced himself, "For the sake of a good shot, I’ll endure it!"

Honestly, he really thought Ren He’s idea was good; not only would the finished MV be spectacular, but the undertaking itself was quite interesting.

For Ren He, planning this MV shoot wasn’t just about doing something fun; he also wanted to give Yang Xi a surprise.

Ren He planned to recreate the MV for "Sugar" by Maroon 5 from his previous life!

He planned to cause a ruckus at various weddings in New York over the course of a week!

The original MV had become a global hit thanks to its unique storyline, but it was eventually revealed that all the people in the MV were actors, which meant the wedding disruptions were staged.

But Ren He wanted to make it real, even though this meant a greater difficulty, such as not being allowed to crash wedding venues so easily.

Yet Ren He wanted to do something different for Yang Xi!
