Chapter 960
The boy craned his neck, jumped a couple of times, quickly took his position, and got ready to receive the ball.
"Don’t cry later," he laughed.
The next second, the ball swooshed towards him, his smile froze, as he fumbled to block it.
Nonetheless, he lost a point.
He forced a smile, "I dropped the ball, didn’t focus. This time, I won’t let you do that again."
It was his turn to serve.
The ball sketched a beautiful arc in the air and sailed over to Chloe Collins.
Immediately, it was struck back.
The hit was hard but accurate, controlling the ball to stay within bounds while maximizing the speed on the opponent’s court.
The boy’s initial confidence was gradually eroded by her fierce onslaught, his steps became disarrayed, his strength poorly controlled.
The two buddies on the sidelines looked serious.
This was their first time being shown up by a girl.
"There’s a fiery strength in Chloe Collins’s shots, can you feel it?" one boy observed.
"Right, right, look at her eyes—ruthless and cold, like a female assassin. Oh no, our buddy is going to lose."
"It’s so embarrassing! Losing to a girl."
"He’s getting thrashed!"
As they spoke, the boy on the field tumbled to the ground in a failed attempt to receive the ball.
Chloe rested her racket on her shoulder, her eyes cold, "Next."
"N-n-next?" The two awaiting boys trembled.
The boy who had fallen got up and ran over, saying, "What are you waiting for, get in there, reclaim our honor!"
His words gave the others a sense of purpose.
"Let’s see how I conquer this little girl."
Saying this, the boy stepped onto the court.
However, within minutes, he was beaten even more badly than the last boy.
After all three had lost, Chloe said, "Come together."
The words frightened them, and holding their basketballs, they ran away.
So embarrassing!
Just then, a man picked up the racket off the ground.
He walked into the middle of the court, gave Chloe a slight smile, "I’ll play with you."
Chloe averted her gaze, her voice indifferent: "No need, I’m tired."
She rested the racket in the nearby cart, picked up her coat, and headed for the doorway.
Behind her, light footsteps approached, the man striding up to her.
He stood in front of her, looking down at her.
Chloe stared ahead, didn’t look at him, and walked around him.
He grabbed her shoulders, his voice soothing, "I’m sorry, I was wrong."
Chloe put on her coat, shrugged off his hand, looked into his eyes calmly, and remained silent.
Alexander Foster gently wiped the sweat off her face and couldn’t resist pinching her cheeks.
Although her face was thin and small, there was a cute plumpness to her cheeks.
"Don’t be angry anymore, alright?"
Chloe still looked at him silently.
A few seconds later, she shifted her gaze and walked ahead.
The next moment, the man pulled her back, reeling her into his embrace. A silent hug, as if expressing his deepest feelings.
One second, two seconds, three seconds...ten seconds.
In the quiet arena, there were only these two entwined figures.
Fearing that she would get angry, he didn’t hold the embrace too long and slowly let go of his arms.
"Hold me." The woman’s voice rang out.
He was taken aback.
Then he heard her voice beside his ear, "My heart condition is acting up."
Her face slowly drooped, resting on his shoulder, her eyes closed, like a kitten finding a comfy spot, peacefully closing her eyes to sleep.
