Chapter 1091

The man responded, reining in the bubbling desires in his heart, and after a few seconds, fetched a large snack box from his drawer and placed it on the table. "Come, sit here."

Chloe Collins tossed her bag aside and casually strolled towards him.

The chair was placed right beside Alexander Foster’s, right next to his own seat.

Chloe Collins glanced at it, took a seat casually, then turned to ask him, "Now what?"

Alex pulled out a comic book and handed it to her, "Just sit."

Chloe Collins: "That’s it?"

"Yep, that’s it." He replied looking at her with an amused smile.

Chloe Joked, "Eating and drinking, huh? Do you treat all your assistants in this company like this?"

"You are different from them." He slowly replied, "They are responsible for working wholeheartedly; you are responsible for calming my heart."

At this moment, a touch of shyness washed away the nonchalant look in the girl’s eyes.

He gave a wry smile, tearing open a packet of chips for her, "Eat a little, if you’re bored, you can read comics or watch movies."

She nodded but didn’t read the book. Instead, she sat by the seat, quietly watching him review the documents.

Most of these were classified company files.

Among them were Redolence’s planned projects for next quarter.

He certainly made no effort to hide these from her, his "arch-nemesis."

"Do you know what people outside are saying about the relationship between Redolence and LM?"

A warm smile crossed the corners of Alex’s mouth as he glanced at her, "What are they saying?"

"That they’re equally matched arch-nemeses," her gaze shifted towards his documents, "And here you are, going over project plans in front of your arch-nemesis. Is that appropriate?"

She laughed.

The man leaned in close enough for his forehead to almost touch hers, his voice low, "You’re the one I adore; you can look at whatever you want."

Chloe’s lips tightened, her heart raced uncontrollably. Back at the temple, her senior brothers would occasionally ridicule her for not behaving like a girl, instead acting like a young man. She agreed, but she was astonished to realize that there were times with Alex when she was undoubtedly a girl.

For instance, right now.

Alex raised his head, brushed her bangs with his finger, and asked, "Want coffee?"

She nodded compliantly, "I’ll go to the restroom."

The weather was naturally sultry and restless during summer, and it seemed to get even more so at that moment. Chloe took her time at the sink, repeatedly splashing her face with cold water to cool off her heated cheeks.

Five minutes later, she came out to find a glass of iced coffee placed at her desk. It was served in a transparent, pudgy cup, with dewdrops clinging densely on the cup wall.

A beam of soft sunshine, blunted by the floor-to-ceiling window, laid beside the cup, extending to the man’s wrist, where he wore a wristwatch. A tiny red thread beside the watch seemed out of place yet exceptionally heartwarming.

He seemed engrossed in his files, oblivious to her presence.

The girl turned her head and happened to find paper and pencil in the adjacent bookshelf area. She tiptoed over, took a seat, and with pencil and paper in hand, she studied the man silently, sketching and comparing. And once she got a preliminary idea, she put the first stroke onto the paper.

As time went by, the sunlight crawled up on the man’s back and side face, while the dew on the coffee glass trickled down the wall of the cup, forming a small puddle.

By now, a realistic sketch had vividly taken shape on the paper, as though it had been reproduced meticulously.

Chloe Collins sketched out the details, occasionally raising her head to look at him.

What she didn’t realize was that the man wasn’t concentrating on his files.
