Chapter 1066

The next day.

On a summer morning, a warm breeze gently brushed the dense maple leaves outside the window. A hand hung an octagonal small lantern on a tree branch. A piece of paper was attached to the lantern, with the words "Happy Birthday" written on it.

"Be careful up there, don’t climb so high," Wanda Wesley’s voice echoed from beneath the tree.

Robert Foster climbed even higher, hanging each lantern one after another.

He chuckled, "Don’t worry! This height doesn’t scare me!"

As if to deliberately mock him, the branch beneath his feet creaked before he even finished speaking. Next, he lost his footing and fell from the tree!

Leaves rustled and fell with him, and in the next moment, he landed in a pair of small yet strong arms of Wanda.

Wanda looked at him, saying, "See, I told you so."

Robert immediately got out of her arms, stood up straight, scratched his head, and his cheeks turned slightly red.

"Next time something like this happens, just let me fall, Wandy."

Wanda blinked, saying, "Not possible."

Robert found it hard to accept that he, as tall as her neck, had just been saved by a small girl.

After all, he was a man. He wanted to protect women, not be protected by them.

Thinking about this, he turned and climbed the tree again: "This time, if I fall, don’t catch me. Move away a bit, or the falling leaves will land on you."

A puzzled expression appeared on Wanda’s face.

She looked at her own hands.

Then she realized that her actions earlier might have hurt his male pride.

She gave a slight smile, then took a big step back.

This time, Robert made no mistakes, he hung all the lanterns successfully and directly jumped down from the tree.

He turned back and looked at the towering tree, lamenting, "Chloe’s birthday party is like celebrating New Year, did you see my mom’s decorations? It’s all red, inside and out, but we’re just having a party."

Wanda took out some red envelopes from her pocket, "Aunt gave me these red envelopes."

Robert raised his lip, "She treats you like a daughter-in-law. Look, these red envelopes are meant for weddings."

Wanda looked downward, the corners of her mouth faintly turned up in contentment.

Only then did Robert realize what he had just said, and his neck turned slightly red.

He had been in a relationship with Wanda for less than a month, and their interactions were still quite delicate.

It was the same, yet different as before, still not at a stage of full intimacy.

Other couples would naturally hold hands, embrace, even kiss. But they, at most, would brush arms while walking, meet once a day, and then play video games together.

Apart from that, they hadn’t even held hands since they started dating.

At that moment, Robert wanted more.

While walking in silence, he slowly reached out his hand to Wanda’s, retreated slightly when they were about to touch.

He took a deep breath.

Robert, be a man!

With that thought, a rush of courage filled his chest. His fingers reached out again, this time without retracting.

"Robert."

A voice echoed from the second floor, and Robert’s hand withdrew again.

Wanda seemed to have not noticed his small movement, and turned her head towards the second floor alongside him.

Alexander Foster stood on the second-floor balcony, his white monk-like robe lightly fluttering in the wind, his face as handsome as jade, his stature like an immortal, his silhouette like a painting. Despite the pleasing scene, Robert felt an impulse to beat someone.

He forced out a smile," Brother, what’s up?"
