Chapter 1047
"Someone! Someone!"
The panicked call attracted the maids who were standing outside.
"Madam, what’s wrong?"
Madam: "Who just came in?"
The maid thought for a moment and said, "It was Miss Collins."
The madam’s pupils constricted and her body slackened. "So it was her..."
"Madam, are you alright? Shall I call a doctor?"
With a feeble wave of her hand, the madam said, "No need, just go."
"Let me clean this up."
"Go!"
The maid trembled and promptly exited.
The madam leaned heavily on the corner of the bedside table, taking a while to steady her breathing. She then bent down and collected the scattered letters.
Each letter she picked up triggered memories of past events.
Her eldest daughter had led the team into the company and gradually expanded it.
At its peak, she gave the position of Chairman, promised to her eldest daughter, to her son.
Moreover, she did this behind her daughter’s back.
When her eldest daughter found out, she was furious and vowed to cut off ties with her.
In a fit of rage, the madam disowned her eldest daughter.
Later, when the Taylors faced a crisis, she asked her eldest daughter for help, but was ruthlessly rejected.
Even later, she found out that the Nolan son was interested in her second daughter. Yet, her second daughter was not interested in him. Viewing the Nolans, who owned a public listed company, as a wealthy family, she had a private arrangement with the Nolan son to marry her second daughter off to their family.
To ensure everything went smoothly, she personally gave her second daughter a cup of juice spiked with a potent drug, allowing an outsider to ruin her daughter completely.
Eventually, her second daughter married into the Nolans, the Taylors endured the crisis, but they were severely damaged and never returned to their former glory.
During that time, the madam was furious and wrote many harsh letters to her unfilial eldest daughter.
These letters were written before everything ended, the others weren’t here.
Coming back from her reminiscence, the old Madam was filled with trepidation.
The words in those letters, written when she was impulsive and furious, now were taboo to her, untouchable wounds filled with blood, they couldn’t be seen, let alone touched!
She did not expect that these words would come back to haunt her after so many years.
In fact, she was very clear about whether what she did back then was right or wrong.
But she purposefully favored her son. After all, a son remains by one’s side, daughters will eventually get married and belong to another family, no matter how capable.
Although she knew what she had done was a bit excessive, she never thought it was wrong. As a mother, she couldn’t equally distribute her love, so she poured all of it onto her son, at least he would take care of her in her old age.
However, she’d occasionally remember the furious expressions on her daughters’ faces. Those memories didn’t make her regret, but they did scare her.
Especially Joy Taylor, someone who has already passed away.
She didn’t ordinarily want to think about her eldest daughter. Each time she did, she would have nightmares that night. In her dreams, she’d see her daughter, covered in blood, walking towards her, asking her why she was partial.
Every time she had such a nightmare, she felt as if she was shaving off years of her life.
"This young lady... She knew about these things all along..."
The old Madam crumpled up a letter and ripped it to pieces.
"You want to upset me, little girl, but you’ve underestimated me!"
She tore up all the letters and threw them into the trash bin, then spat into it.
