Chapter 1043
As she finished speaking, she began walking towards the doorway.
Master’s courtyard was quite a far walk from here, about ten minutes away.
This side was relatively quiet, permeated with a peaceful and health-conscious atmosphere.
A man emerged from the courtyard, Master’s personal butler. Upon seeing her, a slight surprise flashed in his eyes.
"Miss Collins, what a coincidence, the Master was just asking me to find you."
Chloe Collins had a feeling, Tristan’s recent visit here was undoubtedly about her.
If her guess was correct, the matter at hand should be about her physical condition.
Ever since she found out that Rosalind Taylor had some knowledge about her health, she knew this day would come.
Taking a slight breath, she stepped inside.
It was currently summer, and the pond in Master’s courtyard was overrun with blooming lotus flowers, vibrant with life.
The old man was standing alone by the pond’s edge, straining to pluck a yet unfolded lotus bud. It seemed difficult for him.
Suddenly, his body tilted, seemingly about to fall into the pond...
His nose almost touched the water’s surface when he suddenly felt a gust of wind sweep by from behind. His arm was caught, and in a flash he was pulled back onto the shore.
All of this ended in the blink of an eye.
Once the Master had steadied himself, he looked at the young lady before him. Her palm held the freshly plucked lotus flower, her expression calm.
"Grandpa, playing with water is dangerous."
The surprise in Master’s eyes disappeared, replaced with a hearty laughter as he took the lotus flower from her.
"You child, when did you get here?"
He couldn’t help but glance back at the doorway where only the shocked butler stood. The young lady had been standing there just moments earlier.
This speed, it wasn’t common!
Chloe Collins said: "I heard you were looking for me?"
"Ah, yes, come sit with me."
Chloe Collins followed him into a small building by the pond, a round mahogany table sat in the middle, laden with refreshments.
The Master placed all the dishes in front of her, saying, "Eat more."
He placed the lotus flower to the side and asked, "How are your exams going?"
"Hmm, they’re going fine."
"Grandpa believes in your abilities, you’ll definitely get into Capitol University."
Chloe Collins looked at the Master, his eyes filled with disbelief. As if trying to confirm something, he studied her.
"Young lady, you... and your mother..."
Chloe Collins looked at him calmly, not interrupting, quietly listening to him speak.
This attitude made the Master hesitate for a while.
"Grandpa, if you have something to say, don’t hesitate."
The Master sighed. After some thought he finally spoke, "Your father came to see me earlier. He mentioned some things about you."
"Hmm."
"He said that you..."
Just when he was about to say it, the Master suddenly choked up and, looking nervous, took a sip of water from the cup.
He appeared as though he was the one being interrogated.
Chloe Collins didn’t rush him; instead, she waited patiently.
Raising his gaze, as though finally having made a decision, he asked her, "Do you hate us?"
"Hmm?"
The Master sighed: "Actually, I was completely unaware of this matter. I know my daughter has a strong and stubborn character, but I never thought she would do something like this."
"You’ve always rejected Alex’s advances. I suppose it’s for this matter, right?"
Chloe Collins’ mind swirled with confusion.
After about ten seconds, she sorted it out.
Tristan knew about the events of that year!
Not only did he know that her health was bad, but he also knew why her health was bad.
