Chapter 94: Chocolates.

"I thought you left already," Nicklaus murmured seeing who just walked into his office.

"Amber called me earlier that you canceled all of your meetings," Geal asserted as he walked further into the office.

Nicklaus took his hand off his suit pant before folding both of his arms across his chest, "I guess she also added I want to see no one?"

In his state now, Geal is the last person he wants to see.

Geal frowned.

"Amber knows me well. I’m not some business partner, I left my company down here all because you are sulking. Don’t you think you should be grateful,"

Nicklaus rolled his eyes.

Taking off his suit jacket, Geal dumped it on the couch he was seated on. Releasing himself from the stress of his necktie, he opened two of his shirt buttons, making him look more homely and approachable - different from the moody friend that looked like he would burn you ten feet away from him.

"You both had another fight?" Geal noted and Nicklaus could not help but glare at him.

Taking his arms off his chest, "Are you stalking my married life?" Nicklaus questioned and Geal just shrugged his shoulders.

"I only told Amber to make sure she let me know about the expression on my pretty damsel’s face as she leaves. She wasn’t happy when she came in and I expected you to lighten up her emotions and rather than that, what did you do? You worsened it so, it’s only natural I’d want to know why she was annoyed,"

"She isn’t entitled to you," Nicklaus growled at Geal with a burning glare. He was beginning to get affected and annoyed with Geal’s irrelevant care toward his wife. Do they perhaps know each other before this moment?

Raising both of his hands towards the air in a dramatic surrendering manner, he tried to clear the thick air between them.

"I never said she was entitled to me and _," Geal scoffed, dropping both hands back to his side, he continued, "Why are you so furious with my questions? I meant no harm, I only wanted to know why she was mad at you, and who knows, I might be of help,"

Starting intensely at Geal, Nicklaus turned away from him. Facing his French window, he continued sulking, "Apparently yes, we had another argument. Despite all of my efforts, she still doesn’t seem happy with me. She doesn’t want to be with me," Nicklaus opened up. There was pain lingering around his voice but his signature cold tune and nonchalant expression did well to hide his hurt.

Geal stood up from the couch and went into Nicklaus’s office bedroom. Coming back, he held a bottle of red wine and two wine glasses.

"What’s this for?" Nicklaus questioned.

Geal said nothing but just placed the wine on the mini glass table before pouring reasonable quantities into the glasses.

Moving over to Nicklaus, he passed a glass over to him, "I think you have to relax so we can talk properly," Geal suggested and without waiting for Nicklaus’s reply, he gulped half of his glass content down.

"I don’t need this," Nicklaus rejected the wine. Walking over to his desk, he dropped the glass of wine on the edge of his desk before seating on his seat, "You are not my therapist. Just go back to your office before I tag you as a snitch,"

"Seriously?"

Nicklaus raised his face at him, "Yes. I can handle her myself," he bragged.

Geal chuckled as if mocking Nicklaus’s words,

"Really? From what I could remember, I have good records with women. Unlike you who discard them weekly, I spend approximately a month with mine so in this case, I have an upper hand," Geal bragged shamelessly.

He paused and took a seat before Nicklaus, "Unless you don’t want her to be happy with you, you can decide not to listen to me," Geal added.

"Why are you so worried about my marriage?" Nicklaus wondered as he sat up on his seat and gave Geal a soul-searching glare.

Geal chuckled again and nodded his head in amusement, "Your marriage? Whose worried about your married?" he took another sip from his glass, "I’m only worried about my pretty damsel. I want her to be happy and since you are with her, I can only do that through you," Geal claimed.

"Stop calling her your pretty damsel," Nicklaus hissed with warning dripping off his tune. Each time Geal calls Arissa with that title, an uncomfortable sensation usually wash over him, and if it wasn’t Geal, he wasn’t sure that person would have teeth left while leaving his sight.

"I don’t think I can," Geal blurted out and Nicklaus clenched his fists unknowingly - an act Geal caught.

"Are you going to help me resolve my issue with her or not?" Nicklaus snapped. He might do something reckless anytime soon because Geal hardly heads to warnings and with Geal hear, he would not have rest so why don’t they go straight to the point and save themselves some time?

Geal stretched his hand towards the wine he poured out for Nicklaus and when Nicklaus did not stop him, he gulped the tasty wine before asking the sullen figure before him.

"What happened?"

Nicklaus spaced out for a moment. Her reason for being so mad hurt his ego. How could she be so mad just because he rejected her proposal for them to have an open relationship?

’She does like anyone?’ he was convinced.

Nicklaus pondered for a while. Telling Geal the whole truth would only hurt his ego ten times more and his pain-in-the-ass friend would surely laugh with no remedy.

So to save himself from that trouble, he kept his reply short and only on the surface, "She’s mad I had my guards follow her around. I don’t think she would come around anytime soon,"

"Get her chocolates," Geal advised.

"Chocolates?" Nicklaus asked, caught off guard. Did Geal even think before replying?

He doesn’t know what he expected Geal to suggest but he also never thought Geal would suggest he get chocolates for Arissa. It sounded a bit silly and he could almost imagine Arissa’s expression if he present chocolates to her as a peace offering.

Nicklaus frowned at the sudden suggestion, "Why? We aren’t some silly teenagers," he objected rudely

Geal rolled his eye. Picking a rouge file from the table, wrapping it, he threw it on Nicklaus’s head.

"What was that for?" Nicklaus asked as he glanced at where the paper ball had fallen. Geal just wouldn’t grow up.

Up until this age, he still throws paper balls at his opponent. How mature of him!

"Chocolates ain’t just for dates, smart-ass," there was deep sarcasm in Geal’s tune, "They also help for happy feelings, and besides, women love it,"

Nicklaus raised his brows in thought and after a while, he spoke up, "Arissa doesn’t look like someone who would love chocolates," he said and Geal smiled.

’At least that is some progress. He can already guess what she might like and might not,’ Geal thought.

"That’s the thing," Geal pointed out as he poured himself another drink, "Get her what you think she might appreciate or you try the chocolate method first,"

"I do_"

"Do you like her?" Geal asked, cutting Nicklaus off.

"The fuck, why would I?" Nicklaus rejected the idea breathlessly. "I don’t like women,"

"Then, you’re gay," Geal concluded with a chuckle and Nicklaus’s face immediately turned ugly with disgust.

Taking a deep breath, he cleared his darkened emotions, "You know that wasn’t what I meant," Nicklaus corrected standing up from his seat.

He can’t believe he was just called gay. Geal’s brain genuinely needs some fixing. The guy was such an ass that Nicklaus began to pounder on how he had survived him all these years.

"And I know this would be hard but...." Geal paused.

Nicklaus turned at Geal sudden pause, "But what?" he asked impatiently.

Geal sighed, "I guess you should be less domineering around her. She isn’t one of your employees or business partners," Geal met Nicklaus eyes, "She might come around when you do these things,"
