His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 85: She wasn’t fond of birds.
Chapter 85: She wasn’t fond of birds.
"Why am I here?" Arissa spat out with venom on the tip of her tongue. Nicklaus chuckled silently when he heard the way she sounded - like she would kill him anytime soon.
Sparing her a glance and as if he did not hear her, he asked, "How is your arm?"
"I said why am I here?" Arissa asked again.
Nicklaus turned to her fully. She strongly needs to learn how to tame that tongue of hers. Maybe, if she uses the tune she usually uses while talking to that doctor of hers, he would answer her.
He did not sleep a wink last night and now, he still has important things to do. So, either she recovers her memory or she talks to him softly when he comes out from his closet.
Turning away from her, he faced the direction of his closet. Arissa’s eyes widened when she saw he would certainly ignore her if she doesn’t answer his question. She was scared of what might have happened last night but her anger towards him was more.
Whatever happened last night, her room was next door so, there was no good reason why she slept in his room, and again, her wound had magically been dressed and her shirt from last night was changed, all without her permission.
She felt cringed at the thought that he saw her body but what bothered her the most was he seemed sexually attracted to her and with all these nude paintings around, she was sure he do have self-pleasure and the fact he changed her for no reason, could....could he had used her to pleasure himself.
But....but, he doesn’t look like one who would do that, Arissa thought. But at the same time, why can’t she remember anything?
She felt like she would go mad in the next second if her questions are left hanging.
"Klau_"
"Don’t you dare," Nicklaus cut her off warningly and turned fully towards her. Seem he had given her excessive privileges.
"Let this be the last time you would spit that name off your mouth," Nicklaus warned and from his tune, one should know that he wasn’t bluffing and without waiting for her reply - or Arissa was too stunned to say a word, he turned away and walked into his closet.
The time he used in addressing her and the warning he gave to her came as a shock to her. Biting her lower lip inner gum, she just sat dejectedly on the bed.
Her eyes moved over to the door but it was out of option. She can’t walk out of the room unless she knows his pin or has his door card. Having none, she has to wait for him.
Swallowing painful salivas, she sat still waiting for him to walk out of his closet door but at the same time, she relaxed a little and looked around the room.
The scent of the shirt she was on calmed her. Whereas, she’s safe and in her husband’s room meaning she wasn’t kidnapped.
Realizing she had just addressed him as her husband, Arissa could not help but curse, "That bastard,"
Her eyes shifted to the glassy built-in fireplace in his room. Taking the medium of the time she has, she looked around his room.
His room was madly manly with masculine colors. Lavishly spacious and insanely masculine, she could not help but feel his overbearing and overpowering nature from the design of his room.
The bedroom was mixed with colors like burnt red, army green, and brown colors in one place or the other but most things were gold.
From the varieties of golden things in his room, his dark gold bed lining, gold ceiling, and gold lampstands, she guessed gold might be his favorite color because even the parlor had a good share of gold furniture.
The Japanese modernist twist in the room was mad cool and the dark cloud artwork across the bed was also fairly stunning.
Turning to her side, an enigmatic balcony stood majestically off the bedroom with an outdoor candle fireplace attached to it. A birdcage was hanging in a corner and she swallowed when she saw two white birds in the bird cage and the birds were also staring directly at her. She has never been fond of birds so not wasting her time staring at them, she looked away and her eyes met with a glass classic reading table with two books on it and a coffee table just at the table side with a chair and a dark gray couch at the other end of the balcony, facing the bird cage.
The dark purple fluffy faux fur snuggly rug that was on the floor was so soothing that Arissa could not help but draw in a breath at how interesting everything about him was, down to his design ideas.
’The rug is so ripped for cuddling,’ she thought, surprising herself.
She fixed her eyes back on his closet door but it seems like he was yet to come out from that door. She rolled her eyes still trying to figure out how she ended up in his room. Pulling her knee to her chest, she unintentionally mistreated her arm and it immediately hurt her badly. Tiling her head to her arm, she slipped the neck of the shirt off her shoulder. She bit her lips when she saw a small red spot on it.
It was beginning to bleed again.
Taking a deep breath, she shut her eyes. It was beginning to hurt badly again and as if from a distant memory, she remembered a blurred image of herself speaking about taking alcohol last night.
Opening her eyes, she rubbed her arm to stop or calm the pain. She was so engrossed in pain that, all of her attention was on what she was doing that she did not realize Nicklaus was already out of his walk-in closet.
Seeing the discomfort that was plastered on her face, he followed her line of sight and saw the new condition of her arm. He looked at his wristwatch, it was 6 am already, and his doctor wasn’t still there.
Tossing his tie towards his vanity table, the tie missed and ended up on the floor. Walking towards her, he immediately sat on the bed.
Arissa’s eyes let her arm when she noticed his presence the moment he sat down and without waiting for her permission, he touched the bandage and the red spot.
Swallowing on not knowing how to comfort her, he looked up at her, "Does it still hurt?" he managed to ask.
