His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 66: Enchantress.
Chapter 66: Enchantress.
Logan’s eyes followed Arissa the moment she stood up. He chuckled seeing her figure and slender beauty and he immediately worshiped her.
That ugly-hearted bastard gave birth to such a beauty!
He used every self-control in him to stop himself from standing up and walking out with her. She’s an enchantress.
Collins’s hand gripped the mini black bag he placed the flower in. He would look ridiculous bringing red roses to an event like this without a date.
He turned over to Nicklaus and saw him and the lady in some memorial starting contest but, that wasn’t his business. Seems he knows that lady and this was his opportunity to step out with Arissa without an obstruction.
Controlling his excited self, he waited for her to walk out first since he doesn’t want some media assumption. When he glanced at his wristwatch and it was exactly ten minutes since she left the hall, he followed her out.
The wind was so chilly that Arissa could not help but use her both arms in rubbing herself. Taking in a deep breath, she walked over to the darkest and most quiet part of the balcony.
A lot had happened tonight and she has also, let out a lot of feelings so the wind was helpful as it took her mind off wandering thoughts.
Nicklaus seems supportive and she was torn between yearning to be honest with him or keeping everything away while he finds out himself.
The wind blew her hair off her neck and she could not help but smile. The tranquility that comes from this dark balcony and chilling winds was unbeatable. For a while, she forgot everything.
"Arissa,"
"Collins," she called in surprise as she whirled around to face him. She thought no one would follow her down or, was it just a coincidence?
"This place is so different from the inside," Collins hinted, talking about the calmness of the place as he moved towards Arissa.
Arissa thinned her lips in the form of a smile as a reply. "Why are you here?" she asked as she took her hand off the guardrail and sat on the couch provided there.
Collins was a bit nervous about the confession journey he wants to embark on and her new warmness was highly inviting, and also repellent.
Collins bit his inner lips to provide a reply without saying the truth, "I was hot inside," he joked awkwardly.
Arissa raised her brows with a little frown. The inside temperature was so calm but she came out to give Nicklaus and Blonde Barbie some space and again, Logan stare at her stuffing.
"Oh! Okay. I meant, why did you attend the event?" Arissa asked again calmly since Collins did not understand the question at first.
"Your father invited me," he disclosed almost cursing himself for almost looking stupid just now.
Collins sat on the couch beside her and Arissa looked at the small space between them and let out a glowing smile, she tried to relax but she wasn’t able to. She felt crowded just with his presence.
So, she stood up from the couch and walked over to the guardrail again and Collins could not help but feel dejected.
Taking a deep breath, he decided to start up the conversation and immediately, information about Adele presented itself, and yes! - that was an excellent start since she now seems uncomfortable around him.
"I saw a lady and her husband. They sat a table from me," he started. Arissa turned to him. She do not understand where he was going, but she gave him a listening look.
From her encouraging expression, he continued, "The lady was in a white flowing dress, and her resemblance to Adele was striking," he dropped the information cautiously, knowing how sensitive Arissa was concerning Adele’s business.
Arissa frowned and turned to Collins, "What do you mean?"
Collins stood up from the couch and joined her on the guardrail. He was sure of what he was saying. He spent a lot of time watching the lady and the resemblance was without mistake.
"I’m sure about that."
Collins claimed and Arissa’s frown increased. Could that be Adele’s real parents or relatives? She turned to Collins, "Let me make a call. We can’t just barge into there for confrontation," and with that, she took her phone from her purse.
Collins turned anxious. He never expected her to take action now and he almost regretted bringing that matter up without giving her the roses first.
But he should have known all these while that she does not joke about Adele’s cases.
Arissa pressed the send button and the call was answered in minutes, "I want you to help me with the information about a particular couple,"
"What’s their name or anything?"
"I have no idea, but they are inside the hall right now." Turning over to Collins, she whispered, "What’s their seat number?"
"Number 56," Collins whispered back, hiding his bleeding heart. He tried to calm down but he wasn’t able to.
Not sparing him another breath, she conveyed the information, "Seat 56. You have all the time to gather information but please, try saving my time,"
"Okay," the other end agreed, and remembering something, he asked, "Have you spoken to Logan already?"
"He’s a bit of a headache. I haven’t met with him and I don’t think I would any longer," the guy was too creepy and looked more like a serial killer.
"Hmm, okay," and with the reply, they ended the call.
Turning to Collins, "Thanks for the information," she thanked him and that was it. Collins wanted more than this cordial friendship.
He understood his feeling are not necessary for now but he can’t help it.
"You know, I thought you were pregnant," Collins blurred out when his eyes met with her tiny stomach. Her stomach must still be tiny because this was her first month.
Arissa turned to him shocked. Pregnant?
It sounded amusing and irritating but mostly amusing and she could not help but let out a laugh. She held her stomach and looked at it as if trying to see for herself, "Pregnant?" she asked in a round of laughter.
Collins let out an awkward confused chuckle as he nodded.
His heart left his rib cage with her laughter over his words. Was she already pregnant or she was so happy with Nicklaus that she would accept an early pregnancy?
Arissa shakes her head in disbelief. How would he think such?
"You are not pregnant?" Collins asked in anticipation as his heart was left hanging, waiting for a response.
Arissa stopped laughing. And taking a lung full breath, she started at Collins, "I’m not pregnant," she confirmed.
This was supposed to make Collins feel okay but it did not. She might be unaware if even, she was pregnant so he decided to go deeper, "You complained of morning fever the last time we meet."
Arissa hasn’t laughed in this manner for a while now and ending the laughter, she felt relieved, "That was nothing. I only felt unwell and Nicklaus was just exaggerating,"
Her reply made Collins’s heart drop. There she goes again. Nicklaus was involved in a discussion as little as this.
"So, does that mean you both haven’t had sex?" he knew he sounded so shameless but he waved it off. Being a doctor for years made him able to use terms like this without slight embarrassment.
Arissa’s jaw dropped at his bluntness and then she smiled again, waving off his audacity on asking her such a private question. Turning to him, "I just said_"
And she was cut off with her response by when she had never imagined would happen. But, it all happened so fast.
Cutting her off from her speech, Collins pressed his lips on her lips.
