Chapter 65: Blonde barbie.

Nicklaus’s gaze on her was unflinching, with amusement.

He was trying to read her emotions but it seems like she had shut them all away, maybe with annoyance at what just happened between them. He knew she felt his gaze on her but still, she was too stubborn to turn to him.

And finally, after minutes of studying her expression, he saw her eyes sparkle. He tore his eyes off her and followed her line of sight that led him to the stage.

With a furrowed brow, he studied what was displayed. They were displaying an ice bracelet of 14k yellow gold and 4.60ctw of diamonds. It was made of solid yellow gold and was an extraordinary classic one.

The bracelet was beautiful. For the two encounters he has had with her on the bracelet, he noticed she valued them a lot. First was with Geal’s bracelet gift and now with this.

"You love the bracelet?" Nicklaus came closer to her and whispered.

Arissa stilled. When did they skyrocket to this level of relationship, where he soth her opinion on something?

"Arissa, do you like it?" he asked again, and when she turned to him with a glare, his lips curled upward. She was more than entertainment.

He had noticed her eyes on it for a moment longer, unlike the others she just spared a glance.

Arissa hesitated for a minute biting her lips at the amount of money being offered for just a bracelet. The last bid was 75,500 dollars.

That was a whole hell lot of money. And then, there was a countdown, waiting for another higher buyer.

Her anger was still there. He felt it and sickeningly, this was the first time he cares about someone’s anger toward him.

The countdown was down to 3...2... and then, he intervened. Raising his paddle, he made a whopping bid of, "150,000 dollars."

The whole hall gasped. Just when they thought he would not participate, he just did and now, he took them by storm.

The MC of the event smiled at the well-increased amount. The bracelet started with 14,500 dollars but now, they we’re in a hundred fifty biddings.

He was already and fully ready to pass the bracelet over to Mr. Wyatt since he believes no one would like to beat that amount just for a bracelet. But he was wrong because, the next second someone raised his paddle, "258,000 dollars," the new person challenged.

Turning their head over to who just mentioned such an amount, they could not but relax on their chair to watch an intriguing show. If memory serves right, this new competitor has never been seen in the business world or was he perhaps low-key?

Vincent turned his eyes to his boss and Logan turned his eyes to Arissa. More like he was starting at Nicklaus.

Nicklaus’s jaw clenched as he got the message from Logan when he caught Logan’s eyes on Arissa. Arissa turned her face to Logan immediately and met his eyes, her face scrunched up with irritation at how he kept on staring at her.

"300,000 dollars," another older businessman from inside the crowd bid, and Alfred who was backstage grinned. He was wise with the idea of inviting Nicklaus over.

"350,000 dollars," Logan topped up his bid with a frown that they got another competitor. He only wants to face Nicklaus.

"576,000 dollars," Nicklaus raised his paddle again, going far away from Logan’s bid. And now, Arissa gasped along with the hall.

She looked at Nicklaus. Knowing how simple Mrs Wyatt was, she do not think the woman would like the fact he spent such amounts of money just on a bracelet for her.

Arissa haves a sigh of relief when the countdown was at four. At least, Nicklaus does not need to go higher than his current amount.

"801,000 dollars," Logan suddenly declared, cutting her off her thoughts and the hall cheered him up with warmness from all angles.

And then the hall turned quiet. The hall suddenly turned sticky with a bit of hate and everyone felt the strange air around these two men like they were enemies.

Nicklaus doesn’t know why, but he just hated Logan from first sight, and with the way, he stared at Arissa.

Arissa turned to Nicklaus and saw him staring at Logan with his piercing arrow eyes. The tension was much and Arissa beside Nicklaus felt like she was suffocating. Why would just a bracelet cause feelings like this?

"Nicklaus, it’s enough," Arissa whispered to Nicklaus, "You can get Mrs. Wyatt something else," she suggested. The money was too much for just a bracelet.

Nicklaus almost snapped at her hearing her. He was getting the bracelet for her and not his mother and, what’s with the "enough" stuff? He doesn’t back down from his goals and tonight, he has only one goal and that was to get her the bracelet and any other display she would like.

Nicklaus spared her a glance and not letting her know he was about to get mad at her again, he raised his paddle, "10 million dollars," he bid and Arissa’s jaw dropped as her heart beat loudly.

A nonchalant smirk was plastered on his lips as if he would waste no time throwing the money on Logan’s face.

There were gasped smiles from behind and an encouraging smile from the MC of the event. He loves this and now, he understands the anecdote of the Wyatts. They ever give up and if you ask him, that’s a good policy.

The whole hall turned to Logan with anticipation but with a sharp "see you again" last glare at Nicklaus, Logan turned back to the stage, and when the count was down to zero, the whole hall clapped on Nicklaus on his generosity.

The MC permitted a short break until they arrange the other items on stage. This second section was the best so far and the third would be the last with more luxurious objects on display and everyone had smiles on their faces with anticipation.

Arissa turned to Nicklaus. The place just got busy with the break as people socialized with each other either on friendship or more power and allies.

"Why did you buy it?" she almost yelled at him. She only came to know who Logan was in person and did not add more money to the pocket of her greedy parents.

Nicklaus turned to her, "You wanted it," he answered simply.

Arissa paused.

million, she thought. She knows a whole lot of things she would do with such an amount of money and the asshoe before her just discarded that amount like he was discarding rough sheets.

Fuck! Was that why he bought the bracelet?

Yes, she liked the bracelet and maybe, want it - a tiny bit of her wants the bracelet but that was so much money on just a bracelet.

How would he!

She held his gaze tongue-tied. He was a whole different person tonight and strangely, she felt relaxed with him.

"Excuse me!" Arissa paused again and took her eyes away from Nicklaus and to the person who just announced her presence. Her voice, demanding.

Nicklaus also turned and his eyes almost dropped with who was before him. Raquel?

And then he waited. He waited for his heart to beat seeing her but no - he felt nothing rather, all the tiny pieces of joy he felt alone with Arissa vanished at Raquel’s presence.

Arissa looked at the lady and back to Nicklaus. She saw some familiarity in his eyes when he turned to the blonde Barbie.

And then she stood up from her seat and out of the table. History seems to be involved between the both of them so, she has to excuse them.

Seeing him at the club that day and with the style of his art and wine walls, sexy hot look, and wealth, she need not be told that he has lots of women around him and when they get home today, she would let him know she would not be able to let him have free rides around.

Nicklaus frowned when she stood up. Where was she going?

"I need some air," Arissa spoke up as if reading his thought. She turned to the blonde Barbie with a calm facade but her eyes held warning and possession.

The blonde Barbie read the message in Arissa’s eyes so well and that was all thanks to her woman instinct. She stylishly rolled her eyes at Arissa and turned to Nicklaus.

Nicklaus stood up, "I would also need some air,"

Arissa frowned at him and then he backed down understanding the fact she wants to be away from him.

"I would wait for you in here," Nicklaus finally agreed to let her go. He has been acting strange tonight and maybe, a few spaces away from her might help his situation.

Arissa passed one more message to the blonde with her eyes before walking away from their table and straight to the backdoor. So that she can avoid the paparazzi.
