Chapter 45: [BONUS Chapter] Never cry alone.
The chilling wind that sent everyone back into their houses did nothing to the lady in white nightwear as she just stood there staring at the sky, counting the stars with tears.
For the past twenty-eight years, this had turned into her mid-morning ritual ever since she lost her daughter.
The balcony door slid open from the inside and she turned to face the person with a pretentious smile on her lips, "I never knew you were back,"
"You are crying again," the man said. It wasn’t a question but a certain speech.
"No, I wasn’t," the lady lied smoothly. The balcony is dimmed with only light from the sky perching on it so, she isn’t scared of lying because he can’t see her face.
"Don’t lie to me, Beatrice!" the man scolded calmly, and before Beatrice would give another convincing white lie, he pressed the bulb switch and made the place fully bright again.
The man let out a sigh before moving closer to her, "I told you never to cry alone," he said with a pained voice as he pulled her into a tight comforting hug.
Comforting both himself and her.
And the moment the man wrapped his hands around her, she did not hold it any longer as she burst out in tears, "It’s almost twenty-nine years Stephen," she complained burying her face into his chest, "Stephen, you always promised she would be reunited with me before I know it but from dusk till dawn on each passing seconds, the years count and_" she stopped as her tears choked her and stopped her from talking.
Stephen sigh in understanding as he stroked her back to stop her from crying, "I’m also going through the same pain as you Beatrice, and trust me, I’m doing every possible best I can so we can reunite with our daughter but...," his voice trailed off as it also weakened with little sobs behind it. It’s a big torture always seeing her this way but as each second passes, he kept on failing her with fruitless outcomes.
"Seems like God is not on our side concerning this," he continued looking at the sky as small tears pooled in his eyes unable to keep it in any longer than this.
Beatrice pulled away from him and this made Stephan look down at her using all strength in him to make sure his tears don’t drop, "Why would God be this cruel?" she asked, "Why did he bless us with her only to take her away, knowing the fact that it was a struggle to have her and we can’t have another?" she burst into tears.
"Beatrice_"
"Am sorry I’m making things hard for you," she apologized stepping away from her husband but he was quick to wrap her into his arms again,
"Shh.." he whispered into her ears, "Don’t think that way."
"Then how should I think? Why is God doing this, do want me to run mad or first make an appearance in heaven before he knows I’ve cried enough for my daughter?" she cut him off with questions.
She parted from him with an apologetic eye realizing that her questions seemed to be a little too self-centered. If anyone was having it more hard here, it was her husband. He has been so patient with her even with all her whimperings without caring about the fact he was growing old and needs an heir for his empire.
"I... I only felt her in my arms once. Once Stephan and before I would heal from the operation, she was gone."
Her daughter was stolen right under their nose and the feeling that someone close to her planned it all was what hit her the most because, with all the security, her child was stolen to this day.
Stephan parted from her and slowly wiped her years away from her eyes, "She is still out there and not in the grave. I know this might sound selfish but even if it’s a day allowance, I would make sure you see her again before death," he promised confidently.
Beatrice gave him a weak smile before burying her head into his chest again, "I hope so," she prayed.
Staying that way, he announced after a while "Let’s go inside,"
...
"Is this the only available information about her address?" Logan asked looking through the pictures his men handed over to him.
"Yes, boss." the bulkier one answered with a rough voice.
Logan at the addresses at the back of the pictures. They were the names of the places she was at when they took the pictures.
"My little angel," he murmured with an obsessed smile, "She is insanely beautiful,"
Speaking out loud, he asked, "Where is the address to Wyatt’s resident?" he asked with a frown when he did not see the main address he wants.
"We can’t go further than the out layer of his resident Boss so, we do not know if he’s leaving at the southern or the western part of that area," the leaner man replied.
He was the one assigned with the special assignment of following his boss little angel around.
"Hmm," Logan hummed as he took a draw off his cigar, he released a puff, "I would add fifty percent to your monthly income," he said surprising them as he stood up, "You both did a great job," he praised them using his finger to drum on the table while still admiring his little angel pictures his men did well to bless him with from all angles of her face and that was one of the ultimate reason for the increase of their salaries.
"Thank you, boss," both men said in unison, and knowing the conversation was over when their boss said nothing more, but just smoked, they headed to the door and left him alone.
Logan turned his face to the closed door and back to the pictures on the table, "Arissa Wyatt," he tasted her new name in his mouth with disgust as he dropped his cigarette on the ashtray, "Stupid combination,"
"Arissa Paul," he mentioned adding his last name to her name as he sat back in his seat, "That sounds better," he said with an evil smile on his lips.
"We must be together and that is sure," he said thoughtfully sweetly looking at her picture.
And then, his eyes turned dangerous, "I value promises a lot so, I don’t care about the number of obstacles I have to take away for us to be together. You just wait,"
Drawing in a deep breath, he brought out his phone and dialed a number.
"Someone needs to participate in this fun," he murmured and with that, he pressed the call button.
