Chapter 39: His crime backup.

Mr. Lincoln pulled a briefcase up from his leg side before putting it on the table. He smiled seeing the way the chief officer can’t take his eyes off the briefcase which without opening, one can say it’s filled with money concerning their previous meetings.

Right now, he’s in a meeting at a hotel room with the chief police officer and Mr. Logan - his crime backup and finisher. Seems like someone is telling on him and he needs to find out who and eliminate all.

"Get me your best hitman. I would let you know when he would be useful," he said looking at Mr. Logan before pushing the briefcase over to the chief officer.

Chief smiled at the briefcase but kept his itchy palm to himself with his greedy eyes on the briefcase.

Mr. Logan’s frown pulled up before he beckoned on his closest boy to come to him with his fingers and after a short whisper, the bulky young man exited the room and Mr. Logan turned back to the two men with him.

"You haven’t paid me for two years, Alfred," he reminded Mr. Lincoln with his eyes on the briefcase before the chief officer.

And with all protection, the chief officer dragged the briefcase over to himself with no hesitation any longer.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Lincoln," the chief officer thanked as he stood up, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" he asked with all loyalty.

All of his loyalty and achievement in his career were dedicated to Mr. Lincoln so, Mr. Lincoln has all of his support and backups in whatever crime he drops and of cause, drops all charges against Mr. Logan once in a while when his boys act recklessly.

"Leave us Chief," Alfred ordered. Chief seems useless in this situation concerning Arissa and again, he wants to get into the main business and that is with Mr. Logan. Although the chief has his mouth shut concerning all problems he created, that doesn’t mean he would still keep shut if the money stops coming in.

Chief bowed slightly before passing the briefcase over to the boy beside him and took quick steps out of the door leaving Mr. Logan, Mr. Lincoln, and the eight men that came in with Mr. Logan.

The room fell into quietness as both men held each other gaze one with a blank expression and the other with a small grin.

"Something tells me you are playing games with me, Alfred," Mr. Logan finally spoke up still holding the gaze.

And at once, the grin on Alfred’s face dropped but not completely, "Am not Logan," he assured placing both of his fists on the table as if showing his harmlessness.

Mr. Logan watched Alfred for a while before his lips parted, "My pay?"

"Would be yours in due time. Just a little wait," Alfread assured again with a slight plea in his voice.

"The girl?"

"She would be yours also and that is the reason I called for you," Alfred said in a hushed voice as he leaned forward, "I just want all things wrapped up first,"

Logan looked at Alfred’s close face and the thought of passing a bullet through that head of his clouded his - Logan’s thoughts.

"You do not fool me, Alfred," Logan said with a frown as he leaned forward also, and now their face a few inches apart, he whispered, "Isn’t she now married off to Wyatt’s boy?"

Alfred’s breath hitched as he instantly leaned backward, "That isn’t what transpired Logan."

One of Mr. Logan’s brows lifted at Alfred’s white denial, "Is that so?"

Alfred’s smile flattened with Mr. Logan’s displeased tune. Knowing Logan and the fact that he isn’t one to freely mess with, Alfred explained without being asked, "I needed Wyatt’s cooperation for my company to rise back to its previous operation,"

"That alone?" Logan asked.

Alfred swallowed a lump of saliva before rubbing his forehead, suddenly feeling hot under Mr. Logan’s heated gaze, "I needed something more. Their documents and that is also one of the reasons I need your help,"

"I believe Arissa would get the documents out in due time and when she has done her part, I would hand her over to you," he continued with a promise at the end.

Mr. Logan leaned off the table and sat up straight on his seat still saying nothing and only watching Alfred hardly.

And suddenly, Logan let out a chuckle, caressing the cleft on his chin

"Logan_"

"Enough Alfred." he shunned, "The way your mind works with greed is becoming threatening and I would want my previous pay before helping you in any more situation. For now, make sure my little angel does not get hurt unless...you would want to answer to me," he warned before standing up from his seat.

"Does this have to do with your pay?" Alfred asked and this earned a chuckle from Vincent.

"I not petty neither am I as greedy as you are. Just keep the end of our bargain - give me my girl and everything would go back to normal between us for now, am only restraining from pulling a bullet into that head of yours,"

Alfred scoffed hearing the threat, "You still need me Logan if you want Arissa. She is the untamable type and, I alone have the knowledge of how to tame her just as I did with the Wyatt marriage," he bragged standing up from his seat, "So right now, I want you to give me details of her sister hospital,"

Logan ignored him as he walked out of his seat and outstretched his hand, understanding the gesture, his right-handed boy placed a gun in his palm, "Do not overgrow your value, Alfred Lincoln," he warned as he looked at the gun in his hand intensely.

Alfred sat down with controlled rage as he looked at the gun in Logan’s grip, taking in a deep breath, he controlled his tongue first because one sharp tongue from him would only be gifted by a bullet through his head.

"I only want to know any hospital Arissa visits frequently," he pleaded.

"So? Something tells you I know the hospital your daughter is in?" Logan asked.

"Knowing you, I presume you already have your men trailing behind her," he affirmed strongly leaning back on his seat as his comfort before Logan disappeared.

Logan handed the gun back to his right-handed man before seating on his seat, crossing his right leg over the other, "That was a good assumption," he said picking up the wine bottle that has been ignored since he walked in here. Picking up a glass, he poured himself a cup full.

And with that gesture, Alfred knew that Logan’s men were trailing after his daughter.

"Did you do something to my angel?" he asked starting intensely into the wine as if to detect poison.

"I only threatened her," Alfred answered rolling his eyes. The situation right now is becoming tight and if Arissa does not provide the documents, he would be trapped between the Wyatt family and Logan gang members.

Logan took his eyes off the wine as he fixed a sinister murderous glare at Alfred, "I would be ending this conversation here Alfread so we don’t waste a life here," he advised standing up from his seat. "We would meet some other time," and without waiting for Mr. Lincoln to make another statement, he walked away with his men trailing behind him.
