Chapter 37: [BONUS Chapter] Family?

Arissa looked around one last time. She can not explain why but she can vividly swear that someone was following her around.

The last time she was out, she felt the eyes around and had to just go and meet up with Richard instead of going straight to the hospital.

She put her hand into her oversized blazer pocket while the other was carrying the bag of fruits she stopped by to get before coming down here.

She scolded herself for being so late in realizing this until she is at the hospital gate. Nevertheless, she now has to go in because just walking away with the goods in her hand might make whoever is watching her more suspicious or whatever.

Adele’s profile on the hospital profile isn’t her real profile so all she has to do is to be extra careful and attentive while going into Adele’s ward.

She walked away from her motorcycle and with normal steps, she went into the hospital but did not go to the floor of the ward immediately instead, she sat in the lobby and took some coffee first, away from an outsider’s view.

Thirty minutes later and no strange face walked in - not like she knows everyone who had walked in the past thirty minutes but, there was no one with strange suspicious eyes.

Standing up, she discarded the paper cup and walked straight to the elevator, if previously she was okay, now she isn’t especially with the few theories and assumptions growing in her head.

She signed fastly on the visitor’s book just beside her sister’s door but remembering something, she turned over to the nurse stationed before her sister’s ward.

"Have anyone come around to visit the patient under your care apart from me?" Arissa asked the nurse as she walked closer to her.

"Yes, Miss. Doctor Collins came around." the nurse answered taking her face off her files with a small smile.

Arissa shut her eyes for a while as she composed her breath and tried not to lash out at the nurse before her, "Why did you not call to let me know?" she asked the nurse whose smile irked her. Why is she smiling right now after a mistake as big as she made?

The nurse’s smile froze as she looked at Arissa’s tight expression, "I presumed he was family,"

Right now, all the nurse wants to do is to take herself out of the grip of this beautiful cold lady before her. She did not think about the consequences when she did what she did.

"Family?" Arissa asked as her frown increased, "I told you not to let anyone into this door without my permission, didn’t I?" she asked the nurse with an unpleased voice concerning the nurse’s mistake.

It might look little to the nurse but she knows that it can cost her and her sister so, she has to be extreme with this nurse to prevent such presstime from this nurse again.

Sweat broke out of the nurse’s back and a little dangling on her forehead, "I.... I’m sorry Miss," she apologized as she bowed her head and stepped back away from her table and closer to the wall.

She does not know this woman before her, but she can assure the next person that this Miss isn’t someone to mess with, particularly with her wired temperament.

Arissa looked at the elevator and the lonely corridor and back at the nurse again, "A mistake as big as this again would cost you your career," she promised the nurse and waited for the nurse’s approval of their mini deal.

Her expression softens as she draws in a sharp breath again, "Don’t make a mistake as grave as this again," she added with a calm voice.

Right now, there should be no leak holes in her sister’s address so, she can’t take chances. It would cost her a lifetime if she does - she just knows.

She gave the nurse one last warning look before going over to the door and after a knock, she walked in.

"You know, your signature look needs to be a bit colorful times," Jocelyn commented on Arissa’s outfit the moment Arissa walked in.

Arissa spared Jocelyn a side cast as she placed the bag of fruits on the table and with a sigh, she slumped into the couch beside Jocelyn.

"How many blazers do you have in your wardrobe?" Jocelyn asked

"A thousand," Arissa replied.

Collins gave one last check on Adele before turning to Arissa who just walked in, "How have you been?" he asked taking his stethoscope off his neck.

"I’ve been surviving," Arissa replied as she stood up from the couch and walked towards Adele, "How is her progress?" she asked with high hopes because right now, her sister’s color is no longer so pale.

Her skin color was now back to normal with only chapped lips but in all, she was like someone taking a short nap.

"There is no trace of the drug in her system any longer and now, there is hope that soon enough, she would be up," he informed professionally, "She has a powerful fighting spirit,"

"Hmm," was all Arissa could say with a wide smile on her lips starting down at Adele and taking all strands of hair off her face. She went to conduct a DNA test concerning Adele and the first man her informant sent as a suspect concerning Adele’s parents but, that would wait until Adele is awake. Her approval would be needed first before a decision as heavy as that.

"How about you? How have you been?" Collins asked her as he watched her fingers move on Adele’s face and then to her ring finger.

He unknowingly breathed out of relief seeing no ring there but deep down, he knows she is already married with or without the ring.

"I have been good," Arissa assured him and looked over to Jocelyn,

"I haven’t seen that dimple in ages," Jocelyn spoke first beating Arissa to what she was about to say,

".... I smiled the last time we were at the movies before you left for your fashion show," Arissa reminded her in detail with another smile that showed off her beautiful dimples and a good set of white teeth.

She was a full-time magnificence goddess.

"Excuse me," Collins said politely as he stepped away from Arissa, "I have things to do now," his inner self is now unexpressable as he felt wrong always to be out when she comes around.

"I accept your lunch request," Arissa said and Collins’s neutral expression now had a good wide grin on it but suddenly flattened remembering something, "I would be extra busy for now. How about this - I let you know when am free?" he optioned to which Arissa nodded her head.

Collins walked closer to her he encircled her into a warm hug, "Thank you," he appreciated as he learned the hug with a lifted spirit even if she did not hug him back, he got the chance to let her know she wasn’t alone and also, he would surely let her know that he had been waiting for her all these while.
