His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 279: Her Daughter.
Chapter 279: Her Daughter.
The waves crashed with the sands and the beautiful night sky made every side of the sea more dazzling.
The air around the sea was filled with lots of happy air but far off in a lonely dark corner, a woman dressed casually but with sad colors stayed away.
Laura sat rooted.
Her eyes remained fixed on the ferries as she tried to fix the pieces together and view her life from a different angle, from a different view where she would never have to meet Alfred.
Stephan was so good and nice to her.
Maybe this is wishful thinking and probably mindless dreaming but if she loves again, she swear she will love him right.
She could remember the last time they met and how he begged for forgiveness for something he never did just to please her.
She ruined her life herself and she won’t deny it. Her only regret was that she ruined Stephan’s and Beatrice’s life alongside hers.
Adele!
Adele was what she ruined Stephan’s life with and she regrets all of it. At the end of the day, she ended up with nothing.
No money, no assets, and even her rightfully owned company have been taken away from her by that young man.
Laura had thought he was sent by Alfred but when he asked for legal documents to own the company, she figured he was someone else.
How she got into all of this mess even to the point of being kidnapped, she does not know and it came with a price.
Her hands were the price. Both hands are now paralyzed, all thanks to the bullets left in them. She smiled at her hands before placing them back on her lap.
Her mind went back to all the summers and the beautiful times she had started with Stephan, only to realize she loved him even more.
She thought love should be for teenagers alone but in her stupid case, love poured on her like a giant wave and caused her to do stupid things.
Until this moment, she does not understand why she broke up with Stephan and dated Alfred. It was as if some black magic was used on her.
She fought so hard to make him see her and when he finally did, she discarded him like a trash bag.
It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing him and realizing she wishes she knew what she had when he was hers gave her more heartache.
She regretted all. All she did to herself and everyone. Especially poor Adele and her poor daughter.
She wishes she could turn the hand of the clock around and change her own life. She raised her hand to her face and from that emotionless face, tears left her eyes.
She murdered her blood for someone who had been hiding behind shells.
She wishes she could stop those things from happening to Adele and she also wishes God would give her a chance to fix things with her daughter for selling her out.
She wiped the tears from her eyes and took out her cell phone from her purse. She no longer has anything to lose but she has it all to lose if she dies without her daughter’s love back on her.
She said a short prayer to the Lord, typed Arissa’s number out, and dialed it. She has never been a good mother but she wants to be one now.
Laura knows Arissa would never accept her back in. Not after how she let Adele suffer and sold her off but trying would be worth it.
She was foolish and was only after the money back then. Now, she needs her daughter back.
Meanwhile...
A cold bucket was poured on Alfred to wake up when his meal for the day arrived. The man looked like a ghost of himself with blood and deep circles all over him.
Alfred woke up forcefully from his sleep. He tried to feel himself to be sure he wasn’t dead but he could not due to the chains so he bit himself hard on the lips and when he felt the pain, he realized he was alive.
But how? Those leeches bit him until he passed out.
He passed his hazy scary gaze over to the men who woke him up with a bucket of water. "Where’s my daughter? Does she know the kind of monster she’s married to?" he asked calmly.
Not because he wants to be calm but because he has no much strength left in him. His words sounded hypocritical hearing himself but he doesn’t care.
Gathering his strength, "Do my daughter know the monster she married?" he yelled.
"The kind of monster you sold your daughter off to would sound better," a hard voice countered Alfred’s words from the door.
The person who said those words walked in and when Alfred raised his face to the door, he swallowed meeting those penetrating blue eyes.
The man went on, "And my son is no monster," he defended harshly.
"Mr. Wyatt?"
Mr. Wyatt eyed him, "How dare you say trash about my son?" he asked Alfred, his voice disgusted.
He took chilled steps toward Alfred and the men behind him shut the door for him, "You called my son a monster? How interesting!" Mr. Wyatt tutted.
Alfred breathed unhurriedly and he turned stiff. He has never liked Mr. Wyatt because of the man’s temperament and the same goes for his son but when it comes to his son, Alfred manages to speak because he can birth the boy.
However, this was the Snr. Mr. Wyatt before him and he choked on his words. Alfred’s jaw clenched.
When he had gone to the hospital that day, he for seen a successful mission to threaten Arissa with Adele’s life but what he did not expect was for Nicklaus to appear.
The men in the room provided a seat for Mr. Wyatt to relax on. Taking his seat, Mr. Wyatt decided to address the whole issue.
