Chapter 266: Everything.

After the doctor left, Jocelyn walked over to the table and arranged the flasks in order so that the soups wouldn’t get cold.

"I forgot her experience was traumatizing," Arissa felt regretful, "I’m not good for anyone. I keep on causing damage in everyone’s life,"

Jocelyn finished with the soups and moved over to her friend. Getting to her, she held Arissa’s hand, "I’m surprised you still think of yourself this way," She gave out a light chuckle to lighten the atmosphere but Arissa’s expression remained heavy and regretful.

Jocelyn sighed, "Look, you are a blessing to everyone. You made sure to touch the lives you met along the way and I think it’s time you stop dragging everyone along and think about yourself first," She appreciated her.

Arissa took in a deep breath, "I’m heartless, Lyn, I wish I was you, I wish I could be you," she said close to tears for the second time.

Jocelyn’s left brow lifted in questioning, "Why do you say so?" She never believed Arissa would one day turn out to become a crybaby. Her friend has really fallen so hard for someone.

Arissa looked her best friend deep in the eyes, "If I were to be you, I would have made a better wife and a better companion,"

Jocelyn’s expression turned confused, "Is it that bad? Your argument this time?"

Arissa bit hard on her inner gum to stop her lips from quivering. "It is," she hinted walking over to the couch.

Jocelyn followed behind her and when Jocelyn was seated, she used her fingers to comb her whole hair sideways before sharing all that transpired between her and Nicklaus.

Jocelyn’s jaw dropped to the floor in horror and the whole hairs on her body stood erect. Disappointment towards Arissa flashed through her eyes but first, she pulled her friend into a tight hug.

Her anger was reserved for later. For now, her fear covered her as she could not imagine living without her friend.

Why did Nicklaus not mention this? Jocelyn asked herself but rethought her thoughts when she remembered he was only gentle and caring with his wife. She still hasn’t forgotten the cold stares he usually gives to her.

Jocelyn tightened her arms around Arissa as if securing her away from further danger and Arissa could only stay speechless and prepare herself for what was next.

After what seemed like ages, Jocelyn parted the hug. She held both sides of Arissa’s shoulders and they held each other’s gaze.

"Arissa, you piss me off sometimes," Jocelyn reproached Arissa. She was more than grateful that Nicklaus arrived at the right time and saved her friend’s life but it seemed as if her friend did not appreciate that.

She stood up from the couch and ran her hand through her long black hair. She faced Arissa with a massive unhappy expression, "How could you? That man tried to kill you and you said all of these to Nicklaus for helping you?"

Arissa gulped.

Jocelyn’s voice turned sadly calm, "I told you to mind how you speak to him but each time I speak to you concerning your marriage, it’s as if I am speaking to a rock,"

Arissa parted her lips to say something but only air escaped her lips and tears filled the brim of her eyes one more time.

Jocelyn dropped to the floor and folded her legs into a yoga position in deep thought, "I feel for him and I am beginning to think he honestly deserves better.... but you could be that better person and even best, Arissa."

She raised her face to her friend. "What’s so hard to be with Nicklaus? You marvel me with the new you and I love it. So why can’t you take this risk? It’s just this once, why can’t you trust him with your heart?"

Arissa sniffed and looked up at the ceiling with her red eyes, "I can’t, Lyn," her voice cracked, "I can’t risk it,"

"Why? What keeps you back from loving him with all that you have?"

Arissa shut her eyes and her tears rolled down, "Everything, everything, Lyn,"

Jocelyn smiled bitterly, "How do you think he would be feeling right now? After all, you said and how ungrateful you turned out to be before him, why don’t you imagine feeling what he would be feeling right now?"

Arissa looked down from the ceiling, her eyes now swollen and puffy, "I don’t know how he feels right now." she choked out.

Jocelyn’s voice turned hard, "Stop crying, Arissa, and answer the question. How do you think Nicklaus feels after all you said to him?" she almost yelled at her friend.

Arissa sniffed, using her fingers to clean her tears, she closed her mouth with her palm to stop herself from crying out.

Jocelyn felt like to comfort Arissa as she cried but decided to push that aside. If she wants her friend to feel what she did deep into her soul and mind marrow, she would need to learn it the hard way. "How do you think he feels, Arissa?" she asked again, this time her voice sterner, unkind and harsh.

Arissa coughed, "I think he would hate me and don’t want to have anything to do with me again," she voiced out what she dreed the most. "He might not even want to look at me again nor would he ever want to help me,"

Jocelyn’s tears rolled down and a small smile covered her lips. She stood up from the floor and walked towards Arissa before holding Arissa’s hands to stand up.

When Arissa stood up, she began to wipe the tears from her eyes, "That’s enough,"

Arissa sniffed, "I’m scared," she gulped, "I’m afraid of how he might change and start treating me as cold as the start from now on,"

"Hush, baby." Jocelyn said soothingly, "Have you tried calling or texting him? What was his reply, did he give you a reply?"

Arissa nodded, "I tried calling multiple times accompanied by text but he answered none and now, his phone power is gone. I can’t contact him," she said and more tears rolled down her cheeks bitterly.

Jocelyn took in a deep breath and pulled Arissa into her arms, with lots of advice or words to say.

How long would Nicklaus keep on being apologized to after all the fights and when would Arissa stop hurting him? She can’t think of a way to resolve this anymore.
