Chapter 249: The People In It.
Nicklaus stared at the video displayed on his phone. A man was tied to a chair, all weak and bloody after receiving some good beating.
The man who was tied to a chair, his whole haughty and murderous demeanor was gone and was now replaced with a submissive pleading one.
The man was battered with his blood and swollen everywhere with bruises, including his face. Nicklaus’s rage was everywhere.
The man drew blood from his wife and now, he was only returning the favor. He hasn’t thought about what to tell Arissa about this but if he notice she would get mad because he interfered, he would brush the issue off.
He tried to endure Alfred until that day. He would endure this man no more. Arissa can cry, whine, get mad, be happy, thank him, he doesn’t think he would care about that. In one word, he meant whatever emotions she would pull off because of what he was doing to her father, she was free to let it out.
He would deal with this man in the worst way possible and he should just wait, a cell awaits him the moment he’s done with him.
He licked his lower lips and more ways to watch someone suffer welcomed themselves into his mind.
His eyes turned sharp and unlike the soft stares he gives to Arissa, his eyes were all dark with hints of revenge in it.
But Nicklaus knew he had to act safe. Logan doesnt seem to be doing anything for the past few days now and that’s enough reason to make Nicklaus watchful.
He have watch Logan for a longer time now and he also knows about the man’s obsession with his wife which he hope they would resolve without an headache.
Logan can play with Alfred, he doesnt care. His problem with the world would start when Arissa would get hurt because of the persons in it.
.....
Mr. Williams took the bandage off Arissa’s head, "she’s fine," he announced after asking her a series of questions and doing what he knew best.
Arissa nodded in agreement to his words. She felt alright, and she can’t wait for this to be over so she could go and search for Nicklaus.
She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and watched the doctor arrange his materials.
Mr. Williams nodded at Mrs. Wyatt and to Arissa, he said, "Take care of yourself," he was in a rush to leave the house after confirming his patient was okay before he meets with Nicklaus again.
Good thing the man wasn’t in the room.
"Thank you, Williams," Mrs. Wyatt said standing up. With a few more steps, she walked him to the door and after exchanging a friendly handshake with the doctor, she closed the door and walked back to the Arissa.
Mrs. Wyatt was tempted to ask about the incident. Nicklaus said nothing to her about it and if not for Williams, she won’t have known the girl went through such an event that could traumatize her.
She wondered what kind of family the Lincolns were. First Adele and now Arissa. Adele’s case was manageable considering the girl wasn’t the man’s biological child, but Arissa? It was all just too much for Mrs. Wyatt’s mind to comprehend.
Arissa climbed back on the bed and snuggled into Nicklaus’s position. Mrs. Wyatt got to the bed and covered her with the duvet.
"Let me prepare something for you to eat, I would be back," she said patting Arissa from under the duvet.
Arissa turned to her with a smile, "I’m not hungry," she said, "Rue prepared something earlier,"
Mrs. Wyatt blinked at her, "You mean you woke up earlier?" she asked.
Arissa nodded, "I did,"
"Oh!" Mrs. Wyatt said. If so, she was the latecomer and here she was thinking Nicklaus would be so irresponsible.
Arissa sat up from the bed, "I think I know where Nicklaus should be," she informed the older woman before coming down from the bed.
Mrs. Wyatt gave her a look of disapproval, "Take some rest and tell me where he is and let me send for him."
"I’m not so sure he would be in there, I’m just saying, so let me go myself," she countered Mrs. Wyatt.
Mrs. Wyatt held Arissa’s shoulder, "Nicklaus might have gone to the office," she reasoned.
Arissa frowned at the woman’s words. Was Mrs. Wyatt confirming Nicklaus can’t spend a few minutes at home until she wakes up?
Arissa tied her hair into a bun, "I’d be back. Let me search for him myself," she told Mrs. Wyatt. To buy the woman over, when she finished packing her hair, she placed a kiss on the woman’s cheeks before walking out of the room.
Mrs. Wyatt nodded at her and let her be, "Here," she passed the room card over to her.
Arissa gave her a small bright smile and left the room. Her feet found their way to the elevator and before she knew it, she was in the nursery hall.
She prayed he was in there. The nursery was the first place that came into her mind when she thought of him.
She got to the door and with a light knock, she opened the door and walked in, and just as she had guessed, Nicklaus stood before her in a casual shirt and pants with his back facing her.
Nicklaus frowned when the door was pulled open. He immediately ended his call with Daniel and turned over to whoever just walked in without his permission.
Turning to the door, his stern mask fell off and a smile was tugged on his lips. He walked over to her and held her to himself from her waist.
He closed the door behind her and slammed her back on the door. Not waiting for a second, he leaned towards her and wrapped his lips over hers.
He missed her like crazy and even as she stood before him, he still missed her. He kissed her slowly, savoring all of her taste and letting her soft vanilla scent calm him down.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Daniel’s face turned sour. He couldn’t believe what his master just asked him to do.
