Chapter 224: Find Herself, Someone.
Chapter 224: Find Herself, Someone.
Nicklaus came out of the bathroom the exact moment the topic changed to Collins. His feet glued to the floor with a frown, and his jealous side crawled out, turning his face darker than the worst storm.
Collins?
His heart pounded in his throat. He feared he might hear a hurtful confession from her. He wasn’t supposed to feel this way, Arissa turned Collins down. He watched the confession and if anything, Collins was far and he was the one around her but his heart wasn’t so convinced.
The conversation burned him. There was no bad blood between him and Collins, they were good but he can’t help his jealousy and uncertainty.
He decided to listen to the conversation if perhaps she might give an honest reply without his presence. He was disturbed in his heart, Jocelyn’s words stirred his feelings, playing with them, daring him to deny them.
’I’m a married woman,’ his heart skipped a thousand beats when Arissa said those words. The sweetness that came with her admitting to those words and letting them leave her lips was likely to give him a heart attack.
Fire blazed in his eyes hearing Jocelyn’s words to that. It seems he would never get along with this friend of hers.
’I have a husband. Let’s live in the reality that I have a husband with no different time zone,’ he heard her reply. His heart protruded followed by a chuckle leaving his lips.
His feet itched to move to her, pull her into a tight hug and take her away from here, keep her all to himself and not let Jocelyn ask her questions like that.
A short silence followed. He heard Arissa speak and the moment Jocelyn said a word, he stepped out. He has survived hearing those questions and won’t want to hear more of them.
So, here he was.
When he met Jocelyn’s eyes, he never meant to intimidate her. However, he wanted her to know she was no longer the only person in Arissa’s life.
Whether she likes it or not, he was now a huge part of her life and he hopes Jocelyn knows that also. Arissa turned to him and peeked between his legs before giving him that nerve-calming smile she always pulls out.
He walked over to them, took a seat beside Arissa, leaned closer to her, and whispered, "Would you join me for a walk when you’re done, there is someone I want to show you,"
Arissa blinked at Jocelyn. Her hormones triggered with his breath on her and her ovaries leaped with joy. She nodded quickly and began to eat to distract herself.
Nicklaus sat straight when she nodded. He fixed his heated glare on Jocelyn which caused the poor unfortunate lady to immediately choke on her meal.
Arissa noticed Jocelyn’s predicament and she wondered what that was about. Nicklaus was never naturally nice with people but he should at least let Jocelyn off his glaring hook.
"Nicklaus," she called and that was enough to change the room atmosphere back to normal.
"What is it?" he answered, tangling a strand of her hair with his finger. Each day, his addiction to her grows. Today seems worst, he wasn’t even able to take his hands off her.
She drew him ten steps closer with her replies earlier. It went down to his heart which was supposed to scare him but not anymore.
He trusts her. She won’t hurt him, that’s something he could bet his life on. He wants to be brave, claim her, and tell her about his feeling but he can’t, and he won’t.
Whenever he sees her, his doubt on women washes away. He can’t love, Nicklaus was afraid to fall but watching her come closer and closer to his heart, it all felt natural.
It felt as if he had been waiting for her for ages. She was his peace, his salvation.
He hates to admit this but she owns the whole of him. That’s how large her power over him was. The feeling was raw, exciting, and also deadly.
Arissa turned to him. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw how intense and how lost his stare at her was. Her words flee from her and she forgot how talking felt like.
Nicklaus was watching her as if she was the most beautiful being he had ever seen. She was highly surprised and tried not to freak out.
"Could you help me with the ketchup?" she said when she finally found her voice. They can’t stare at each other all day and the ketchup was a reasonable object to distract him with even though it was just before her.
Nicklaus let out a deep exhale as he turned away. Picking up the ketchup, he said, "Let me know when to stop," he opened the bottle and commenced pouring it into her plate.
Arissa folded her lips, trying not to smile. He was melting her heart in every possible way he could. She thought she was also melting his but after what happened today and how his ex still controls a large part of him, it left her shaken.
Jocelyn could not believe her eyes. What the hell happens between these two? Arissa has some explanation to give to her.
The last argument they had wasn’t even up to a week but now, they are so lovey-dovey without caring about her presence.
"That’s enough," Arissa spoke up after a while.
The issue with his ex was beginning to make her sad. However, who was she to get sad? She’s just his contract wife and nothing more. His ex was a woman he loved and dated while she was a wife he was forced to have - for business’ sake.
’But wait, why am I feeling this way?’ she asked aloud in her thought.
Nicklaus stopped at her command. He returned the ketchup bottle to its position before investing his whole time into watching her as she ate.
Jocelyn watched the couples as she rolled her eyes sideways. They were crawling under her skin right now.
For an unstable relationship human like her, they were beginning to stab her heart, challenging her to find herself, someone.
