Stephan eyes got wet staring at Beatrice. Fear cloud his heart most frighteningly. He wasn’t even able to breathe. The situation stuffed his heart and sealed his lungs.

He feared deeply, his fears were drowning him down. Beatrice hasn’t opened her eyes since their last conversation which was now five days old.

He would lie if he said he wasn’t losing hope. Right now, he was floating on a thread line, back and forth between fear and faith. He was losing himself, he was losing it.

The only thing keeping him sane was the rising and falling of her chest. Even at that, his heart would stop beating each time her breathing slowed down.

Apprehension covered his chest as he felt her hand getting colder with the seconds passing by. The doctors already did all they could and right now, it was in God’s hands.

His tears dropped fervently on their entwined fist. The once cheerful man was now a ghost of himself with eyes so sunken.

He wasn’t sick, but his appearance was worst than that of a sick person.

His heart wasn’t his anymore as his soul had left him long ago. His spirit was far away, he couldn’t even feel his inner self anymore. That was how dead he was.

However, he still acknowledges the power of God and hoped for a manifestation. Not just her hands were cold, but her breathing also turned slow and tired.

He felt it deep down his bones.

Beatrice would leave. Her time was up.

Yet, Stephan refused to believe the medical knowledge and conclusion. He knew... No, he believed God stayed up in heaven and watches.

Which means he won’t let this tragedy befall him.

Call him stupid, but he won’t let go of his faith and hope in his father.

The more tears that escaped his eyes, the more his words of adoration to God left his eyes. He felt the whole angels around. He could also sniff death’s presence already if that was even possible.

And Beatrice.....Beatrice seems ready to go. She wasn’t fighting, she have never been a fighter but for this once, he prayed she could be one.

She can’t just give up on him this way after she promises him. She promised to talk to the angels and tell them to wait. She also promised to talk to God without dying.

However, she has been closing her eyes since then, wasn’t the conversation with God and the angels yet over? Was she crossing already? Doesn’t she remember him anymore? Has she been erased from her memory so fast? Doesn’t she love him enough to feel his hurt?

He parted his eyes, letting his bloodshot eyes come to view. He wasn’t ready to give up yet, he doesn’t want to lose hope.

He has forgone looking for their daughter. At this moment, Beatrice needs him more, she needs his time and prayer the most.

He cleared his throat, "Can you hear me?" he started, kissing her fist before rubbing his chin on it. Her cold and pale skin terrified him.

A chuckle accompanied by a deep sigh left his lips. "You said the best days of your life were the ones spent with me." he sniffed, "I’ll never forget the first time we met. You were so caring and loving. How you offered your seat on the train to that little kid captured my heart. I came to appreciate humanity once more. You helped me appreciate the gift of life again." he paused.

He doesn’t understand what he was saying. They were just random memories popping into his head and he felt like to share them with her. He believed she was listening and he believed his words would help.

Taking his hand to her head, he softly rubbed his hand on her bald hair, "I know you can hear me, and for that, I’m pleading, I’m pleading with you. Please, add a day more. Don’t forget about me so fast," he cried.

"Stay one more day so I could use that short time to talk to the angels to come for me so that we could leave together," he laughed.

"Don’t you want that?" he asked, "Don’t you want us to go together?"

His shoulders slumped. "I’m sorry," he apologized, "I’m sorry I made mistakes. I would have secured the hospital more than I did and I’m sorry that I failed you in bringing our daughter back to you,"

"I love you," he laughed again - a happy one, "I love you and it’s an honor to call you my wife. An honor I’d forever appreciate." he stood up from his seat and kissed her on her forehead.

He pressed his forehead on hers. "I’m aware of how much our daughter means to you, I know you love her with your whole heart. No space is left even but I hope you also remember those who love you,"

"I’d let Nana know about your condition. I’d let the whole family know, Trice. Just as much as you love our daughter, we love you more. Please consider your decision." he choked, "Come back, Beatrice, I’m waiting, we all are waiting," he let his tears drop on her closed eyelids.

At that moment, while he cried on her face, in a particular ward, a woman’s finger tapped lightly on her hospital bed.

Though her eyes did not part open, her scenes returned as she had regained consciousness. Another soft tap was made by that finger and once again, the world became still to her.
