Chapter 207: No One Disrespects His Wife.

The second he saw the number that was displayed on his screen wasn’t Arissa, Nicklaus’s eyes turned cold. She haven’t replied to his text in a while now so he just directly assumed the call would be hers and now it wasn’t, he turned more rigid.

Daniel’s name was displayed on the screen. He looked above his shoulder and started at Alfred. Their gaze collided and Alfred immediately averted his gaze.

Nicklaus’s eyes went back to his phone screen. Answering the call, he took two steps away from his initial position.

"Call me back an hour from now," Nicklaus ordered the moment Daniel greeted from the other end. Without wasting a second more, he hung up and turned back to Alfred.

He sat back on his seat and pierced Alfred with his gaze. "Is there something else you would love to say, father-in-law? My time is counting,"

Alfred ran his hand through his raven-dark hair. Hope coursed through him when Nicklaus finally gave him the title.

"I need the money. I gave you my daughter. Don’t you think it’s high time you take responsibility for my life as a son?" he used the title against Nicklaus.

Nicklaus’s brow creased at Alfred’s petty words. Was this man before him thinking? A son? Was his eyes that dimmed or is his brain so rusted that he forgets he can’t have children?

"You gave me your daughter? Responsibility as a son?" he chuckled with humor, "Didn’t I and my family fulfill your request before having her? If anything, you are the one slacking by in the deal." he scanned Alfred, "What was your real motive for coming here?"

Alfred might use money as a cover-up, Nicklaus believed something else was under this visit. And let’s not forget the creepy glance when he was about to answer Daniel’s call.

And Daniel..... Was there an issue? It might look like a coincidence but Daniel calling him with Alfred before him was a good reason for suspicions.

Alfred’s breathing pace changed from normal to fast at the occasional suspicious question. "I need money. It doesn’t matter what the deal states. Right now we are family and you must help me when I need help. What don’t you understand?" he yelled letting his anxiety take over him.

Nicklaus did not blink when Alfred yelled that way. He wasn’t even furious at the man’s commanding tone or choice of words.

Rather he was entertained. Entertained by the idea of how Arissa’s expression would turn disgusted upon seeing the man she loathes so much breaking down all in the name of money.

He chuckled inwardly at her expression.

He could also hear her voice asking questions like, "Wasn’t money the reason he sold both her and Aldele? He also did terrible nonsense because of some cash. Where are all those money? What happened to them?"

Alfred went on when he saw how nonchalant Nicklaus stared at him. "Don’t forget the whole higher-ups are mad at you. You have only your father behind you. Help me and let’s be partners." he pressure desperately.

Nicklaus’s expression turned broad and flat as he was forced back to the reality of listening to Alfred. His eyes fell dryly and turned sharper.

Nothing shakes him when he sets his mind into doing something but at least Alfred would have tried harder and not to use those greedy sharks as his weak point.

His company needs his hard work, wisdom, and time investment alone. They could go trouble someone else with their power unless they want him to be their last bus stop, they should continue with him.

He picked up his coffee mug to his lips. Not breaking his gaze out of Alfred’s own, he luxuriously sipped his hot coffee.

Alfred gulped back his anger. This kid was beginning to push his buttons. He would have killed him earlier just as he had done to the other rising business families.

However, tragics cheated him at the last minute. His funds crumbled and he needed a strong help and solutions to it. Laura gave her opinion, it was fruitful and with how desperate he was, he accepted and spared Nicklaus’s life.

The boy shouldn’t think he’s already safe. The moment those documents get to his palm hold, he would wipe the Wyatt family off the earth. He believe it would merely be a little more words into Arissa’s head to get the job done.

"You could secure an immediate position by having a child," Alfred threw hints on his issue with the higher-ups again. "Marriage was enough but that was until you annoyed them. Your company would crumble after major blows."

Nicklaus frowned and placed his mug on the coffee tray and with curious intensity, he stared into Alfred’s eyes.

Alfred went on, thinking he had thrown the right arrow due to how focused Nicklaus watched him. "I permit you to have kids with Arissa. She won’t leave with her kids. Her right to them expires alongside the contract. That way, you could still use the benefits that come from the kids even after your divorce from her," he advised calmly and desperately.

Nicklaus’s frown deepened. Was this man suggesting he use Arissa as a means to secure his position? No, also their future kids as the key to permanent power? How power-hungry was this man before him to give such suggestions?

"Mr. Lincoln_"

Alfred cut him off, "She could be stubborn, but I permit you to force her. Let her birth as many kids as you would want. Whereas, that’s what women are created for. You_"

Nicklaus slammed his desk in burning fury. "Stop talking!!" he roared his fist on his desk trembling from his rage. His emotions scattered across the room and he wasn’t even aware that his hot coffee had spilled on his left hand as an effect of the hard slam.

"Leave my office!!!" he thundered as he had had enough of this man.

Alfred was stunned. "W_"

"NOW!!!!" Nicklaus cut him off without letting him say a word.

He was angered by Alfred’s words beyond repair. He would have accommodated him due to the fact Arissa bore his last name, but not anymore.

No one disrespects his wife before him. Not even in his absence not behind his back. If they ever try it, he would fish them out and make them face the consequences that come with it.

Alfred did not just disrespect his wife but also downgraded her role in his life and the life of their future kids.

"Don’t let me call the guards to drag you out," he warned the stunned man before him.

Alfred turned pale at the amount of disrespect he just received. He stared at Nicklaus without blinking and with a shame-filled face, he stood up from the seat.

He turned and stared into Nicklaus’s eyes when he got to the door and with great determination, he vowed to pay back.
