Chapter 201: What Living Feels Like.

Geal stared at Nicklaus like he had lost his mind. "Why don’t you back away now? You don’t have to wait until things go south."

Nicklaus passed Geal a lazy glare before shifting his eyes back to the papers he was forced on before Arissa then appearance.

Geal sighed at Nicklaus’s determination to ignore him and go on with his - Nicklaus - conception. "Trust me, when things begin to go south, you would be stuck with her, and leaving wouldn’t be an option, it would become something you can’t do."

Nicklaus signed on one of the files before closing it. Opening another, he stared long at Geal. "Geal, if I’m being honest, Arissa doesn’t seem like someone I should be scared of loving."

Geal disagreed. "She would make you feel that way until it’s time for her to strike. Nicklaus as a brother I’m pleading with you to get your life back. She isn’t worth any of these efforts."

Nicklaus glared at Geal. "She is worth all of my efforts. Each attempt I’d ever use on her, she’s worth more than it. If anything, ever since she walked through that door that night at the club and took a glass from my drinks, she had shown me how to experience other emotions. If you ask me, that’s what living is all about."

He went on, "Atimes, she could be annoying and difficult which is supposed to make me step away but... I can’t. And when I kissed her for the first time, the worlds in my mind trembled. Slowly, the demons backed away. It would only be a matter of time before they leave completely, as she’s hell-bent on taking every space my mind has left."

He chuckled and stared afar. "Her stubbornness and the fact she would never be a hundred percent obedient makes me more addicted to her and before I would stand straight for the emotional hollow she threw me into, my legs would end up going back to her,"

He drummed his pen on his desk in a rhythmical motion. He chuckled, a very dry and awkward one, "She doesn’t feel all of these for me. It’s all one-sided which makes me feel more regretful." he looked his best friend in the eyes.

"I should have ended these feelings when I started to get an inch of them but I was lost in the moment. So lost that for the first time in forever, I’m laying down my rules for someone,"

"I can’t keep away from her, I unapologetically crave her. I crave her the way I never expected to crave a woman," he sighed, "NEVER,"

Geal said nothing but listened patiently with intense attention and Nicklaus could only let out a low frustrated sigh before going on, letting all of his pains out.

"Each time I want to back away, she would lean in and when I’m completely trapped, she would walk away and let my emotional turmoil keep me company,"

He paused his pen, "I like her, I strongly do. Last night, she came, offering an apology. We spent time together, and she got drunk. In one word, we experienced and shared new feelings," he laughed dryly, "She shook my world last night and I expected something more from her, like a new growth between us."

Geal finally chimed in, "Let me guess, she brutalized your expectations."

Nicklaus nodded with a heavy heart. "I felt there was someone else but after a throughout search, nothing was found. It all seems natural."

"What seems natural? Your feelings?"

"No, her feelings. Maybe, she would never be able to like a thing about me," Nicklaus answered. He released an exhale from his mouth, "There was also a time I asked what she hated about me. She spoke about my attitude and I tried my hardest to drown that act."

"What happened next after you followed her command?" Geal’s voice sounded curious and mocking at the same time.

Picking the mix in Geal tune, Nicklaus glared at the man before him. Unbothered by the glare, Geal pressed on. "What happened after the change? Did you turn into her sweetheart overnight?" he taunted further.

"I want to be no one’s sweetheart," Nicklaus countered with a scroll.

Geal waved his hand dramatically, "Oh! Please." he turned serious, "All of your efforts are for what. What do you aim at being if not a sweetheart to her? Don’t you plan on being someone she would soften her walls for just as you’ve done for her?"

Nicklaus swallowed as he considered Geal’s words.

Geal proceed. "Did you expect she would suddenly see you in new lights when you are the person she was forced into marriage with." he scoffed, "You would forever be the villain in her story and none of your efforts would erase that from her memory."

Nicklaus clenched the pen he was holding so tight as if about to snap it into halves. Geal’s words were true and direct which made Nicklaus unable to take it all in.

Geal entwined his fingers together in thought, "I can’t imagine what I saw when I walked in here. While you stared at her with all those weird despicable emotions, her eyes were all blank." he scoffed mockingly, "Isn’t that enough sign to know that all these would pass and you would be the only one to bear the blow when it happens?"

Nicklaus’s expression hardened immediately, "I won’t repeat history with my father. Arissa isn’t capable of killing," he defended her with all certainty.

Geal laughed. "The blow isn’t death alone. Emotional pain is involved and trusts me, it is higher than death and when it happens, she would show you the way to death just as she has shown you how to live."

Nicklaus blinked, "It won’t happen that way, she would come around," he said with courage.

Geal chuckled and with applause, he said, "Well, congratulations on finally being able to know how living feels like. I think I’m okay this way,"

Nicklaus just ignored him and stared back at the paperwork on his desk. If Geal has no advice on how to win Arissa, he should just keep shut and let him forcus.
