His Toxic Addiction
Chapter 164: Talking To A Picture.

Chapter 164: Talking To A Picture.

Logan’s aura switched from loving to deadly the moment Arissa was out of sight. He stared at the people around who took the role of the press upon themselves and stupidly, were still taking inappropriate photos of him.

Controlling himself, he looked back at his arm that once held his ’wife’ so close for the first time. Yes, Arissa was meant to be his, and technically, being his meant getting married to him so, he has all rights in calling her his wife.

Lost in the feeling of his hand on her waist with her body pressed so close to him, Logan released a wide grin as he stared back at the staircase she just escaped from.

However, his gaze changed as they became filled with plot and craftiness when he turned back at the couples in the ward.

He tried to catch a glimpse of their faces but it was useless as they were so endorsed in whatever they were talking about or promising each other.

Suddenly, he snarled at the act, which was once beautiful when he watched it with Arissa but now, the affection irritated him.

He did not plan to cross paths with Arissa. He never thought he would one day be this blessed to see her alone in person, or even, spend time with her. He had always thought he was bound to just talk to her picture portrait until he close his plan files and make her his.

Coming here this morning was a blessing in disguise, thou he was about to send Vincent.

He also wanted to know who Adele’s parents were. He tried digging into them but their information was covered in layers and layers which made it hard for him to penetrate.

He still doesn’t know how Adele got into the Lincoln family because whoever this couple is, they don’t seem to have dirt on them.

He pondered a little on the issue at hand and his gaze went back to the staircase Arissa left from and a sudden smile graced his deadly face.

He turned away and back to the couple and at that moment, a dark chuckle left his lips. Playing with the hidden gun in his waistband, he murmured, "Thank you for making things easier but don’t worry, I won’t be too sudden. Enjoy your time while it lasts,"

And saying that, he turned away from them and left the place with his face held high with an obvious killing magnet which confused a few people who paid attention to him.

Thousands of plots mapped themselves in Logan’s brain and only time will tell because right now, he has a lot in store for her and these couples. When he would be done with her, she would crawl to him, begging him to accept her while he makes her pay for today’s slap and humiliation.

....

The moment Arissa came out of the elevator, she took notice of her surrounding. Looking sideways, her brow furrowed at the feeling of someone watching her, which seemed bizarre because the moment she turned in the direction she suspected the watch from, the place was void of life.

She looked ahead immediately. Maybe it’s just my fear messing with me, she tried to talk herself out of that feeling.

Suddenly, she remembered the weird guy and how he looked at her and everything. Could her thoughts be right? Was he just a distraction?

She looked over to the nurse’s desk but no one was there which made her heart drop with a loud thud. What could have happened? The nurse wasn’t meant to leave her sitting space and with quicker steps, she rushed down to her sister’s door.

Not knocking on the door, she barged into the room, with her heart in her mouth only to see Jocelyn and the nurse staring back at her.

Arissa gulped, "Jocelyn," she called, still rooted to the floor as she hoped her mind wasn’t playing games with her.

Jocelyn’s lively expression turned confused, she immediately stood up from where she was seated with the nurse when they whirled time away.

"Arissa?" she looked at her friend and her eyes darted to the door. Arissa never leaves the door open when she walks into a room but right now, she just did which made Jocelyn more concerned.

Knowing Arissa better was from her little actions and Jocelyn had paid a lot of attention to them all which could make one right when they say she knows Arissa better than anyone else.

She walked past Arissa first and after surveying the quiet hallway, she shrugged her shoulders and closed the door.

There was no one coming in after her so why did she leave the door open? "Did something happen?" Jocelyn asked from behind Arissa with her arms folded across her chest.

Arissa released a deep breath, "I’m okay," she told Jocelyn as her racing heart was beginning to calm down but still, who was this nurse and where did the other nurse go?

She was so sensitive about what was happening around her that she can’t take little chances and immediately, her eyes fell on Adele. When she saw her chest fall and raise, Arissa’s frozen eyes finally blinked.

"You don’t seem okay," Jocelyn disagreed with her answer from behind her.

Arissa did not reply to her and just moved toward Adele, "Did someone visit?" her voice turned cold and distant while asking as if Jocelyn turned a stranger to her overnight.

Jocelyn’s brow furrowed at the question. Why was Arissa asking such? If someone had visited, she would have let her know without her asking. So why was she questioning her like she was an employee she doesn’t trust?

Jocelyn turned to the nurse in the room with them, "Privacy," she ordered in one word, which surprised the nurse. Just before Arissa came in, they were having a discussion and Jocelyn was all jovial with her so the sudden cold tune and intimidating aura from her set the nurse’s defenses high.

Jocelyn turned impatient with the nurse’s delay. Seeing the nurse not planning to leave soon, her expression hardened as her lips parted, "Leave us," Jocelyn ordered again with a more stern voice, and without a second more, the nurse’s expression turned sober and with a light nod, she left the ward for the two friends.
