Chapter 78: Unforgivable Sins

"It’s Dominique..."

Athena’s face turned pale and her body froze when she heard Dominique’s name. This was so sudden. Why did Dominique drop by Gael’s place? Did he know that she was there?

"Why is he here?" Athena finally found her voice to speak up. "There is no way he knows I’m here. Do you think his men are still monitoring you, Gael?" Anxiety crept into Athena’s voice as she contemplated the implications. She needed to be cautious. Being seen with Gael could jeopardize her cover.

Gael approached Athena, holding her shoulders to calm her down. "Sabby, relax. Maybe he just needs something from me. He can’t see you here. Just stay inside the house and don’t leave. Lock the door. I’ll talk to him outside."

Athena just bobbed her head. She watched Gael’s back as he headed to the door. Dominique rang the doorbell once more. She traced her steps toward the video intercom to see what was happening outside the gate.

She braced herself as she watched Gael confronting Dominique. The two men were now standing in front of the gate.

"What brings you here, Mr. Smith?" Gael asked him in his indifferent tone. He didn’t hide his displeasure toward Dominique.

Without hesitation, Dominique grabbed Gael by the shoulders, his grip firm as he demanded answers.

"Gael! Where is Sabrina?! Are you hiding her from me?! Please tell me. Is she still alive?!!" Dominique violently shook Gael’s body.

Gael’s pulse quickened as he felt Dominique’s grip tighten. He swallowed hard, meeting Dominique’s intense gaze. He was stupefied when he heard the desperation in Dominique’s voice.

’So he is looking for Sabrina. He still thinks that she is alive and that I am hiding her from him.’

"I don’t know what you are talking about," Gael stated in his calm demeanor. He feigned ignorance.

"Don’t play games with me, Gael," Dominique growled, his frustration bubbling to the surface.

"You know what I am talking about, Gael! Sabrina might still be alive! And we have a child. The young boy with you... Aaron! I think Aaron is my son! Where are they? Where are you hiding them?!"

Gael’s jaw clenched. "Look, Dominique. I think you are out of your mind," Gael began, his voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins. "Sabrina is dead. Have you forgotten? She died in front of you! You are a crazy jerk. After what you’ve done to her and her family, you refuse to give her peace?"

Gael laughed at him sarcastically. "And you think Aaron is your child?! You are ridiculous, Dominique. Stop this madness. Accept the fact that Sabrina is gone. And it’s because of you!" Gael managed to free himself from Dominique’s tight grasp and he pushed Dominique away from him.

"Have you known that Sabrina was pregnant with my child?" Dominique asked him again with his trembling voice.

Gael’s expression twisted into a scowl as he faced Dominique. "Why are you asking me this now? If I recall correctly... it was you who wanted nothing to do with Sabrina and her child," he spat, his anger boiling over. With a surge of fury, he lunged at Dominique, delivering a powerful punch to his face.

Thud!

Dominique staggered backward, caught off guard by Gael’s sudden attack. He didn’t attempt to dodge or block the blow. Instead, he stood there in confusion, his hand instinctively reaching up to touch his bruised cheek.

"What do you mean by that?" he demanded, his voice tinged with disbelief.

"You bastard! Don’t feign innocence! You disgust me a lot, Dominique! I should have stopped Sabrina from marrying you! You ruined her life!" Gael screamed at him.

But Dominique’s attention was focused on one thing. He needed an answer from him. "What did you just say, Gael? Can you clarify it? What made you think I didn’t want to acknowledge Sabrina’s pregnancy?"

"Did you have amnesia?" Gael mocked him. He closed their gaps once again, grabbing Dominique by his collar and shoving his body to the concrete wall.

"You are the most evil person I’ve known in this world, Dominique. I resent you a lot." Gael seethed, his voice thick with emotion. "How could you have hurt Sabrina in such a despicable manner? Not content with coercing her into signing divorce papers, you and your mistress went so far as to force her into aborting an innocent child! You’re both wicked beyond measure. Sasha and you are a match made in hell!"

Dominique’s expression shifted from confusion to shock as Gael’s words sunk in. His heart pounded in his chest, disbelief coursing through him like a tidal wave. He shook his head vehemently.

"I... I had no idea," Dominique stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I never asked Sabrina to do that. I would never..." His words trailed off, his mind reeling with the weight of Gael’s revelation.

Guilt and anguish consumed Dominique. As his mind absorbed the reality of Gael’s accusation, Dominique felt a sickening sense of betrayal gnawing at his insides.

’It’s Sasha! She’s the one who asked Sabrina to abort our child without my knowledge. I was left in the dark.’ Dominique didn’t know what he would do at this moment. He felt a whirlwind of emotions swirling within him, uncertain how to process this shocking revelation.

How could he have been so blind to the suffering of the woman he once loved? And how could he ever make amends for the pain he had unknowingly caused?

Hatred surged up within him, directed both at Sasha for her deceit and at himself for his ignorance. He brought this upon himself. And he felt like he was beyond redemption now. He could no longer turn back time.

As guilt and self-loathing consumed him, every ounce of his energy had been drained from him. He felt so lost. Without saying another word, Dominique turned on his heel and strode away, leaving Gael standing by the gate.

The weight of his actions pressed heavily upon his conscience. His soul was stained with the unforgivable sins he had committed against Sabrina.
