Chapter 63: Journey

Chapter 63: Journey

[ At Fortuna Grande Island... ]

Enzo started packing his stuff. He decided to go to York City and try to recover his memory. He was looking forward to seeing Athena and Lanny once again.

"Are you sure about this? I can’t accompany you. My supervisor hasn’t approved my leave yet." Alice sat down on the bed, watching Enzo as he put his clothes inside his bag.

Enzo stopped what he was doing and approached Alice. He stood in front of her and held her shoulders. "Don’t worry about me. You’ve done so much for me already. You don’t have to always prioritize me. Your patients need you more. I can take care of myself now."

Alice pouted her lips. "I just don’t want you to get separated from me because I’m going to miss you."

Enzo chuckled, leaning over to kiss her on her forehead. "You can follow me once you get the approval of your leave." He gently patted her head.

Alice could only bob her head. "Fine. I’ll process my leave and beg my supervisor to approve it quickly."

"No need to hurry. You can take your time." Enzo hugged her to console her.

Alice was always there for him. This time he wanted to be independent, not relying on her. He wanted to go on this journey on his own. It’s been five years. Now, he was returning to York City, his heart filled with anticipation and uncertainty.

Alice sighed deeply. She wasn’t sure if this was a good idea. ’Enzo looks determined. I won’t be able to sway him.’

"Can’t you postpone your trip today? Don’t you want to wait for me?" Alice tried to stop him once again.

Enzo chuckled and shook his head. "You can’t come with me. I have to do this alone. I don’t want to be a burden to you for so long. It’s time for me to face and solve my problems without relying too much on you. Allow me to be a man." He caressed her cheeks, asking for her understanding.

"Sigh. You are not a burden to me. Alright. I won’t stop you. How long are you going to stay there?" Alice asked.

’I should inform my Boss about this so that he can send someone to monitor Enzo and keep him safe.’ Alice made a mental note. She couldn’t allow him to roam around York City without protection.

"I don’t know. One week or one month... It depends. But if I suddenly miss you, I might go back right away."

Alice hit his shoulder. "You are lying. You are very eager to leave me behind. You bad guy!"

"I’m not lying. Don’t be upset now. I’ll find a good place in York City where we can both stay. This time I’ll search for a job and earn for us. I need to save for our wedding."

Alice fell silent at the mention of the wedding. How could he marry a woman who had a lot of secrets and who kept her real identity from him?

’I better change the topic now.’

"Where are you going to stay once you arrive there?"

Enzo picked up a piece of paper from his pocket, showing it to Alice. "Athena gave me this address. I can contact them just in case I get lost," he said jokingly.

Alice rolled her eyes. "That’s not funny, Enzo."

Enzo chuckled once more. "Relax. I’m not a kid. And I’m not a fool. I can handle this big city," he reassured her.

Before she could utter a word, Enzo stole a kiss from her, giving her a peck on her lips. "I’m going to be fine. I’ll call you every day."

Alice could only smile and nod. "I’ll be waiting. Take care, Enzo. Text me once you arrive in York City safe and sound." She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

"Of course, I will."

Alice had just released him from her embrace when Enzo lifted her chin, sealing her lips with a passionate kiss. Alice could only close her eyes and respond with equal intensity.

She felt like everything would never be the same for both of them once Enzo recovered his memory. He might hate her for not being honest with him.

’Until when can I still pretend? Does going back to York City truly help him regain his memories?’ Alice mused to herself as she emerged herself in Enzo’s captivating kiss.

Enzo’s embrace was swift, gently guiding her onto the soft cushion of the bed as his kisses grew more fervent, igniting a surge of passion between them. Each touch sparked an electric connection, intensifying the moment.

The kiss lingered for what felt like an eternity, yet was only fleeting seconds. Their breaths intertwined, mingling in the air as they parted, both consumed by the intensity of their shared longing.

"Enzo," Alice murmured his name, her eyes staring at him intently.

"Alice..." he whispered back.

As they locked their eyes, the two understood what they both wanted at this certain moment.

Alice’s hand reached down to massage the bulge on his pants while Enzo’s hand ventured beneath the fabric of her shirt, its warmth enveloping her skin as his palm delicately cradled her right breast.

His touch, gentle yet electrifying, lingered upon her breast, sending shivers of anticipation coursing through her.

Meanwhile, his lips traced a tantalizing path from her jawline, leaving a trail of soft tingling sensations in their wake until his lips found her neck. His mouth settled there, sucking her sensitive spot, eliciting a soft moan from Alice.

On the other hand, Alice wanted to reciprocate the wonderful sensation he was giving her. Her hands slid under his pants, making contact with his erection.

As her fingers met his arousal, she wrapped the pulsating heat of his cock, tracing the contours of his shaft with a tender caress. She continued to stimulate him as she gave his cock a gentle squeeze, rubbing his shaft from tip to base.

With each caress, a wave of desire surged within them. A loud groan and moan echoed in their bed as they continued to find release. The two pleasured each other, making the most of the remaining moments they were still together.

Enzo was leaving Fortuna Island today while Alice had to stay behind for the sake of her work in the town hospital.

Due to a shortage of staff at the town hospital, her supervisor found it difficult to grant her leave request, recognizing the critical demand for personnel to maintain the hospital’s operations amidst the understaffed conditions.

[ York City: Athena’s Penthouse... ]

Gael and Lanny sat on the couch, their demeanor resembled dogs with tails tucked between their legs, as they faced Athena’s confrontation. Guilt painted their expressions.

Gael had to rush to Athena’s penthouse when Lanny summoned him, mentioning Athena getting upset with them.

"Why didn’t you inform me about Aaron meeting Dominique? Why did I have to hear it from my son first? If you just knew how shocked I was when I found out," Athena expressed, her voice tinged with evident dismay and frustration.

"I’m sorry, Athena. It’s my fault. I should have told you right away... but... I hesitated." Gael apologized instantly, acknowledging his mistake.

"Athena, don’t be upset. It was me who volunteered to tell you about it. But I was waiting for the right chance to inform you tonight. I didn’t expect that Aaron would mention it to you," Lanny admitted, trying to pacify her friend.

Athena could only sigh helplessly. She couldn’t do anything about it. Aaron already met Dominique. There was no use in blaming anyone.

"I apologize for venting my frustrations toward both of you. I just feel uneasy. What if Dominique notices his resemblance with Aaron? He might investigate Aaron’s background." Athena expressed her concern.

"Don’t worry, Athena. I have a back-up plan for that. Even if he delves into his background, Dominique will get nothing. I assure you."

’Besides, Aaron is on our turf. He is under the protection of Miguel Ivankov and his clan.’ Lanny thought to herself.

"I hope so. But I’m worried because Aaron looks like he is so fond of Dominique. He talked about him in his cheerful voice. When he asked me if I knew Dominique, I lied to him. I hate it when I keep lying to my son. But I have no choice." Athena was feeling down about it.

Lanny stood up and approached Athena. She patted her back to comfort her. "Don’t overthink too much. Aaron is a smart kid. When the right time comes, I am sure he will understand you. He won’t hate you. He loves you so much."

"That’s true. If he has someone to hate, it should be Dominique, not you. Stop worrying about it, Athena. We will protect Aaron from Dominique. You can count on us." Gael expressed his unwavering support for Athena’s goal.

Athena darted her gaze back and forth between Gael and Lanny. "Okay. I’ve forgiven the two of you. Next time, don’t put me in the dark. You should tell me right away, especially if it is related to my son."

"Yes, Lady Boss!" Both responded in unison. Then they erupted into laughter.
